I was having muscle spasms in my back and had incredible pain, and one of the girls I work with recommended I come in to see John Porter for his Sports Massage. I'm a dancer by trade so my muscles are always under tremendous strain and stress. I told Mr Porter about the places I was having the most trouble (my back, my shoulders) and the pressure I prefer (strong) and he set to work. Not for one moment did I feel uncomfortable, quite the opposite! I have never felt so relaxed in my life! After one hour sports massage the muscle spasms I was having in my back went away, and after seening Mr Porter 3 times, I feel like a new woman! What can I say? John Porter is a skilled MT and does a great job. I normally get either Deep Tissue or a Swedish Massage from him and his work does wonders to relieve neck and shoulder pain that I've dealt with all of my life. He knows exactly how to find the sweet spot between deep massage and causing pain, I have never had any problems with his techniques... and I'm pretty choosy with massages so that is saying something! Mr. Porter's space is clean and has a great vibe, it's easy to relax in that environment and another relaxing thing is not having to battle for a parking space, because there's easy parking out back. He makes it super easy to schedule appointments and will work with you if something comes up. As long as he's around I doubt I will be seeing any other MTs. he really is the best. read more

John is such an amazing MT, I have been going to him for 2 years now and I can't recommend him highly enough! His location is rather unassuming, but don't let this fool you! I was a massage newbie when I came to John, and he makes me feel entirely comfortable, relaxed, and at ease each time I find myself on his table. If you have special needs or carry your stress in a certain place, let John know and he will go to town on that spot (in a good way) and loosen you up expertly. I had neck and shoulder pain (this was the reason I started coming to John) and after two appointments, the pain that I had experienced almost constantly was gone. I've been coming to see Mr. Porter for massages for about 1 year, and can't thank him enough. I was having so much back pain and doctors weren't able to help, or wanted me to get on crazy pain kills. The pain was so bad I was willing to try anything, which is what led me to look into trying massage therapy. My sister recommended that I call John up, and at first I was wary about having a male masseuse, as a female, but I shouldn't have been concerned because John is not only really good at what he does, but he's also a total professional and I feel completely comfortable in his care. I wanted to update my review to add that I am still visiting Mr. Porter for massage 2 times per month and his work has continued to benefit my health in many ways! My back problems are so much better than they used to be, and I am able to stand up for a full work day (as my job requires me to do) without experiencing any pain. I have no words to describe my opinion about John! I have been going to John Porter for more than a year. I have always appreciated how John inquires first about any areas that are sore, stiff, and/or troubling. He is skilled in his approach to relax tight muscles, and relax me to the point where I occasionally fall asleep. I'm also very thankful to John for encouraging me to be tested for sleep apnea. This guy gives massage therapists a bad name!! He was creepy, touched places I have NEVER been touched (breasts, between the legs, Butt crack rubbing, etc...) I am convinced he has a sexual predator background with how this made me feel. I reported him to authorities, and confirmed he is not registered as a massage therapist. I have been working with John for some time now. I have a pinched nerve in my left leg and I am constantly in extreme pain. Twice a week we do stretching combined with massage and other rehab exercises. I am proud to say I have little to no pain today. It was a lot of hard work and it took a lot of discipline to rehab it but with out John I wouldn't be pain free. read more
