I've been eating at Joe's sushi since I moved to the desert in 2013. Love the sushi chef he always greets me and my husband with a hug and know exactly what we love. The Cheche roll is beyond delicious, it's our favorite role. I tried the Horacio and it's very good as well. The sauce is so good. Great service and always so fast for us! I don't understand what the negative reviews are because I've had nothing but exceptional service here. Ambience is always welcoming and friendly and very busy. Delicious! I'm not a big sushi fan but let me say that this place prepares the best sushi rolls and chavelas. This is a great place to watch some sports and enjoy some grub. The staff is amazing at greeting you as soon as you walk in and super friendly. Once you are there, you will notice many regulars walk in and that says a lot about the service and food. This restaurant was tucked away in a quiet low traffic plaza with plenty of parking. Service was prompt but lukewarm. I was curious because of the raving reviews. Joe's seemed to be a neighborhood favorite spot with several tables occupied. The menu had pictures, which was helpful. Here's what we ordered for lunch: - Alberto's roll: It had a generous amount of salmon on top and oozed of warm cream cheese. I felt like the cream cheese and rice were a little bit much. Good flavor though. - Lobster roll: This is the saddest lobster roll I have ever ordered. There was no seaweed around the sushi. The roll was tiny in diameter and lacked some of the well-known ingredients. Oh and only a few pieces of lobster on top. I would not recommend. - Dangerous girl: The title got our attention alright! I'm sad to report that it was a disappointment. The imitation crab was cold. This roll left a lot to be desired. - Caterpillar: This wasn't too bad other than the fact that it was covered in eel sauce. - Kid's meal teriyaki chicken and rice: It was too sweet because of the excessive sauce. Overall, they had a heavy hand on everything. Everything was too much. Too much sauce. Too much rice. Too cold. Too salty. Left me wanting to start the meal over somewhere else. Hopeful but disappointed. Husband and I tried this place for the first time and we were extremely hopeful. However, for the prices and overall vibes of the restaurant, I was anticipating a much more impressive service and food. I was looking forward to the salmon sushi rolls but they were lack luster and very oily. Cocktail was tasty, but reminded me of city slicker time raspberry lemonade. Husband ordered a spicy tuna roll and noodles and he really enjoyed them. Service was adequate, but again for the experience you would hope for top tier. This is actually for their new location on 48th. The JOE'S SUSHI on Washington I used to go to all the time and I used to buy a bunch of sushi for my crew and we all loved it. However my husband and I went to the new one on 48th And it was really substandard we were so disappointed we were so hungry and we intended on really eating some sushi, we got simple rolls that aren't really fancy or anything and it tasted like if you could buy five different grades of ingredients it was the lowest grade possible to make the sushi roll with it! That's the only way I can explain it the seaweed wrap tasted off. There were hardly any ingredients inside the roll we weren't really even sure we wanted to eat it. It was just unremarkable nothing making you want to return or tell a friend! The server was very nice and friendly however we did not say anything to him because we just figured nothing ever goes right when you do that in a restaurant very rarely does it get rectified with a smile. I love Joe Sushi because it's a fun fusion of Baja California type sushi and traditional Japanese sushi. I love their shrimp cocktail very fresh and very delicious and I love their shrimp and roll. I am not a fan of raw sushi, but I have been to Joe's with plenty of sushi lovers and they always rave about how fresh the fish is, always busy. I grew up in the desert Now I live in San Diego. I know good sushi and this places sushi is great. The service was 50/50 the staff didn't work well together and definitely do not put the customer first. They seemed over their job, one of the guys was constantly hiding in the back kitchen area not trying to hear it and he would see people flagging him down and act inconvenienced. Sushi's great just hate ordering out or eating there it's over crowded& cramped.The section to pay and pick up your order is at the end of the restaurant so you have to walk through the already crowded section of tables who are eating there. Staff isn't necessarily friendly I've order here many times & get the same attitude,here's how much & sing here plain attitude.
