a fish tank and a television
    Darren W.

In less-traveled Bethel Park there is a steakhouse, one that has stood for years uncounted. It is known only by local residents who pack the joint as casually as they would a relative's kitchen. The dining room is wide. A flatscreen television is mounted on the wall, and an aquarium(!) full of exotic fish acts as a centerpiece. There are no men in tuxedos to wait on you. Instead, women in black t-shirts and leggings befriend you and serve you traditional fare actualized nimbly. Take for instance the colossal rack of ribs (cut 4 ways and stacked atop each other) I ordered. As with all quality barbecued pork, the meat practically undressed itself from the bones cleanly, turned into fatty liquid in my mouth, and was topped by a sauce as deep and dark as the eyes of a necromancer. Stickier than a hair-metal chorus, and consecrated (damned?) by ingredients unknowable, the sauce was at once delectable and alcoholic, not unlike a jar of hot fudge imbibed with rum. The cole slaw was admirably creamy, crisp, and cool. The french fries reawakened 20 year-old memories of The Original Hot Dog Shop with their twice-fried texture and terrestrial, nutlike flavor. Kay's New York Strip Steak was masterfully done medium-rare, yielding to fork, knife, and teeth with the bleeding tenderness of a lovelorn songwriter. Tori, our server, became fast friends with us, eagerly telling us about the restaurant's specials, including prime rib, urging us to return. God bless you, Ann, whoever you are, and thank you for revealing to us yet another treasure of Pittsburgh's southern suburbs.

Just a pic of restaurant and breakfast special.

I had a clipp.com coupon. Drove 1/2 hour to bethel park to be told they don't serve food and haven't for years. Terrible customer service.

I wouldn't consider this a chop house in the true sense of the term. More like a family restaurant right out of the '80's.

From the moment we walked in, Daniel and Nina took such attentive, personalized care of us. They truly made the evening feel special. Nina made me a watermelon mule with fresh watermelon purée, and it was hands down the best Moscow mule I've ever had. Daniel smoked my husband's bourbon cocktails, which he absolutely loved. Chef Devin created an incredible meal from start to finish. The entire experience was five-star, and honestly, it was the best dining experience my husband and I have ever had--and we consider ourselves foodies. The atmosphere is unlike anywhere else. The aviation theme is such a fun touch, and the Edison bulbs, soft lighting, and beautifully restored historic home create a warm, intimate ambiance. Even the bathrooms were spotless and thoughtfully decorated (which I always appreciate!). The food was outstanding. We were welcomed with an incredible amuse-bouche wonton along with warm bread and dipping oil. We started with the Wagyu tacos, which were phenomenal, then split a Caesar salad that was fresh and perfectly prepared. For our entrées, I ordered the prosciutto-wrapped chicken, which was incredibly flavorful, juicy, and perfectly cooked. My husband had the bone-in ribeye, and it absolutely lived up to the hype. The purple potato purée was the perfect complement. I paired my dinner with their red blend, which was delicious. To finish, we shared the tiramisu, complete with a candle for our anniversary, and toasted the evening with refreshing espresso martinis. I truly can't say enough good things about Latitude 48. The service was exceptional, the atmosphere was unforgettable, and every bite was memorable. If you're anywhere nearby, it's an absolute must-visit--and even if you're not, it's worth making the trip. We'll definitely be back!

Latitude 48 restaurant, named after its approximate coordinates, is described as "fine dining" on…read moreits website, but in my experience, it actually serves upscale foods in a casual atmosphere with above-average pricing. It serves farm-to-table foods, particularly exotic meats such as alligator, bison, boar, duck, elk, goat, and wagyu. Other menu items include more common meats such as chicken and seafoods such as trout and lobster tail. It also has a full bar serving wines, beers, and spirits. My husband and I ate one dinner here. We wore jeans with nicer shirts. The seating hostess and the waiter performed their jobs well. Our waiter brought an amuse-bouche of reuben egg rolls (5 stars), which were crispy and tangy and we really enjoyed, as well as focaccia bread (4 stars), which tasted good but could have been warmer. For my appetizer, I ordered the Wagyu Tacos (4.5 stars), corn tortillas filled with Japanese A5 Wagyu, cilantro-lime crema, tomato relish, and chipotle puree in a corn tortilla. These tacos were messy to eat but tasted very good. My husband ordered the Corn Fritters (4 stars) with cilantro-lime crema and tomato jam. My main course was the Bison Filet Mignon (4 stars), which I ordered mid-rare but could have been juicier. It came with sides of corn relish, asparagus, and purple-potato puree that could have been creamier. My husband's main course was the Prosciutto-wrapped Chicken Breast (3.5 stars), which my husband ate and said was alright. He particularly liked the flavorful peppers. His other sides were wild rice and zucchini. For dessert, I followed the waiter's recommendation for the Tiramisu (4.5 stars), which was moist and had a good balance between the coffee and sweet flavors. At the end of our meal, the waiter brought warm, lemon-scented, wet towels. The total price for our meal was $183 plus a tip. My husband and I thought that the foods overall tasted good but did not quite match the price point.

