Placed 2 orders & were ready in 15 minutes Very clean restaurant, reminds me of the pizzerias in the 70 & 80's .... So nostalgic! Great memories going for pizza on Friday nights.... After watching this on social media, we wanted to give this place a try. This place is located in a strip mall, so there's plenty of parking. The pizzeria is small, with hard orange booths with wooden tables lining the orange and white wall, the pizza counter standing next to it, and mosaic lamps hanging over the tables. Tapestries with pictures of Italy hang on the wall as well and there is a mounted TV that plays above the refrigerators near the entrance. We ordered the following: Johnzarotti with sausages- this was delicious. It was nicely fried and poofy. Daughter loved this item the most. 6 Garlic knots- this was pretty good and garlicky. Small pie with anchovies- this was ok. It was a little underwhelming. The anchovies were a bit salty and overwhelmed the pizza. Bottom of the pizza wasn't crispy, also. Service wasn't friendly. Hubs felt that the owner/worker was glaring at us the whole time we were there. I didn't know because I wouldn't look up. But, I got the vibe when I asked how much were the garlic knots and I felt his unfriendliness when he answered. read more

Such a small, unassuming pizza joint that has AMAZING panzarrotti's! I couldn't say where the first panzarrotti originated , but will say that John's Pizza does them justice. We came because we heard about a $9 "Johnzarotti"- their version of a panzarotti, which is a FRIED sort of inside out pizza that is a South Jersey classic rarely found anywhere else. Only one place churns out the real deal, and they allow other places to sell them. This is their take on it, and it's double the size and just slightly different. No bubbly skin, not as sweet of a crust, a slightly tangier tomato sauce. Still really really good. Be prepared for a messy meal. Licking of fingers is likely so if that makes you ill, look away. Wanted to try their famous version of panzarotti. Holy cow! Huge portion and tasty with generous sauce and cheese fillings inside. Daughter wants her wings dry with sauce on the side. I'm an equal opportunist. I will try a pizza from anywhere and I've never met one I didn't like. But John's Pizza is the pizza from which all other pizzas should be compared. The sauce is savory, the cheese and toppings are always plentiful, and the crust is nice and thin with a crispy outer snap and a soft, chewy interior. And if you're feeling especially hungry, get the Johnzarotti. This ain't no rinky dink, pre-made panzarotti that so many shops shell out. This is basically their full pizza flipped over and fried. Let me preface this by saying that I lived for 30+ years in South Jersey and whenever I return, even for a couple of days, I always dig into the quintessential South Jersy fare. I got the Johnzarroti and a cheese steak. Were they the best in South Jersey? No. Were they second best? A resounding yes. The original panzarotti is fried slightly better but the filling is no difference. The cheese steak was excellent but fighting several great ones nearby. I'm not familiar with Mount Ephraim, my son just moved over there and I was picking my granddaughter up to take her to lunch! So this was the first place I could find and to my surprise it was awesome! We had pizza and fries! We loved it! The place was clean and atmosphere was nice! The staff was friendly! If you've never been to John's you're missing out. If you've never had a Johnzarotti you're missing out even more. Growing up, whenever we visited Jersey, this was a must stop. That definitely didn't change on my last visit. Knowing my boyfriend's love of pizza, I had to bring him here. It's not a traditional slice but it's even better. It's perfectly fried pizza dough stuffed with sauce and cheese...and I mean cheeeeese! It still doesn't disappoint after all these years. It's so freakin' good. You can get other things in it too but I usually go with the traditional cheese. It's a large portion so you're more likely to put a dent in the traditional preparation. Suffice it to say this place is always a winner in my book and we just accomplished giving them another fan. If you're ever in the area, make sure you visit this place. read more

There aren't many places that make fried panzarotti's where I live. You'll most likely have to settle for a stromboli. But here the panzarotti is renamed the Johnzarotti... For $6 bucks, you'll get a huge, deep fried johnzarotti.. Only 50 cents more to add a topping inside. The pizzas, cheese steaks, and hoagies are all very good also. read more

Went there for a pizza. They told me 20 minutes. After about 40 minutes I started to complain. They started yelling back at me saying that my order wasn't important because I didn't order by phone. I mean, what the hell. This is the only place I guess where the customer is always wrong. They have really gone down hill in the last 15 years. I've been eating at Johns since I can remember, they've had 3 different stores all in the same shopping center and I've eaten at all 3 since childhood, the Johnzarotti is hands down THE best of the best, the owner may come across as a little standoffish, as I've read in some of the reviews but he is actually a very nice, family oriented guy who genuinely is grateful to his customers and cares for the community that employs him, the sausage peppers and cheese Stromboli is amazing and the slices are boardwalk worthy, you will not be disappointed read more

I tried John's Pizza for one reason- because I read the glowing reviews here on yelp. With a few exceptions (Federal Donuts), yelp reviews are a pretty good gauge. The reviews were so glowing, I had to try this place. I got a Cheesesteak (John's Special or something of that order). It should have been good- peppers, onions, mushrooms. I took it home and found it to be very soggy and utterly mediocre. Bleh! I had read so many raves about the pizza, I took two slices to go. It wasn't even decent. Both things I got were totally lame. I wonder who wrote those glowing reviews? Employees? Family? Friends? There is a big disconnect between the yelp reviews and reality. read more

Our family has been going to John's for over 30 years at the minimum and ordered a chicken cheesesteak after a day of hunting only to come home to find mold on the bottom of the roll. When called to say something & taking the food back ownership argued there was no mold so as far as concerned they can stick it. The Johnzarotti is the best Panzarott ianywhere hands down. It can be addictive however. Everything else, pizza, wings, steaks etc are always good. John's Sicicilan is a masterpiece. There is a reason why John's is always busier than any other pizza place in the area great food. One of the things I like best about John's is they don't rush your order. They wait until it is fully cooked. I've been to other pizza places that pull it out of the oven as soon as you get their whether it is ready or not figuring you are in a hurry. I ram confident ecommending Johns because in 30 years I have never had a bad pizza. Some reviewers have taken stars off because they say they do not smooze enough. I disagree, they are polite and friendly to me everytime I order anything. I have to give them 5 stars for their food and consistency. read more

I can't believe this place doesn't have any reviews, although I am tickled to be the first! Maybe the issue is that the address say Gloucester City, while I'm pretty sure this is actually Brooklawn? I have been going to this place since I was a kid. I have only ever eaten one thing from John's, their panzerotti. It is FANTASTIC! Any other panzarotti I've had has been weighed down with too much oil and thick breading. John's crust is as thin as a potato chip and as crispy too. Although, you do need to eat them hot out of the deep fryer to enjoy that crispiness, otherwise, they can get soggy. Truth be told, they are almost as delicious a touch soggy as well. The only negative is the guys that work here are a little lecherous...but, whatever, that panzarotti is worth being leered at for a little bit. read more
