Over the Summer I purchased my first new car, a Mazda3 i Sport... and I absolutely love it! Before visiting the dealership, I did quite a bit of research on Mazda models and knew what monthly payment would fit into my budget. Having this information upfront made the process of looking for a new car a lot less open-ended and intimidating. Tim Dati (sales & leasing) also made buying a new car really fun and as stress-free as possible. With my budget in mind, Tim was able to upgrade me to the i Sport model, that included a folding rear seat, keyless/ignition entry and Bluetooth (which I really wanted)! The car color that I initially liked was not available, however through some negotiations I was able to get a similar color for an even better price! I was also pleasantly surprised to find that with a good credit score, they were able to offer me the lowest interest-rate I had seen anywhere! In addition to the upgrades and price reductions, I can say that Tim Dati is simply a nice guy. He listened to my needs, answered all of my questions and took time to explain the ins-and-outs of the car before I drove it off the lot. We had some nice conversions and laughed quite a bit, it made me feel comfortable and confident in a situation that could have been totally overwhelming. I'd also like to speak highly of Brigham Lynn (finance manager). He was immediately friendly and professional. He put me at ease while signing the all of the paper work. He did offer extended warranties and extras for the car but never made me feel pressured an any way. In fact when I needed to crunch a few numbers, he left the room to my fiancé and I, and offered us some candy while I double checked a few things. I left the dealership that night feeling excited about my purchase and didn't have an ounce of regret! When the time comes, I plan on taking my car to have it serviced at this location and I'm hoping that it will be as positive as my buying experience. Down the road, when I'm ready for an upgrade, I think I'll be doing all my business with John Kennedy Mazda! :) read more

Had a pretty bad experience here. Started off ok, walked in, the salesman DJ and manager Cheryl were very nice to me (note: of course expected, but I had worser experiences walking into other dealerships as a female customer prior to this). I told them SPECIFICALLY that I had a out of state license as I had recently moved that I would NOT be able to change for the next couple of weeks. I was assured it would not be a problem as long as I was willing to go to that state before 30 days and had an address I could use there, which was no problem. I was told they dealt with this situation plenty of times before. Fast forward to day of me picking up the car - complete nightmare, the address on my driver's license needed to match the address listed on my car insurance (which I had to get the night before I was going to pick up the car) which had to match my current state of residency and current home address which was where the license plate had to get mailed to. This was all not communicated to me beforehand, and they even told me "well we didn't know it had to be like this until we did your application just now" and "we just don't really see this situation" - oook... so then if you haven't dealt with out of state licenses before, then WHY did you tell me you did. Then I start getting emails going "just go to the DMV now and change your license" - which I had already explained to them would not be possible for multiple weeks and was the entire point of me explaining I had an out of state license in the first place. Then I get told, "oh don't worry, then just get a state ID with your current address on it, I guarantee that'll work." Surprise surprise, I call the DMV to ask if it would or not, and nope, not only would it NOT work, I'd have to give up my out of state driver's license to get what would have been a useless state ID. At the same time, the car insurance company rep tells me he's never heard that the address of my driver's license has to match the address listed on my car insurance so I get completely conflicting information. Overall, I felt lied to, harassed and misled. It was like the people at this dealership would literally do anything to make a sale happen. I never got an apology for any of this, just got told, "oh well laws change and we had a misunderstanding." And all the while, I had been receiving daily emails from multiple different people within the dealership (all automated I'm sure and all not knowing the other was ALSO sending the same emails). For personal reasons, I was unable to change my out of state license the first time I went to the DMV so I had to wait a couple weeks before I could actually get it changed. In the end, this entire situation could have been avoided if people were honest with me in the first place. If you don't know something, tell me you don't know! Anyway, I finally got my spiffy new driver's license a couple weeks later, and proceeded to get a car from ANOTHER dealership that was much more honest and upfront. read more

