I had several unpleasant experiences with this clinic. First, a few months ago, I emailed Natalie to ask for an estimate for a deep cleaning. She replied that they would not be able to provide an estimate unless I made an appointment with them first. Second, I have one tooth bridge, but I received a bill charging me for three teeth. I emailed them about the mistake, and they eventually corrected it. The third issue was that the back of my bridge had several sharp edges that were cutting my tongue. Dr. Yee adjusted it once for me, but I could still feel the sharp edges afterward. It was seriously affecting my daily life, so I went back a second time. During that visit, I felt that Dr. Yee was unhappy about having to fix it again and did not pay attention to the issue. He kept shaking his head and told me not to use my tongue to touch the sharp edge. When I accidentally closed my mouth, Dr. Yee said, "I told you not to close your mouth. Some people just never listen. When I say turn your head right, they turn left. When I say turn left, they turn right." Throughout the entire visit, he seemed impatient. Although he did another quick adjustment, the problem was still not fully resolved. At that time. I felt like I was being traded like a idiot. I truly believed those sharp edges were fixable, so I mentioned the issue to Dr. Seda, who was performing my implant procedure. He immediately saw the problem and went the extra mile to smooth out the sharp edges for me. It took him less than a minute to adjust it, and the issue was completely solved. After my experience, I will never go back to Dr. Yee's clinic again. read more

When I moved to San Rafael, I went to a local dentist for the first time who began recommending all sorts of expensive procedures. When i told her i had never been recommended any of this, she said, "there's a difference between East Coast and West Coast smiles." So I spent the next ten years getting dental checkups at my childhood dental office in CT. That worked until I had a crown pop out and I had to find a local dentist fast. The first dentist I called, Dr. Kirby Yee, saw Mr that morning. He's honest, efficient, and seems uninterested in up-selling. And his office administrator is a total pro. My my insurance misspelled my name in their database and couldn't seem to correct it for months--yet Natalie found a way to get around the insurance company's mistakes to get the billing done. I've been seeing Dr. Kirby every 6 months for as long as I can remember (since he took over from Dr. Hennessy, and I had been seeing Dr. Hennessy since I was a child and first started going to the dentist). So, I've been visiting this dental office for my entire life. I recently got a new job and a new dental insurance plan, which I was sad to find out did not include Dr. Kirby as a covered provider. So, I'm leaving this review to recommend to as many as possible to go to Dr. Kirby for your dentistry needs. He and his staff are fantastic -- they make you feel welcome, remembering details about your life and following up on things you mentioned in the last visit. Kirby has helped me with stubborn TMJ issues, referring me to a jaw specialist in Marin and fitting me with a nightguard. Every visit is easy, painless, and thorough. I'm sad to no longer be a patient of Kirby's, but I would recommend him to anyone looking for a top-notch dentist! read more

I visited Dr. Kirby Yee's office today for the first time as a new patient. I went in for a cleaning, x rays, and an exam. Roberto who did my X Rays and cleaning did a good job. Natalie in the front desk was kind. The reason for my 3 stars is that the dentist, Dr. Kirby Yee seemed very rushed and not interested in actually staying to talk to me about other dental concerns. He asked if I got any fillings done and I hadn't heard what he said and he goes, "FILLINGS!!?" not very comforting. He did a quick exam then started walking out the door and asked if I had any questions. I only asked him about cavities because he was already walking out. Also, he/they never reviewed the dental patient concerns/history forms with me. I am not sure what the point of filling those forms out if they don't even get looked at. I keep ask, Kirby Yee the simple and base question which number of teeth have cavity, Kirby Yee said I should talk to Chinese dentist, because I don't understand his English. Shame on you- Kirby Yee, you are Chinese born in American, unable speak your own language. You unable to answer my simple and base question. I studied Finance in Harvard Business School and have over 30 years' experience in financial reporting, tax returns, and budgeting. I'm bilingual in English, Mandarin and Cantonese. I've tried other dentists, including one only 5 minutes from my house, but I've always returned to him, even if it means driving 50 miles from Redwood City, where I live, to San Rafael. Dr. Yee is everything you would want in a dentist: experienced, knowledgeable, trustworthy and gentle. In fact, he is one of the few dentists that uses a high-tech laser, which means no more drills, pain, or fear!!!! His rates are reasonable and unlike other dentists, he doesn't up-sell products and services that you don't need to make a quick buck. As a longtime client of Dr. Brian Hennesy, Dr. Yee had some awfully big shoes to fill. Kirby has done so and raised the bar. Dr. Yee is everything you want in a dentist; personable, trustworthy, precise and extremely knowledgeable. When my infant daughter is ready to get her first check-up there is no question where we are taking her. We moved to the East Bay and still make the trip for cleanings or a cracked tooth. I had been going to Kirby for years. He is a dentist you can rely on and trust. He never encouraged any dental work not truly necessary. I stayed with Kirby for 10 years after moving from the area. This year I had to obtain a dentist closer to my home. Going to the dentist never bothered me. The staff is excellent, office comfortable and Kirby was fantastic. I was driving an American Red Cross Emergency Response Vehicle from Washington state down to the Northern California Wildfire Response, and my crown fell off. I tried using OTC temporary fixes, but none worked, so I was in bad shape and not able to eat much. I made it through the weekend, but come Monday morning, I knew I needed some professional help. I went down to a cluster of dental buildings in San Rafael and found only one clinic that opened at 7:30 am. As soon as I explained my circumstances, Dr. Yee's friendly and kind staff worked their magic and fit me into their busy Monday morning schedule. Before long, I was in the chair with Dr. Yee, who expertly and painlessly fixed me up. I could not have hoped for a better treatment and outcome. I have been going to this office for years and Kirby has always been very kind but his dental hygienists aren't always very polite and helpful. Recently, the receptionist, if there is one, has gotten terrible at returning calls. Last time I needed to go in for a routine cleaning I was three months late because it took three months to finally have the receptionist book my appointment. They have very limited options for appointment times and the receptionist doesn't always return calls or emails and never checks the online appointment requests. This office is always fun to visit we can engage in conversation of any topic especially sports! Dr. Yee is a miracle worker in the tooth area and his work is amazing. He makes sure to let us know what's going on and other possibilities around it so his patients are always in the light.
