The hot giardiniera went along well with the sandwich giving it a spicy kick. Service was friendly, the place was clean. Two important things for me. Joey's Pizza took over the building that houses Chickie's Beef - that I have previously reviewed. Joey's is very clean. The atmosphere is nice. I ordered a beef and my husband ordered the Chicago hotdog special. My husband is very particular - especially about hotdogs. Chicago style hotdogs are all beef with a poppy seed bun. They contain the all beef dog, and are slathered in mustard, topped with onion, relish, tomatoes, a pickle, sport peppers and a dash of celery salt. Joey's "Chicago Style" dogs were tough and on soggy buns that were not poppy seed. They were, in short, a mess. My beef was ok. I asked for it to be dipped. It was not. The gardinera was exactly like the prior owner's the beef was just ok. All-in-all, I was not impressed and I don't think I will be going back. read more

First time here. Ordered my standard - beef, sweet & hot, side of gravy and fries. Beef was good, tender and nicely sliced. Sweet peppers were cooked perfect - not raw but not mushy. Giard - not my fav style but decent. Plus they had peppers hidden under the beef as well. Gravy was very good - just the right amount of pepper and oregano. Those are the best hand cut french fries I've had in a long time. I had the homemade classic Italian beef w spicy peppers which was good compared to these amazing fries. I just grabbed a slice of pizza from here and I'm pissed right now for 2 reasons: The owner told me that I was going to eat that slice of pizza and it's gon be so good, I'd be mad that I didn't buy a second slice (he was right) and 2, I was so hungry that I slammed that slice of pizza and clean forgot to take a pic! A slice of pizza that good deserved a pic! Stopped in here for lunch because I work 5 minutes away and didn't have a taste for my norm pack of tuna. Grabbed a slice of sausage. I'm STILL thinking about that slice! Let's start with the crust as many never get this right! It was perfectly soft! It didn't feel like I had pizza on top of edible cardboard. The crust was so soft, it felt like I was eating a thin freshly baked roll. The sauce was perfectly seasoned and the cheese had a nice gooeyness (likely not a real word). We ordered from Joeys last night, staying in town just for the evening. Everyone agreed on pizza and we always try and stay away from the bigger chains whenever pizza. Went to pickup and warmly greeted by gentleman behind the counter. Restaurant was very clean and an old fashioned charm to it. Pizzas were just pulled out of the oven, right on time as promised. And was given a small discount for a few add on items. Pizza ingredients were very good and fresh. No canned or frozen veggies here ! Sausage was home made. The cheese was good quality and not greasy. A little light on the sauce for my liking, would ask for extra sauce or side next time. Overall great food and service ! read more

Really solid sandwiches, dogs and fries. The beef is especially good. I don't like how they do slices through...they keep them cold and they throw them in the oven to get hot. It was below average for slices. I asked if they were ready and I was told yes. I was in a rush otherwise I wouldn't mind waiting for a fresh slice. Then I sat around as it was reheated to super hot, with hard over cooked crust and bottom crust that was crunchy and crumbled when I bit it. I was at least expecting a good fresher slice since I was lied to and had to wait. This is the second time I've been there with bad pizza. I won't be back. Pizza was great! Salad delicious. We came Here because Rocky's was closed. I'm glad we did. It's a great deal if you pick up. Using the delivery service makes it not worth it. So be sure to go grab it yourself. The pizza has cheese all the way to the crust. Tasty cheese and a nice crust. We got the Caruso salad. Ok for those of you that have any type of food allergy please make sure you ask them before you order. Especially if its fried food. I have been a customer for over 15 years. The other night 8/29/23 I ordered Chicken fingers not thinking as I never had a problem. Well I am allergic to shell fish & didn't know they cross contaminate with the grease. I called & spoke to the manger & he basically said its not his problem.(forget the point that people can die) I was only trying to make them aware for future reference & to possibly get them to post something for people with Allergy's. Just moved in the area and we were looking for a casual place with a good food. Read yelp reviews and found Joey's Pizza rated a great place and indeed it is. I had the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich and can say was extremely delicious. The first bite is important for me, the very well balanced taste between the steak, mushrooms, cheese and the green pepper made it all. Loved it. Very clean and welcoming place to dine in. Service was great too. You could feel the warmth of the staff, they are happy to serve you quality food and make your "belly "happy. Definitely a place to try. I had a lot pizza over the years but OMG I never had pizza like this. I lived near the area for years and never heard of it until I came back to my hometown due to work. If I can give this place a 1 million stars I would. I bought it like 3 times in a week to bring back to my hotel. I even brought it to my family that lives in the area and they loved it too. In addition the owner, is very nice and has great customer service. I had never had such amazing pizza and it doesn't compare to anything. I can't eat pizza from any other places in my current area. We are long standing customers of Joeys and typically order once or more a week. After the incident with our delivery order this evening, we are very disappointed and will no longer order food from this establishment. We placed the order through Slice at 625 pm with a delivery time estimated at 730. No problem, we are use to an hour wait. At 830 the food had not arrived. I called twice and was assured the food was on the way. When the driver showed up, the order was completely wrong, sauces for example, our ranch dressing was spilled throughout the bag. Also, all food was cold. My husband called and spoke with Mike and was told they are extremely busy and would need to contact Slice for a refund. Mike also told my husband we should have called them directly. My phone shows we tried to call them 10 times prior to ordering on slice to place an order. It kept saying the Verizon call could not be completed because it was busy. After sending the food back with the delivery driver, we attempted to call them another 18 times. If i could give them negative stars, I would. Way to treat a long standing, returning customer. I would NOT recommend. read more