We bought a 2013 Mazda 3 hatchback here and had no issues with the salesperson or finance person. However, we purchased the Kennedy care package only to find out later that all services offered in that package are done at another third party location by another company. We also found out that things we were told were covered (scratches on our bumper) are not covered. The manager David Mancinelli expressed his sympathy that we felt duped and offered a free tube of touch up paint which he would mail to us. This never happened. I emailed him with no response. I received a congratulatory 1 year anniversary email regarding the car from someone named Tony Saxon. I told Tony about the touch up paint situation and he said he would get in touch with David and make sure the paint was sent to us. Two months have gone by with two subsequent emails to him and no reply. We will not be purchasing any more vehicles from John Kennedy Mazda. The car itself is great though. Update 1/2/2015: The manager called and left me a voicemail after seeing this review I assume. He apologized and assured me that it was an oversight and the paint would be shipped to me immediately. I also received a call from Tony Saxon and he also assured me that the paint was sent and I should be receiving it. Over two weeks later, still no paint. I emailed back to let them know and Tony suggested I just come pick up the paint. I verified my mailing address with him again and let him know that a trip to Conshohocken is rather inconvenient (about an hour each way). No response to that email. Update 1/30/2015: Still nothing back from the manager David Mancinelli or Tony Saxon. Terrible customer service. Go elsewhere. read more

Yeah i get it, ppl are on vacation, not like its a saturday.. When everyone looks at cars, Oh wait it was. This guy wanted us out. Treated us like we just got out licenses yesterday and clueless. We did our homework and knew what we wanted. He dismissed us like he was late for dinner, argued, and asked for a deposit to even LOOK For the car we wanted at another dealer. Don't usually write reviews, but my experience here wasn't the best. Went in for a test drive a week ago for the Mazda 3, and that went extremely well. Salesmen had a lot of knowledge about the car, and didn't push to sell. I took a week to get my own financing together, and see other options. Came back because my experience was so great to see if I could purchase. I used true car, and received an out of door price confirmation through email. When I returned to the dealership, I had every intention of buying a car from them, but things went south when they evaluated my trade in. I know you will never receive full value of the car , but the appraisal value was very insulting. My car in fair (kbb) or rough condition (NADA) is worth over $5,000, and they offered $2,800. And their reason was (new tires and minor hail damage on the top of the car ). Long story short I went to Pacifica Mazda and they offered me $4,000 and probably would have went higher if I kept at it. I ultimately decided to keep my old car, but did also purchase a brand new Mazda 3 from Pacifica instead. I would have made that same decision here if the salesmen attitude didn't turn me off from giving them my business. He certainly didn't have the attitude of wanting to make a deal. read more

I've had some terrible experiences at dealerships in the past, however, this was DEFINITELY not one of them. I went in yesterday (10/12/2019), with my wife, to look at leasing a new 2019 CX-5 Touring AWD. This would replace her passed-down 2011 BMW X5 xDrive35d (diesel) with over 112,000 miles and no warranty. We wanted a CX-5 in the Soul Crystal Metallic exterior color, black leather interior, and the Touring Preferred package. They had one ready for us once we got there, and had more than one in stock...which I was very happy about. I was prepared to leave empty-handed, since that's how my past experiences went. The main reasons being that I didn't like the salesperson and/or they weren't willing to negotiate. I was blown away by this dealership in multiple ways. First, by the cleanliness and modern appearance of John Kennedy Mazda. Second, the salesperson. Our salesperson was Mac Hirsch, and he was phenomenal. His personality was warm, inviting, and friendly. He was not pushy or overbearing at all. He let us test drive the car without him, and he also took our old BMW trade-in and got us a pretty good price for it as well. I didn't give him a desired price per-month initially, and the first number he gave us was okay. Although, after that, I gave him a target price that was a decent amount lower, and he met me there. After shaking on the deal, we were handed off to Victor Sarmiento to sign all of the paperwork. He was incredibly kind, friendly, and expedient as well. The evening concluding with a quick and thorough explanation of all of the features from Mac to my wife, and we were out of there with a shiny new Mazda. Additionally, the paint was in perfect condition, even for a new car. No scratches or swirls from incorrect washing methods or the factory-installed protective wraps. It was flawless. Having my two 'older' Mazdas (the '86 RX7 has possible hoopty status) serviced for a couple of years here has proved to be a pleasant experience as these things go. Diagnostics have been efficient, time spent waiting for work done (they let me wait in the nice lounge for the small jobs) not too long, and costs have not been as exorbitant as they could be at a dealership. I believe they've much improved over the last year. They've worked with me to get difficult issues resolved for the aforementioned hoopty, and keep my cars humming along. read more

