I went to Home Run Inn for dinner last night, and it was excellent. I haven't been to an actual dine-in version of Home Run Inn in years, usually I would just buy a frozen one from the grocery store. There is plenty of seating inside the restaurant, and the workers I encountered were all very friendly. The food came out pretty quickly for a Friday night. We had a large 14 inch pizza tavern (thin crust style) with Jalepanos and the signature salad. Both were delicious, everything tasted great and was so fresh. The salad was massive and you for sure will have plenty for leftovers. They also have beer and wine available if you dine in which is pretty nice. If you like Home Run Inn's frozen pizzas from Jewel, you will absolutely love the fresh made ones from the restaurant- I highly recommend it. read more

Placed a to-go order for some bruschetta, fried pickles and slice of sausage pizza. My order took longer than they suggested and that's fine. But, after walking all the way back to my hotel room I was really disappointed that my order was missing the buffalo ranch for my fried pickles. Despite the minor set back the pickles and bruschetta was very tasty. Overall, they had very friendly service and this restaurant has a relaxed atmosphere. read more

Every time I'm back home in Chicago I make sure to hit up Home Run Inn as it was a childhood favorite of mine. This is my favorite pizza spot in Chicago. They even have turkey Italian sausage which they didn't have years ago. I also ordered the traditional wings tossed in Chicago mild sauce. I placed an order in store and waited around. Stopped in on a fly while I was in the area this evenWasn't crowed at all. Probably all of 4 people in the restaurant. I decided to dine in so was seated immediately. Their system is interesting. You order your food at the counter there is not a waiter/server who takes your order at the table. They will give you a table sign and when your food is ready they bring it to you. Same with drinks. They do not have a sit down/full bar. They have pre made cocktails that come out dispensers on the wall. Quite different. I ordered a personal pizza and a Georgia peach cocktail. The cocktail was large and strong and only $11. Definitely not your average cocktail size, which I appreciated. Pizzas are made to order so I expected to wait, which honestly wasn't really long, like 15 min. Pizza came out so fresh and so good. I grew up on Home Runn Inn on 31st the original location but I must admit this location is just as good. Only reason for the star reduction is that after delivering the pizza and drink no one came back to ask if everything was Ok or if I needed anything. I had to go to the counter and ask for a to go box but they were nice so this can be fixed with a simple staff meeting. read more

Me and my family were hungry so we went to Home Run Inn to get some food and my mom used the last of rent money to buy a XL-Pizza and some boneless wings. The wings were ginormous and the breading on the wings just fell off they were just disgusting. Don't even get me started with the pizza; it came out half cut and cold it tasted like frozen pizza. This is probably the reason they make you pay before you get the food. This location has improved its looks immensely since I was last here well over 10 years ago. I was heading back down to drop my kids off where they were staying and call in and order for a pizza. I haven't had a good home run in pizza and too long and I was really looking forward to it. Someone answered the phone quickly and took my order and my name and I was told it would be about 20 minutes. That was roughly my drive time so I figured that would be perfect. When I arrived at the restaurant and walked in it was unclear where I was supposed to get in line. You walk into the counter right in front of you and there's a rope dividing so you can walk on either side of it there were several people on the other side of the rope by the counter and a couple of them were talking to the person behind the counter but then they were going in different directions and there were other people just standing around there. Since someone was at the register I stood off to the side and waited. There were several other people working there and nobody seemed to really be paying attention to the customers. While I was waiting I had a very interesting conversation with another one of the customers who also directed me to where I probably wanted to stand. I thought it's sad that this is someone local who gets stuff here and also wasn't sure which side to start from. While I was waiting for my turn I overheard employees talking because customers came in and went and sat down. Apparently their dining room was closed but not roped off. I'm assuming that they just have staff shortages like so many businesses do. The interior of the restaurant was somewhat of what you would expect from an Italian restaurant except this location does most of its business through carryout, it seems, so the dining room is actually fairly small. It looks like what a Home Run Inn should look like. When it was my turn I gave them my name and my pizza was ready to go. It cost a bit more than I expected but I was happy just to have it this time. I took the pizza home with me and it was still nice and hot so I really enjoyed it. I actually had some for dinner that night and the rest I munched on throughout the next day as I had nothing to do. The pizza tasted great and was exactly how I remembered it but this location needs some work. If I was living in the Chicago area I would be more likely to drive to a different location and sit down and enjoy myself while having my pizza. read more

