This review pertains to the office experience yesterday, not the abilities of the hygienist or dentist. I am seeking a local dentist in Marin County. Last week I received the most recent of many mailers for Kantor dental group, then called to make an appointment for a cleaning only. I discussed times and specifics for the appointment. I booked for 8 AM Sat. and was told the cleaning was 45 minutes. Yesterday I arrived on time and found no one was at the front desk. Waited for a few minutes. Had to call out and eventually a lady who came out, did not greet me or welcome me and said that the office staff had not arrived! (In our phone call a day before, I had clearly stated to Bridget, the nice office manager ahead of time that I was only booking the cleaning, -- no exam and that I was willing to pay with a check to receive they offered cleaning discount for $177.). On the phone she tried to upsell me a plan that I was not interested in and declined. After being directed to the room, I waited for hygienist who didn't come. Then a nice dentist Dr. Gutierrez came out and said he was there to examine me, and I said I had clearly stated no exam today I can only afford the cleaning. I then asked how much the exam! I reiterated that I was not yet booking an exam. The dentist said he didn't know how much it was went away and came back and said it would be $89 for 15 minutes. He asked if I had any recent x-rays and I said I do but will obtain them before booking. an exam l. I then waited for the hygienist who still didn't come. It is now over 30 minutes after my appointment. I got up and went to the front desk and inform the receptionist that it was too late to continue to wait for a hygienist when my appointment was at 8 AM, which was intentionally scheduled due to other obligations. I also asked her why the dentist came in when I had already discussed that I was only there for the cleaning. She looked in her computer at notes and said that the exam would be free. I said I wasn't informed of that but now it's 8:40 and I'm going to have to leave. The hygienist was busy working with another patient so apparently they double booked my appointment time. The sad thing about this whole thing was I was really looking for to try out a new local dentist. But the disorganization and bad first impression maybe question whether I should go back to this practice.

The procedure went smoothly, comfortably, and I felt cared for the entire time. After this good experience, I decided to have a deep clean there. I recently had a deep cleaning done with Dr. Andy, and I'm very happy with the experience. He really took the time to do a thorough and careful job and made sure I was comfortable throughout the entire procedure. I was especially nervous about the injection, but I honestly didn't feel any pain at all. Dr. Andy checked in with me regularly and was very patient and professional. All the staff there are very nice, care and helpful. I will continue go there. I would definitely recommended this office to anyone looking for high-quality dental care.

His enthusiasm and passion for dentistry is very obvious, and then, yesterday when I found myself in his chair having a gum grafting procedure over six lower interior teeth, I am happy to report that it was pain-free. He does a procedure many other periodontists steer clear of, (saying it's not possible) called the 'pinhole procedure,' which, instead of flapping the gums back, you make a small tunnel underneath the gum line of the teeth you are grafting, and feed the palatal gum through. It's relatively non-invasive, and the results are spectacular! One day out, I have big fat, beautiful gums, which I know will remodel in the next six months, but I couldn't be happier. She was detailed with her cleaning, and I felt like I was in the hands of someone who cared. Also, I needed a crown and some other dental work so I saw Dr. Smida for the first time. He had a calm and caring demeanor to start which was nice. His assistant- Katie was knowledgeable and friendly as well. Now that I have received his work on my teeth, I am very satisfied. My front tooth needed repair and now looks and feels better than ever and my new crown fits perfectly. It's nice to find a specialist who takes their job seriously - presenting fine work and has a nice personality to match. Very pleased with this entire office. Dr. Dehlinger offered a better price for the crown if I let him do the implant. Long story short, the implant failed after about 3 years and had to be redone at great expense. it failed due to operator error. Hence, I found an expert dentist to do the new crown after my oral surgeon placed the implant. It is solid as a rock.