I purchased a 2014 CX5 from another dealer in March 2013. I had experienced bucking, vibrations, and backfiring like noises since purchasing it brand new. After 2 service visits to another dealer, both times they were "unable to identify my problem." Frustrated and worried about my safety, I took it to John Kennedy Mazda who was able to determine with in minutes of driving it what my problem was. They called me immediately to fully explain to me I had been driving this car for a year with a broken tie rod and an out of whack rear differential. The customer service I received was by far superior to any dealer I have ever dealt with. Keith and Jim specifically called me daily with updates as to what parts where needed and what work was being done. A loyal 3 time Mazda owner, John Kennedy is my new go to dealership. On a side note - being that my car was still under factory warranty, I was disappointed to learn that they do not offer "loaner cars" just discounted priced rental cars. I purchased a CX5 in April 2015. While it took 5 hours to complete the car prep and paperwork (and I paid cash) the transaction was OK. Since then I have had to bring the car in for service 3 times, all for routine things but in every case something else, also minor, occurred which required me to go back to get it corrected. I have purchased 6 new cars over the years, this is my third Mazda. The "customer service" at John Kennedy Mazda is the worst I have ever encountered. When I had the opportunity to speak to Scott Wister, the Service Director, he made no eye contact, failed to respond to my introduction nor shook the hand I held out. He merely grabbed my keys and walked away. When he returned my keys, he shoved them at me and walked away. Love the car, loathe the dealership. Do not buy a car from John Kennedy Mazda!! read more

Two other Mazda dealerships in the area gave me a much better deal, both on the price of a new vehicle and on the trade-in value for my car, in far less time than I spent dealing with John Kennedy Mazda. Both other dealerships valued my trade over the phone based on VIN number and mileage, whereas John Kennedy made me bring the car in and then gave me a low-ball offer and refused to budge. In addition, John Kennedy's sales person and manager told me (twice) that the exterior and interior color combo that I wanted was NOT available at any other dealership in the area, even though I had seen the car I wanted online at another dealership and asked them to check it. They told me it must have been sold. I left and went home and found the exterior/interior color combo I wanted at the other dealership, called them and bought the car that day from the other dealership. If you want the best deal on both a new car and your trade-in in the least amount of time, take your business elsewhere! read more

When I decided it was time for a new car, I never considered looking at a different brand or going to a different dealership. My salesperson, DJ, was courteous, friendly and most importantly, not high pressure. The sales manager, Cheryl, was attentive. She made sure that I knew I could phone her if I had any questions and she thanked me for my loyalty to the dealership. Andrew, the person who took me through the final stage of the purchase, explained the available car care upgrades, answered all of my questions, and never did a hard-sell of those products. I wanted to buy another Mazda because of that brand's quality. I wanted to buy another car from Kennedy Mazda because of the quality of the sales staff. I bought my first new car (Mazda CX 5 Touring) yesterday from Ethan at JK Mazda. I had done a bit of shopping before coming to John Kennedy and I can honestly say, I had by far the best experience at John Kennedy. I was confident that Ethan was honest and working hard to get me the best car in my budget, for the best price. They weren't sleazy like the other salesmen down the road. The process was seamless, the staff was friendly and personable. At the other dealerships, the sales people would speak to my father even though I was the one buying the car, but Ethan made sure to speak to me. He truly went above and beyond to get me exactly what I wanted, including having a colleague drive the exact car I wanted to Plymouth Meeting the same day so that I could drive away with my car. Most of the costs that were extra at other dealers were built right into the (lower) cost of my lease at JK. The response I received which appears here is incorrect. I was not invited to speak to the general manager regarding any options nor was any solution offered that I declined. To the contrary, I had hoped someone would get back to me with such an offer. I assure you nobody did. I sent that email on Dec 22 after speaking with Mark on the 19th. If what was said in the response here was true-my complaint wouldn't make sense as these are the very things I suggested should have happened. I already mentioned that Mazda wasn't responsible for the oil filter failure, however, there can be other reasons (other than a faulty sensor) why a check engine light comes on. Let me also add here-Back in 2010 when I purchased this car I chose Kennedy Mazda over Toyota because of the positive experience I received from your employees. Beware of being taken!!!Brought car in to have them hook it up to the mazda computer as our mechanic couldn't do so it was a computer problem. Anyway the people in the service department tried to rip us off by saying the car needed things it didn't and feeding us the business but my husband knows about cars and called him on the lies. So my daughter picked up the car and they charged us $117 just to hook it up to the computer, they did nothing but try to rip us off. Don't trust this dealership!!! read more