A true chicago Classic! Perfect Sunday night dinner that easily fed our family of 7 with a great coupon deal. Basically recreated the chicken carbonara pizza and of course got a classic Chicago " Pizza. Caesar salad had garbanzo beans which was unique. Had the pleasure of visiting this location on my way back to Midway airport and I can say it was clean, quick and I believe it was the manager, took the time to thank me for coming to this place. I usually visit Darien location but I was running late already. I ordered 4 personal pizzas to bring home to Houston and everything was great. I did tell the cashier I was traveling with them but I don't think she understood what I meant by that. I would have preferred to have them in something other than paper boxes because they sweated and stunk like cardboard but maybe next time I'll take my own containers to put them in. I love me some Home Run Inn Pizza. I was carving pizza and decide to come dine inside. I first had to place my order than sit myself. I ordered a small sausage and cheese pizza, a strawberry walnut salad and a frozen bomb pop drink with alcohol (of course). There was only one hostess running this establishment by herself. The other team members peeked out every once in a while. Ashley did an extraordinary job taking orders, ringing up the customers, answering the phones, bringing out food and drinks to the table. Kudos for her hard work and dedication to the customers. I'm not sure what the other staff was in the back was doing. Maybe they were short staffed. My star review is for Ashley. Now on to the food. The strawberry walnut salad was so good. The pizza doesn't have the same quality taste. Not enough sauce. Kind of dry. I was disappointment with my pizza. My drink was a bit too strong. Home Run Inn name alone equal good food. They been consistent since I can remember so this post will not be about the food but rather about the service, lack there of at the hillside location. They advertise pizza by the slice but it's never ready or never fresh when you arrive. So my rule of thumb for this location is to order a regular pizza via whatever and pick it up at that location. Don't make eye contact with the young cashiers...just give the name of the order along with the credit/cash and move on. Nothing more and nothing less. read more

One of my favorite pizzas ever. The crust is so crispy and flaky. The pizza has plenty of sausage on it also. We walked into the restaurant and were surprised that it was more like McDonald's were you order at a counter then they give you a number and you take a seat in the dining room. I was expecting more of a sit down restaurant. Pizza came out really quick. My only complaint was that a table behind us had kids that walked between the window and our table and not respecting us sitting there. I will go to one of their other locations on the future. Felt like enjoying a really good pizza today Sunday, May 19, 2024. Placed an online carryout order for an XL Cheese, Sausage, and Mushrooms on a Garlic Crust. Picked the pizza up from the Home Run Inn (HRI) Pizza located at 60 N Mannheim Rd, Hillside, IL. We really liked Home Run Inn Pizza and would eat them at least once a month minimally; however, HRI is really falling off and the service is terrible. The restaurant dining area, kitchen, and restrooms could stand a good cleaning. The picture below is exactly how the pizza looked when we opened it up in HRI. I was really disappointed I asked the cashier "Why is the pizza scattered/separated like this?" She responded that it must have shifted; and asked if I wanted her to fix it? I asked "how would you fix it?" The cashier responded with "I would get a spatula and push the pieces back together!" There were people at home waiting on us and the pizza so I took the pizza. I don't know if the pizza shifted, was dropped, knocked over or what; however, I do know that something happened with the pizza and someone on staff knows what happened to the pizza and decided not to fix it. The manager walked from behind us when we were talking to the cashier; I heard her say "it looks like it shifted". The pizza WAS NOT good, it didn't have the garlic crust, the cheese didn't stretch like cheese should stretch on pizza, it didn't taste fresh it tasted stale. I think the pizza was pieced together from left over pizzas that were previously made. I think there were left over pieces of pizza that were kinda placed together to create this pizza. The pizza was not round in shape and it had different consistency and colors throughout. The top of the pizza was well done and kinda burnt crust with hard cheese, the middle of the pizza wasn't cooked as well and the cheese was semi well done while the bottom of the pizza was out of sorts. The sausage and mushrooms were well done on some of the pizza and not so much on other parts of the pizza. This HRI needs new management and staff that will prepare food like they themselves want their food prepared and treat customers like they want to be treated. This was a very disappointing experience. read more

