John Forbing has been a personal friend and client of ours for over 5 years. He is very active in the community and goes above and beyond for his friends and clients. From day one my experience with this office has been terrible. I had already been with a State Farm office in Seattle WA before moving to Phillips Ranch CA and was very happy with the service I received there so I decided to stick with State Farm and this is the closest office to me so I didn't look around, I just signed up! I worked with Sharon (or Sherry) to set up my renters insurance prior to moving into my new apartment. I gave her my credit card information to charge me for one month but much to my surprise she charged the card for an entire year's worth. When I saw my online statement I was shocked and very upset. When I spoke to her she apologized and I assumed it was an honest mistake so I moved on. Then when I called back a few months later to add my vehicle, Sherry said it was no problem and once again took my bank information and said it would be taken care of as she was in contact with the Seattle office and they would provide her with any other information she needed. I continued to see money leave my bank account and go to State Farm on a monthly basis so I assumed the change was seamless. That is until I was in a fender bender on Christmas Eve. I called Sherry to make a claim and she informed me I was not yet insured by them. She said the switch was never made but thankfully I was still insured by the Seattle office. After that I spoke with her several times to make sure my vehicle policy had been transferred to ther office and the next month is finally was. Each time I've spoken with Sherry she has been rude or short with me. This tried my patience but I did my best to be respectful back to her, again assuming it was not on purpose. There were times I emailed her and received no reply for days or when I did receive a reply, sometimes it was just a few words in all caps, which made it seem like she was yelling and being short. I continued to overlook what I consider to be unnacceptable service simply because I didn't want to have to deal with working with again, even to cancel my policy. There were times when she seemed to be more patient and kind (and actually understand what it is that I needed) but they were fleating. My frustration grew and grew. A few months later, I noticed that my State Farm charge was about $120 higher than it had been in previous months but I had not received anything in the mail informing me of an increase so I called the office. I was told that the increase was due to my fender bender and that I had been mailed a notice. I told this woman (not Sherry but I don't remember her name) that I did not receive the notice and would like another sent to me ASAP. I did receive the info a few days later. I understand the rate had to go up as I was at fault but this was the last straw. I began to look around for a better rate and when I found one I called John Forbing's office and asked to speak with Sherry. It was John himself who answered and he said she was on the phone so he could help me. Let me just add a side note here... Although I was frustrated with the service I have received here I was raised to be kind to people and to speak to them how I would like to be spoken to. Because of this I have done my very best to be friendly to Sherry. There have been times, I admit, that I may have become a little short with her in return and I do regret that but a person can only take so much. When speaking to John (for the fist time) I was particularly sure to be overly friendly as he had done nothing to me and I was just happy to know this would be my last call to his office. I began my telling him I needed to cancel my policies with him. He abruptly asked me why. I told him that I found a better rate elsewhere. Understandably, he was not happy but I didn't not expect him to lecture me about "other" insurance comapanies. He told me State Farm was rated #1 in customer service and said "good luck" with the other guys. He then asked which company I was switching to and when I declined to answer that question he became upset and asked me WHY. I told him it was my business and I didn't care to share. From that point forward he was outright rude. I continued with my "please, thank you" and "sir" but my blood was boiling. I gave him all of my info and then he said "ok, goodbye" and hung up. I assume that meant he successfully cancelled my policies but I didn't have the opportunity to ask him because he hung up so abruptly. I thought about calling him back to verify (and to give him a piece of my mind about his customer service skills) but I didn't. Instead I called my bank to make sure they knew any further charges from State Farm are unauthorized. I NEVER write reviews, especially bad ones but this was too much. I hope I can prevent someone else from going through the frustration I have experience with this office. read more
