Joe and the staff are amazing.and I am a real foodie so not easy to please. I spent my last 50 years going to a restaurant of which I will not name in Oakmont. It was my go to. Well now the same guy owns all the restaurants and they are so mediocre and some are just BAD. My experience is you get great true Italian food at Schrodi's Cucina di Maria and you might meet nonna' there. Not too much not too little and very affordable. An absolute gem that everyone needs to try ! We celebrated my mothers birthday here and couldn't of been happier. Between the food and the hospitality- we had a perfect experience. We tried the spaghetti aglio e olio, alfredo with shrimp and chicken Marsala. They were exceptionally delicious! The table also had some italian mules, espresso martinis and we then finished the night off with espresso. An absolute wonderful evening. I will be the first to say we are Italian food snobs because of our very Italian heritage. However! I could not wait to write this review. My mom the matriarch, myself and my very Irish guy who loves Italian food too stopped at Shrodi's for an early dinner. Yes, I've been seeing the many posts and comments on social media. Well, a family tradition and staff who all welcome you as family .. yes, we know the family history of Shrodi. The menu was plentiful and the selections took much time to choose and with the outstanding help of Natalie we made our picks! What is cool is my mom is not a big eater anymore and chose off the senior menu which is very clever to have available and still had enough leftovers for lunch today. The stuffed banana peppers with Sunday sauce were amazing. Three served generously and one went home! Veal piccata was delish with a nice zest of lemon. Large portions! House salad with their house dressing to add according to our taste. Many kalamata Olives. Cherry tomatoes Fresh mushrooms. And freshest mixed greens Our Irishman picked his favorite penne with vodka sauce. It was the best he's ever had. And he's super picky. I have to agree! The added prosciutti and seasonings were truly mouth watering. The chef is masterful in the kitchen and believe me, every mouth watering taste was worth the wait! We went here for my grandsons 17th birthday had a party of 8. My Son heard good things about this place. Our experience was not so good. Had to ask for drink refills multiple times. We all got our food and only 2 of the 8 enjoyed their meals. 5 of us had the marinara sauce on our meals and none of us liked it. It was extremely garlicky but it tasted very off. Went on a Friday evening for dinner with friends. We were seated promptly at our reservation time of 6:30. We had a choice of where to sit either the dining room or the bar. We selected the bar. Our server was very attentive. We ordered a round of drinks, and she brought those quickly. We chose the zucchini as an appetizer. It was different than what I'm used to. The zucchini was cut up and formed into a patty then fried. It was pretty good. Our group ordered the chicken Parmesan, linguini with white clam sauce, and the salmon over risotto special. All of the entrées came with a choice of soup or salad and we all selected a salad. The salad was good, with with fresh greens and a homemade salad dressing. There was $1.50 upcharge to add Gorgonzola cheese, which I found to be very sparse in my salad. The chicken was very good, moist and flavorful and the portion was large enough that I had enough leftover for a lunch. The linguini was just ok. The salmon and risotto was also good. We waited a very long time for our entrées to be served. When we brought this up to our server, she apologized, and shared that they were understaffed. This is similar to what I saw from other reviews on yelp, that they are understaffed. Unfortunately, it really did deter from our dining experience so in summary, the food was fine, service was attentive, but we found the wait for the food was unacceptable. read more

We came here one other time. I forgot to review! And we came here again. Both times we have had amazing customer service! We made a reservation this time although they do take walk ins. I just wanted to secure our spot. We had the same waitress as last time and she is superb and super helpful with explaining the menu and so happy and bubbly. All the employees are great they all greeted us with smiles on their face and multiple people came to check on us. We had our 2 year old son with us and they treated him like the little sweet boy that he is instead of a bother. Everyone was so nice to him as well. The food is amazing! I got the Alfredo with veggies and my partner got the vile parm. This is our go to spot especially with the ambiance being so relaxed and chill the way that it is. I can feel the family atmosphere every time we walk into Shrodi's. We moved here last year and we will definitely be making this one of our regular places to eat! Six stars for dinner, four for brunch ...five stars! Dinner was amazing! I have been to Italy and have not have had better authentic food in the States than I had at Shrodi's. The pasta was remarkably fresh, the chicken was remarkably moist, the sauces could be served with a spoon to eat like soup and it would feel completely appropriate. The service is prompt, friendly and attentive. For brunch, I had the lemon ricotta pancakes, which is a single pancake , it was light and fluffy, but I wouldn't rank it among the best I've had. That being said, brunch is newer for them so I intend to give it a second shot. read more

I was looking forward to introducing a couple to Shrodi's because of past visits I had there. Unfortunately, this visit did not meet my expectations based on what I experienced other times. The restaurant was to be closed for vacations for two.weeks starting the next day. I didn't realize that this meant mediocre food and service was in order. Several menu items were not available. The food that was available was bland and either overcooked or not cooked enough. The mushroom appetizer was bland with mushrooms so small that it hardly seemed worth eating. The small pasta in the weak wedding soup was way more than all dente, it was hard. There were 2 or 3 pieces of spinach floating in the soup. The Pasta Primavera had overcooked veggies and no flavor at all. The other pasta dishes were either bland or over sauced. Bread was not on the table until well into the meal. A few teaspoons of the dipping oil was placed on the table for 4 people. Another person came by and asked if we wanted butter. She threw a small handful in the basket as she went about putting things away for the closing. The bread was not warm or anything you would think about dipping. It had the consistency of a generic grocery store bread. I can understand preparing to close for 2 week, but the customers should not be subjected to that. Or they should be warned when making the reservation. The place was pretty empty at our reservation time of 7:30. So it is not like they were swamped. At the very least, the bill could have been reduced for tolerating the lackluster food and confused service. As a customer, I felt tolerated at best and even intrusive.. My guests left questioning my taste in restaurants after I had praised the place. I guess if I felt appreciated and thanked for being there, I would not be writing this review. read more