So I stayed in Hillside, IL for the weekend and really wanted pizza. Coming from CT I was looking for good "Chicago" pizza. I ended up at Home Run which was right next to a Jimmy John's (I went there earlier and I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND!!) Anyway...the pepperoni pizza was cooked perfectly. Flaky crust, the cheese was nicely melted and they didn't skimp on the pepperoni. Sauce wasn't too sweet or runny. I definitely enjoyed it. All of the staff were kind. This has always been my favorite pizza in Chicago. We used to go to the old one when I was a kid and was nearby. Still wishing they would deliver! I'm a huge fan of the Archer location & assumed other locations would be the same. Not at all. I knew when we pulled up it was going to be different. You order at the register & they off by the slice take out. We ordered a large pepperoni & Italian sausage pizza & mild wings. The pizza was not from the oven hot like Archer location. I've always really liked Home Run Inn pizza....but honestly, I've only had it about 3 times my entire life.. I was a late bloomer to HRI....(this being the 4th).. Locations are far and few between these days... Sadly, they closed in my area years ago...so while I was shopping in this newer outdoor mall, I noticed a nice looking establishment for HRI...a friend had never tried their pizza, and being that she loves pizza, I suggested we HAD to stop here for an early dinner since we were starving....and yeah, I never pass on pizza opportunities.... The place was buzzing with customers around 4:30 on a weekend....Nice set-up inside, definitely "new" looking...Hostess and waitress were friendly and service was great. No complaints whatsoever...and our food was out in no time! My eyes were bigger than my tummy....I was almost going to order a small pizza (12") and noticed they had personal size 8" (looked more like 10" after receiving).. Our server was really nice and mentioned that for $3 more, we could get a salad...that sounded like the reasonable thing to do being I could never eat an entire 12" in one sitting.. So we went with two personal pizzas: Laura's Favorite (plum tomatoes & spinach) & I ordered one of their "unique" pizzas: Grilled Artichoke, Roasted Garlic & Spinach with wine cream sauce. I've had this before and absolutely LOVED IT... The garlic on this is whole...and while I like garlic, I don't like eating whole cloves of it, so I got it without.... I love that you can get a personal size in any one of the selections they offer, and are not restricted to only "some"...you can build your own as well...all on their famously delicious "butter crust"...$10.00. We ordered the Mozzarella Stick app...haven't had these in ages and holy mozzarella, were these good!!! The fried coating was freakingly addicting and crispy...served w/side of Marinara...These may JUST be mozz sticks to you, but they are some of the best sticks I've had...you get 10 and nope, we didn't finish them... The side Caesar salad was more of an 'entree' size portion...for $3 more, this was a GREAT deal being the regular is $8.29...definitely go this route if your craving salad with your pizza (or super hungry).. I was surprised at how big this salad was...love that it comes with garbanzo beans and sprinkled with crispy bacon....Romaine was very fresh. Really good salad & great portion.. What can I say about HRI pizza? They make a unique, crispy, butter crust I happen to enjoy.. Friend said it reminds her of Lou Malnati's crust (she is a fan).... I get the comparison too... Toppings are fresh, good quality cheese...my wine sauce was lightly creamy, not heavy..no wine flavor...plenty of artichokes...so good..if your a fan of artichokes, I recommend this.. She liked her plum tomato (not a 'sauce')...nice balance of toppings...I've made a Fan out of her! They offer Gluten Free pizza in 10" size only...good selection of wings, salads, scratch made soups, pasta dishes, sandwiches, kids menu & desserts... Lady at the register might as well not be there. Took our order seemed like she was in a rush because she didn't bother asking if we needed any sauce for our chicken "dippers". Was told it would be a 9 minute wait for the dippers so we went and sat at our table, which mind you she didn't ask if we're dining in. Waited for a whole 25 minutes before she came up to us with our food saying she didn't realize we were going to eat there. Food was ok regular ol home run inn pizza. Fries tasted more like oil than anything and chicken dippers were cooked right but no seasoning. I'm not expecting gourmet so food is a good 3/5 but the girl at the front def made this a 2/5 read more
