I've been a patient of Dr. Kirby for several years now, and really love his practice. Dr. Kirby knows his stuff -- listens to my questions and explains things very clearly. I've been there for routine cleanings, and a couple of cosmetic things, as well as for a mystery ailment (which later turned out to be a bad reaction to pine nuts which produced a harsh bitter/metalic aftertaste for about 2 weeks! -- it can happen, people!). I've never been disappointed with his professionalism, service, or eye for detail. Also, Ann at the front desk is super-nice, organized, and helpful. His dental hygenist (forget her name) is a little....hmmm...over-zealous with her cleanings. She's a nice woman, but I definitely prefer when Dr. Kirby himself does the cleanings -- and he often does. How awesome is that?! Just moved back to the area and found myself with an unexpected dental emergency. I chose Dr. Kirby based on the good reviews and his office location. -Plenty of parking -Nice spacious waiting area, good open layout. -Ann, the receptionist is very friendly and professional. -Despite a busy schedule and me being a new patient, they fit me in the next day. -They were on time. -The dental assistant was very friendly and regularly checked in while I was waiting on the dentist. -Dr. Kirby is very friendly and I found him to be upfront and honest. He wasn't trying to sell me on anything else and he took his time, despite his busy schedule, I didn't feel like he was rushing to get me out of there. He did an exam and then let me know he would need to refer me in order to get the problem fixed. I was very pleased with my visit and will be going back. read more

He was my dentist from age 4 and I never had any complaints. After 20yrs going to him, there was a mix up with my last appointment and I wrote down the wrong day. He charged me for missing the appointment, that's his policy. I just thought after 20+ years, he'd give me the benefit of the doubt. I'm getting a new dentist now. read more

I trust Dr. Kirby to recommend only the work that is needed and important for my dental care and to do an excellent job in administering the work. He and his staff are professional, courteous, and good humored. The office is clean and attractive and my wait time is never more than a few minutes. Like many people, I usually can't stand going to the dentist. (Low threshold for pain combined with previous not-so-great dentist experiences). Thus, I was very grateful today to find this practice. The interior is bright and clean and upbeat. The staff is super friendly and helpful. The hygienist, Becky, and Dr. Kirby were both friendly and skilled at their work. I left amazed - "that wasn't so bad at all!" For the first time in a long time, this is a dentist I will be happy to go back to. read more

I came to Dr. Kirby about two or three years ago. By circumstance, I've known and have used a lot of dentists. I'm very happy to have found him. He is among the very most skilled I've experienced. I like looking in the mirror when he's done with me. Dr. Kirby's work is excellent, he is swift, he causes little if any, and no unnecessary pain doing his work. He has a pleasant, humorous manner. He clearly has great professional pride and confidence in his work. He is quite gentle with my daughter and I assume all children. (My daughter didn't even know he'd given her a shot.) His receptionist, Ann, is charming, positive, attractive, competent, and pleasant. Dr. Kirby has a small staff and no unnecessary fancy dancy equipment. One pays reasonably for excellent experience and end product, not a big payroll and expensive equipment leases. This is a godsend for those of us without dental insurance or with high deductibles. read more

Nice, funny, and very competent! I'd done some damage to my teeth over the years, but Dr. Kirby managed to fix things like an expert craftsman. A few days later I'd visited a specialist about a different problem, and he commented on how the filling work that Dr. Kirby pulled off was among the best he'd ever seen! Dr. Kirby single handedly saved my tooth when I bit on an olive pit and broke off 3/4 of it. And he did it on a Saturday with out an assistant at all AND without the use of epinephrine in the novacaine which meant he had to inject novacaine every ten minutes or so (the epi keeps the area from bleeding as much but I am highly allergic to it). He crowned the tooth, saving me from needing a bridge! This was probably 10 yrs ago and I can't thank him enough! He is amazing! Tess G. read more

Ive been going to Dr. Kirby for over 15 years.. my whole family has. we thought he was great until we realized how terrible of a dentist he was. we came in for routine check ups and cleanings and he always said everything was fine.. and suddenly everyone in my family (my brother, myself, and my mother) had catastrophes in our mouths. I had multiple serious cavities and ended up needing 2 root canals, caps, and like 5 fillings.. my brother has had a baby tooth that never came out and there isnt an adult tooth under it (hes 22).. kirby always said that this was normal and there was nothing to worry about.. and now my brothers teeth are completely destroyed. he shouldve had braces and surgery years ago.. but now the damage is almost irreversible. my mothers teeth were "fine" as well until she had multiple cavities and ended up needing complete reconstructive surgery.. she had to have her jaw bone cut into.. teeth removed.. she ended up getting an infection.. and $30,000 in dental bills later.. kirby acted completely oblivious to what was going on. he is the worst dentist ive ever met. my entire familys teeth are in horrible shape because of his ignorance. ever other dentist ive seen to get another opinion has said he should lose his license because he is totally screwing with people. when i was seeing him, i always thought that he was great and good with his procedures and stuff.. until we saw other dentists and they were like what the hell is going on!? also, he totally overcharges. he charged me and my father both over 2,500 for a simple cap .. i would recommend seeing a dentist with better technology and more knowledge.. kirby is too 'old school'.. the new dentists ive seen have the newest technology and they charge the same price as kirby did for state-of-the-art care. read more

My husband and I have gone to see Dr. Kirby for years. And always been happy with his care, the quality of his dental team and the amazing "like family" service we get from his office staff (run by his darling wife). The office is run warmly and efficiently (appointments start on time and schedules are kept). And there is a calm and wonderful feeling in the office. But our 25 year old son started going to see Dr. Kirby just a few years ago, and recently Dr. Kirby identified a growth in his mouth, monitored it, took quick action and referred him to a top oral surgeon (tied to UCSF). Dr. Kirby's careful attention, personalized monitoring, incredible care and professional referral network allowed us to get on top of a problem that could have been devastating. We can't thank him enough. I do not give referrals lightly, and I work in the healthcare profession so I know "good" and "bad" practitioners. Dr. Kirby and his staff get five stars in my book and we are lucky to have him on our family's care team. read more
