Great Italian restaurant with fresh seafood and meats, homemade soups, (excellent Wedding Soup) and a nice variety of appetizers. Spacious parking lot with plenty of room for large groups of guests. We've been here many times over the years including our dons baby shower with a private room for large parties, as well as a nice sized dining room. Our go to app is the Stuffed Banana Peppers with fresh bread, yum! Their Bruschetta is also fresh and tasty. Everything we've had there was delicious! Our favorite dishes include, Veal, Chicken, or Eggplant Parm. Also the Chicken Anthony or Veal Anthony are house specialties. Also I can't forget their seafood selections that include an oven baked Icelandic Cod, fried Shrimp Scampi and Grilled Salmon. ALL DELICIOUS!! Never been here before. Peyton the bartender super nice & super busy! But he recommended the fried cauliflower w/ sweet chili sauce. Delicious enough to have a take home box. I had the tacos & my husband had the meatball hoagie. I added extra sweet chili sauce on the 3 fish tacos because it bumped up the flavor. So yummy! When I see a lot of cars in a restaurant parking lot, I know that a restaurant has to be good! Many takeout customers were ordering pizza. Next time we return pizza sounds like a plan! I love John Anthony's food but unfortunately there is always an issue with the wait staff and my food getting messed up. It legit happens every single time that something is messed up. That is why I gave it 3 stars. The owner I know was made aware of the issue atleast 2 of the times but never came out to apologize nor did a manager address the issues. My card was even incorrectly charged and nothing. But I keep going back though because the food is absolutely delicious. My go to is the zucchini, chicken parm, wedge salad, or shrimp meal. My family and I hosted my dad's surprise retirement party here last night. Everything was absolutely perfect. The space and set up was great, the food was hot and extremely good, some of the best catered food we've ever had. The service was top-notch, we had about 100 people and every single person was taken care of and got anything they requested quickly. Separate checks were organized by the staff with ease. They were so friendly and made the process of hosting for us a breeze. They answered any and all questions leading up to the event, and handled anything we needed during it, so we got to relax and enjoy. I really wish that they would join a delivery service already just pick one please. Because I love there food it is amazing really,really good food. But I have a very weakened immune system from very low hemoglobin/blood. So, me being out in public like that is not really the best idea for me or my health. The hubs and I went here for our HOA block party. It was out the wazoo packed on a week day night. Holy moly, I had to stand up the whole time. I think there were at least 5 other parties or events going on simultaneously and our HOA definitely did not book enough seats or something. Yes, there was a parking lot but it was viciously narrow and did not even accommodate a fraction of people in there. The setup is super weird and awkward. It reminded me of Pugliano's where there are 3 or 4 separate rooms/areas that don't really associate with each other so you just have to know where you're supposed to go. Food here was kind of blah. The pizza was really thin, greasy and sparse in toppings. The wings were dry, small and sauce was on the side. Granted, this is their catering selection but it was probably a 2-star for me for just the food. Service was surprisingly fast and attentive for all the people being there. Even while I never had a seat, the waitresses always spotted me and got me my 2 soft drinks very promptly. So I guess John Anthony's has this going for it. The location is out of the way and weird and I have no clue why anyone would choose to purposely dine here. The quality of food is pretty bad and the selection is very limited. After stressing out in Monroeville trying to find a decent place to eat without waiting for an hour. John Anthony's popped into either my wife or my mind. Was at John Anthony's today for a banquet. Waitresses seemed to be in a hurry when the restaurant was pretty much empty. Myself and my wife were overlooked for drinks/salads, she to go get her own from the tray. Entrees with gravy were served either with slotted spoons or tongs (interesting). As I stated, we were there for a banquet and were unable to take any of the leftover food that had already been paid for. When we asked about this, we were told that the extra food would just be thrown out (hand motion of throwing out food). Then when asked to speak with a manager, one was not available. Stuffed chicken breast was served with a slotted spoon; therefore we weren't able to get any gravy. The stuffed shells were dry, lacked marinara. Green beans and roast beef were also served. We took a family member there this past Sunday for a bday party.We had 8 members in our party. It took them 2 hours to serve our food which was cold. In that 2 hours another party of 6 came in ordered and was served their food before we ever got served There was literally no other people in the entire restaurant. When we told the server the manager came over and made excuses about serving appetizers first ( there were 2) and couldn't understand why we might be upset! Turns out they had a catered event after us to which was clearly much more important . We also had to get up get our own plates, napkins and silverware. Waitress no where to be found. Probably should have cooked our own meal while we were at it. Would have been on time , tasted better and been warm. We had our FFL year end party there this weekend. We sat in the front part of the bar area two tables about 15 guys total. Large TV's to watch multiple games. Fast, friendly service for this large group. Good fish sandwich and onion rings. Onion soup was not very good nor the fried mushrooms. Wings were average at best. Buuutttt! The Carrot Cake Cheese Cake was terrific! A very nice surprise! The Pizza also looked very good although I had no room left to try any, most people seemed to enjoy it. I made it to John Anthony's a few weeks ago and was pleasantly surprised in what I found. The atmosphere was great for watching a Pens or Steelers game (and the plentiful supply of alcohol to drown your Pirates related sorrows while watching AJ Burnett serve up 5 earned runs before the 2nd inning). The food was above average as far as bar/restaurants go. I recommend the fish sandwich, the mozzarella sticks and of course the carrot cake cheesecake.