The outside looks like a house and if you don't look carefully you might miss the turn but it's actually very beautiful decorated with old photos of there family. It is family owned and operated. We had 6 o'clock reservations and at 8:30 walked out with the entrees in boxes since we just couldn't wait another hour! Very sad, since the food we had for appetizers and salads and soup were good. However, after trying the entree at home at 9:00 fell short, with the ravioli lacking flavor and sauce. We really thought with the good reviews that we would experience a good meal. The waitress was nice, but we spent over 125.00 for this meal. The manager took off 25 percent, but we just wanted to enjoy the ambiance. The pace of the service was very slow. We were not able to place our entree orders until 50 minutes after we initially sat. We ended up being there 2 and a half hours. The food was delicious but the overall experience needs to be faster. read more

I gave this restaurant a second try and hated it even more the second time. Everything is way over salted and the prominent herb in everything is basil. The chicken marsala was almost non-edible. Tell me how this place gets good reviews. The pasta sauce is like straight up tomato paste. My side dish for my chicken marsala was pasta...it came with marsala sauce instead of traditional pasta sauce, when I told the waitress that I was not aware it was served that way, she told me that was the way it was served and I could not change it! Whatever you order, you are stuck with no matter how much you dislike it. The pasta figiol was not a red or white base, it was ham stock broth with pieces of ham and again, extremely salty. My husband and I unfortunately came here for our 27th anniversary. My husband had his ring re-sized at the jeweler next door (also the owner of Shrodi's) who told him to come to the restaurant. My husband called to make a reservation and they told us to come later at 7 pm because they wanted to stagger the guests since they were short staffed. We arrived at 7 pm and had cocktails, a Negroni and a Limoncello martini (both very good), then ordered an appetizer and our entrees. After 45 minutes or so, we asked our server to bring our dinner salads since the appetizer had not come out. When the artichoke appetizer came out at like 8 pm or so, it was very good. At about 8:30, our waitress checked in with us and apologized for the delay, and we were still okay with it, but around 8:45 she told us our dinner was about to come out and that's when we started to become impatient. Finally food came out at 9:00 for a 7:00 reservation. I had had enough and told the waitress to bring out a manager. She said he was washing dishes. In fact, all night we were told that they had no kitchen staff, no dishwashers, no help at all, and only one cook to cook the food all night. Eventually the wife of the manager came over and apologized. We told her it was our 27th anniversary and that her husband told us to come out to eat there and she just looked sad. We had our food boxed up and brought it home because I was sick of being held hostage as a patron of their restaurant. Mind you, a man at the bar had come in 1/2 an hour later and was served within the hour while we were there. The wife told me he may have put his order in advance but I just don't buy that. As a person who has worked in the restaurant industry, I can tell you this is a completely amateur operation and I would not recommend anyone going there and spending over $100 like we did. For one, if you are short-staffed, you need to shut down half the restaurant so your staff isn't over-taxed by the volume of customers. This is a common practice because it keeps the kitchen and customers flowing within the kitchen's ability for output and the customer's demand. Secondly, if you knew you were short-staffed, you should not have taken our reservation in the first place. There are hundreds of other places we could have gone for our anniversary. Thirdly, if you ignored the first and second of these points, you should have comped some of our bill--given us a free dessert, taken the appetizer or an entree off the bill--anything to make it right so we were not so angry as to write a bad review of the restaurant. Finally, the food we boxed up to take home was completely over-seasoned with salt and while it could have been the best food by an authentically Italian chef, it fell flat with too much salt. My veal was supposed to have a gorgonzola pear sauce but I did not taste any of those flavors. And the risotto my husband had was supposed to have asparagus in it, but only had a few anemic pieces of stalk. Our server was the only highlight: she was extremely attentive and kind, but what else could she do in two hours with no food coming out of the window but be attentive? She had very little to do with no food to serve. read more

We went there are a funeral service for my sister. There were 6 of us and we sat at the bar. The bartender waited on us and we asked for menus and it took forever to get a server to come over. Two of our 6 had a different server and ordered, got their food and ate before we ordered. Finally, we ordered two apps and our meals. We waited and waited and waited. We said something to the server who replied that they were short handed and only one cook. I asked for the manager and the owner, who was the bartender, came over just as the food came out. He had an attitude and acted like waiting 2 hours for food was acceptable. The food, I must say, was good. When I asked what he would do for us since we waited so long, he had some snippy come back. The server told me he took 10% off of my $300 tab. Well, thanks for the $28 discount, which didn't even amount to the price of one meal. I don't live there, but my family does and they will never be back. This owner's excuse was we came in unannounced and the cook wasn't ready for that. This owner needs to learn that he is responsible for his whole crew, instead of throwing them under the bus like he did with the cook. Never again! read more

I can't understand the reviews on this restaurant, our meal was inedible. Pasta sauce was like tomato paste with sugar, veal Romano was breaded soaked in oil. Salad was Greek olives and raisins which was horrible combination with oil and no vinegar. Manager asked if he could get us anything after seeing our plates not eaten ,he walked away and never asked if our food was ok. Really disappointing. read more

We come here to eat about once a week, sometimes twice. We have been working our way down the menu and have not had a bad meal. The pasta with vodka sauce is amazing, the chicken parm is so tender... the desserts are so good, you get so much food it's hard to squeeze in the dessert.