3.5 stars. Long, detailed review... Arlecchino Ristorante is a casual-elegant Italian restaurant…read morethat is uniquely inside a one-room schoolhouse that was built in 1907. This restaurant is open for dinner and catering for dining in and takeout. It has many of the same menu items as its excellent sister restaurant Alla Famiglia. Each meal includes bread and oil, optional appetizers (e.g., meatball and mussels diavolo), a first course of salad and pasta, the chosen main course (e.g., chicken marsala, cacciatore, veal chop, and filet mignon), and then if desired dessert. Alcoholic beverages (e.g., cocktails, wines, and beers) are also available. For my husband's and my wedding anniversary, I made a reservation for Arlecchino through OpenTable. We arrived shortly after they opened for the day. Our first impressions: Valet was required for our vehicle. We felt interested in seeing the exterior and remodeled interior of the schoolhouse. Most of the restaurant was empty then, but the seating hostess took us to the worst table--the smallest table inches from the front door. I requested a different table, and she then gave us a much better one. OpenTable had said that the dress code was business casual, but other customers wore casual clothes, and a hostess wore shorts and a baggy sweatshirt hoodie. Our names were written on a chalkboard above the kitchen and on my menu but not my husband's menu. Our waiter provided timely service and spoke courteously with us. (If you are wondering how to pronounce the restaurant's name, he told me something like are-lee-kee-no or our-lee-key-no.) Here are my ratings for what my husband and I ate: Autumn Spritz - 4 stars - This spritz contained apple cider, Marie Brizard Apry, prosecco, and soda, and I liked its flavors. Smoked Provolone - 2 stars - Smoked provolone was topped with black truffles and arugula. Neither my husband nor I liked this appetizer. I took two bites, and he tried to eat half. Casa Salad - 4.5 stars - This salad consisted of mixed greens, roasted peppers, raisins, walnuts, olives, gorgonzola, and slightly too much vinaigrette. Caesar Salad - 4.5 stars - My husband ate this salad, and he said that it was his favorite food in the entire meal. Cavatappi Alla Vodka - 4 stars - My husband ate this pasta, and I took one bite, and I thought that it tasted good. Cacio E Pepe - 4 stars - Months ago at Alla Famiglia, we loved the locatelli romano cheese wheel at the tableside, so we felt excited to try it at Arlecchino. The waiter definitely mixed the linguini, cream, oil, and pepper in the cheese wheel. This cacio e pepe tasted good but not as great as what we remember from Alla Famiglia. Halibut - 3.5 stars - My main course was this special menu item. The halibut tasted bland but was served with black-tiger shrimp, carrots, tomatoes, zucchini, cauliflower, and butternut squash that added some nice flavors. I did not know the price for this fish until I saw the bill, and it was $72. Veal monzu - 4 stars - The veal was nicely breaded and fried and topped with mozzarella, jumbo lump blue crab, pine nuts, and lemon butter. My husband ate it, and my one taste-test bite indicated that it was flavorful. My husband was not interested in trying dessert, so we skipped it. Our total bill was $178 plus tax, tip, and a credit-card surcharge. Comparatively, I think that Alla Famiglia has significantly better food, but Arlecchino is worth a try.

Upon entering the restaurant, there are crystal chandeliers, bright colors, French posters, and a lively atmosphere. The restaurant had a lot of potential until we experienced the service and cuisine. I brought my Supper Club here, and we had a group of 8 of us. There was also a very large group at the restaurant. We were neglected on several occasions, and it took us 2 HOURS just to get our food order. That's not an exaggeration. Our waitress was rather snippy with us, and ended up apologizing at the end but it did make for an unpleasant experience. When we finally received our bread, we were so hungry that we scarfed it down despite it being not so great sour dough bread. Every dish was flavorless and left us wanting more. I had to send back the steak on two occasions: once for being undercooked and once for being overcooked. I ended up getting my meal for free. The Coquilles St. Jacques had the smallest scallops without the lovely scallop shell its usually served in. The shrimp cocktail tasted like anything you could get at the grocery store. The Nicoise Salad was just sad and flavorless. The porkchop and escargot had the most flavor. I will definitely not be back to this establishment. Our group did enjoy each other's company, and it created a very memorable experience even though it was an overall bad experience!

The food was decent, but honestly, I was hoping for a bit more. The biggest letdown, though, was the service. Our server was super sweet, so it wasn't her fault at all--it just felt like they were either understaffed or the staff wasn't allocated efficiently. There were two bartenders and three other staff members who seemed to be handling seating and samples, along with a runner for food and drinks. Unfortunately, we waited over 25 minutes for a drink, and others who arrived after us were served first. It definitely put a damper on the visit.