ZERO STARS. My car was not starting and I was told I had to take my car to a Mazda dealer to get it fixed because the other auto shop could not fix it. This Mazda told me I needed a new alternator, new battery, AND new transmission. The total number that they pulled out of their ass was 6,400!!!!! After refusing all "required work" I had my car towed back home to a transmission specialist that my dad has known for years. He took a look at the car and it turns out the alternator was the ONLY thing wrong with my car. After purchasing the new alternator and having it installed, the total cost was $326. I want to reiterate that there was NOTHING wrong at all with my battery or transmission. A faulty alternator can cause both the battery and transmission to shut down, which put my car in limp mode. Anyone can do the math, but that's a difference of almost $6,100! DO NOT TAKE YOUR CAR HERE!! I should be suing Mazda for false information. Any real mechanic or genuine person would have took the time to look at the transmission and battery and replace the alternator before ASSUMING everything needs replaced. Completely disgusted that they tried to rip me off. So unprofessional and rude. I will NEVER let this dealer "fix" my car or any one else's car that I know. A real professional business would be looking out for the best interest of their clients, instead of trying to rip them off by THOUSANDS of dollars! read more

Whenever I look out the window at my new 2014 Mazda 3 (Sport), I want to go drive it somewhere. This car has made driving fun again. For the real fun, you need the stick shift models. I first tested the automatics with the salesman, Josh Vey, who was knowledgeable and patient. After driving sticks most of my life, I had somehow convinced myself to consider an automatic. In stop-and-go traffic, an automatic is the preferable mode. But that is the only condition I can think of. The cars were OK in automatic, but when I thought about spending $20,000 or more for this unexciting an experience, I couldn't imagine it. (How do those greenies drive those boring Priuses? Maybe they are so busy patting themselves on the back for their virtuousness that they don't notice how gruesomely boring they are.) So I tried the Mazda 3 and the 6 with manual transmissions. What a difference! I liked the 3 better for its responsiveness, its better looks, and its gasoline efficiency. Having driven a Camry stick for the last 12 years, there was a trade-down effect in some areas: interior space, stereo speaker sound, and ride smoothness. But for pure and simple fun, without going into the sportscar niche, the Mazda 3 is the car. As for the Kennedy dealership, I would give salesman Josh five stars for helping me over several visits and making the experience almost pain free. One star deducted because the business manager was out at a meeting for a while, forcing me to twiddle my thumbs before we could finish the last of the paperwork. I spent more time than it should have taken to make this purchase, but the fact is I am still so happy with the car that I am not complaining. The Mazda 3 also has a nicely different look to it, at a time when almost all cars look alike -- bland, bland, blandsville. read more

My wife purchased a new Mazda, and we were satisfied with that process. The problem came when we realized that we left 6 CD's in the CD changer of the trade in. We called our salesman when we got home, and he immediately got on it. Unfortunately, the CD's were gone, including two that were signed by the artists we bought them from at meet and greets after concerts. Kennedy's response was, "without proof of who stole them, there is nothing we can do". Really? One of your employees stole them. How about asking them? How about checking your own records to see who worked on the car? How about holding the service manager responsible for fostering a culture of petty theft from Kennedy customers? If you ever make the mistake of having your car serviced here, make sure you empty it of anything not bolted down. Then again, they do have the tools to unbolt things. Buyer beware. read more

Terrible Customer Service at the Service Center: I went to the service center since my check engine light came on. Upon arriving there was no one at the desk. After waiting awhile someone showed up and asked if they could help. I told them I didn't have an appointment due to my check engine light just coming on, she kind of rolled her eyes as if I was inconveniencing her in someway. She then told me that the service center was on break. This was interesting since I had just been around back and talked to the service center employees who were working about my car before entering the dealership. So she basically lied to me and I would have much appreciated a honest answer that they were just to busy at the time But it didn't seem like it when I was around back... Now I understand that it's tough to just take a walk in sometimes but all I was asking for was a diagnosis of my check engine light to see what my cars computer was saying and if you know anything about cars that only takes about 5 minutes. I wasn't asking them to fix it... She then told me that it would be $96 to check the cars computer and that I would have to make an appointment. I said would that appointment be today which she states no. I told her that I would really need it to get checked seeing that it's important that the light came on and I had to drive my car about 1000 miles the next few days. She didn't seem to care and told me that I would still have to make an appointment for another day. I then told her that where I bought my care at Piazza Mazda in West Chester they would always check it for free but I do not live there anymore, which is why I was at their dealership. Again she kind of shrugged her should as to say what are you going to do. I then left with a terrible taste in my mouth about that dealership. I'm not sure if the entire dealership is ran that way or if it was just the service center or just that employee in general but it was not a great experience. I then took my car to Piazza Mazda of West Chester where of course they looked at it free of charge, diagnosed it and then fixed it and it cost about $500 and that was $500 that John Kennedy Mazda didn't get. If you need your car fixed I highly suggest not bringing it back to John Kennedy Mazda... I was also in the market for a new car and now I'm not going to them if I choose to buy another Mazda. read more

Stop by the service center today. Talk with Will regarding a windshield crack on a CX-5 2016.5 car was bought in Oct 2016. Very disappointed with Will's demeanor in attempting to help me with this issue. Although Mazda appears to be a good product the service is terrible. I didn't feel the service department was willing to help me resolve my issue, brief dialogue and quickly dismissed me. My takeaway, Thanks for buying a car from us, but that windshield is your issue and we aren't willing to help. This treatment will be remembered in any future car purchase of me, my wife, and my 4 children of driving age. Extremely Disappointed. read more

I purchased a car here 2 months ago. As I drove it home, the check engine light came on. The next day they told me they just replaced a couple vacuum hoses, and later I learned that they replaced the catalytic converter with a generic after-market one that was not suited for my vehicle WITHOUT TELLING ME. This means my check engine light comes on and stays on, until I can replace it with an appropriate one. Two weeks after I purchased it, they replaced the engine with a junkyard engine. They had the car for over two weeks, and while they were working on it, they broke mass flow connectors, my side light, and cracked the windshield. They used an after-market engine and did not connect it properly which has cost me over $1000 to repair their mistakes. I had my car appraised today, and it is now worth less than one-third than what I paid for it, which I was told was directly related to the junkyard engine and the inappropriate catalytic converter. This is by far the worst customer service experience of my life. Their service department made me lose the entire purchase value of the vehicle and has refused to pay for the repairs due to their mistakes. I would steer very clear of this dealership and service department. read more

Poor business ethics!!!! Bought a preowned CERTIFED car which didn't start when salesman took us to view it. When negotiated price, manager refused to replace battery saying his service department said it was full. I bought the car and asked him to put that in writing, he specified battery replacement for 90 days.........the battery was completely dead shortly thereafter. Not a good way to treat your customers or bring them back to your sales or service department!! Done with you! read more

Visited the dealership on Memorial day weekend to test drive a Mazda 3. Happened to find a low mileage vehicle we liked in the lot, and was able to take a test drive with no wait. Salesman (Tony) was very knowledgeable, and able to provide us with the vehicles background information. We ended up purchasing the car a couple of days later, with Tony coming in on his day off, at my request, to close the deal. All in all a very pleasant experience. The staff here is always pleasant and accommodating. I had purchased a Mazda Tribute from John Kennedy back in 2005 (still have it) and have been dealing with their service department ever since. They are top notch and I wouldn't go anywhere else. The only item that I am waiting on is the owners manual that was missing from the vehicle. read more

Horrible customer service! The salesman was great but everything else was beyond horrible. We bought a used 2008 CX9 (paid cash) which was supposed to have been thoroughly inspected by the dealer. We took it to our mechanic and learned about several issues, one was that the dip stick was broken off. As the oil was supposedly changed by the dealer it's amazing they overlooked this. They agreed to fix the issue but then created several other issues like an oil leak and loose parts. When you call the dealer for any thing you never get a live person (there is a receptionist but she's not able to locate live people), managers don't call you back they have the salesperson call you. We were told to drive on an expired temporary plate because they hadn't finished the necessary paperwork. We were told they were a very busy dealer and that's why a live person isn't able to answer when you call. However, the numerous times I had to make the 2 hour drive to the dealer and the many times I had to sit and wait for the car to be repaired I barely saw anyone car shopping. What I did see was a lack of staff, a lack of courtesy and a lack of car repair knowledge. I've since learned they're are better Mazda dealers out there like Piazza Mazda.
