I had a cracked molar that got really infected and I was in some of the worst pain I've felt in a long time. I was honestly stressing bad, but they got me in on a Sunday. Dr. Shi and his assistant Jamie were both amazing. They were calm, reassuring, and made me feel like I was in good hands right away. Dr. Shi clearly knows what he's doing. He's a no nonsense type of guy, but he explained everything in a way that made me feel a lot better, worked quickly, and took care of the extraction and infected tissue. The whole process took about 45 minutes, and the price was very fair too. Considering how much pain I was in and how nervous I was, I honestly could not have asked for a better experience in a situation like that. Super grateful to both of them. read more

I just had my six month cleaning this past Sunday and while I was a little nervous going to the dentist during this pandemic, it couldn't have gone smoother. The dentists and hygienists were all wearing multiple layers of protection, including gloves, several masks for safety and redundancy and also a face shield. Since I am primarily working from home now and rarely if ever go into the city, coming here is quite the trek (hence why I prefer Sunday appointments). Despite the distance, I still go to them because in my experience, they are as good as it gets. I've said it before and I'll say it again, Registered Dental Hygienist Diana Ji is top-notch! I didn't feel an ounce of pain during my last cleaning, not even within the sensitive gum line that I usually feel. Talking with her in-between rinses and such is like talking to an old friend. I have been going to Dr. S for years (at least 3 root canals, 8 extractions, and other hard evidence of a youth spent on too much candy and not enough toothbrushes) The guy is always straight-up with me on what the treatment entails, what are the benefits, and what can I expect out of the entire process, from treatment to recovery. He took the time to introduce his gadgets, and explains how they work - for a geek like me, that's a definite plus. He's pretty proud of the toys, and he's got the skills to use them. I have the pain tolerance of a hypersensitive toddler. The guy is pretty careful - he doesn't exactly jam the instruments in you all at once, and he's always checking to see whether anything is bothering you. I mean, hey, I am paying for it, I should make sure it's painless, right? Right - and he's alright by me. That being said, there's only so much that novocaine can do, so if you got an existing condition, deal with it now before it turns really ugly. Dr. S told me some horror stories... I should also point that although his services are not cheap, it is worth every painless penny. When it comes to certain things in life like a good night of sleep without toothaches, a little outlay goes a long way...hell, I wish I listened to him earlier in life - it would probably save more of my rotted, dearly departed pearly whites. I am no fan of dentists but I drive almost two hours from upstate NY to go to Dr. Shi. He's that good IMO. I met Dr. Shi through a mutual friend/patient when I had a crown come off. Dr. Shi hooked me up and I have been going to him ever since. D. Shi is also caring for my brother who is in the process of getting dental implants. Although we are moving to Texas shortly we will be flying back and forth as we finish the treatment plan. This place is unbelievable. I found this place online because it has great reviews. Went on their website to make an appointment for an urgent dental problem that came up. So I gave them all my insurance information when I was filling out the forms and it claims they accept my insurance. Within minutes they confirm my appointment to come in on the next day in the late afternoon. But on the day of the appointment, the front desk ask for my insurance and said they don't accept it. So why did you confirm my request and told me to come in late afternoon when you don't even accept my insurance in the first place. Dr. Shi very professional gave a smile and he did not bad mouth my previous dentist. Dr. Shi was prompt. Dr. Shi also gave a thorough consultation and asks for you to get a 3 D. I recommended those who are really looking for long term good teeth take those 3 d it is bit pricey but it is worth it if you want Dr. Shi to see the whole picture. I first saw Dr. Shi two years ago about my molar that's been bothering me. I remembered he told me that I needed an extraction since there was pretty significant gum loss. All I heard was dollar signs and a lot of pain, and because I wasn't in much pain at the time I thought he was just blowing smoke. Being a healthy skeptic (or super paranoid and untrusting of any and all doctors), I passed on all his advice and warning, and went along my merry way. Fast forward to present day, many sleepless nights of tooth pain, and 4 "second opinions" later, I was left with a massive infection that dissolved much of my bone under that molar. I was now at a point where I'm begging to have this damn tooth yanked out of my mouth and left with a lot of regret for not listening to Dr. Shi years earlier. So, I came back. He knows what he's talking about, he knows what he's doing, he explains the situation clearly and leat you decide what you'd like to do at the end of explaining your options. Everything was cleared with me before he did anything, his office is super clean, everyone there was helpful and sweet. The lady at the front desk was nice despite 86 phone calls from my mother during my visit. (She worries.) And most importantly, as far as getting an extraction and cleaning out a crazy infection and getting stitched up goes, my experience here was as good as it's ever going to get. I dare not say it's painless but I can't imagine it going any smoother than it did. The extraction took maybe 15 minutes, he took note of all my little flinches and asked if I was doing okay, it really didn't hurt nearly as much as I expected, and 4 days later, my stitched up gums feel pretty much healed, the bleeding was minimal and I'm glad Dr. Shi is the one that'll be handling my bone graft, implant, and crown. I feel like I'm in really good hands. Super highly recommended, people need to know that they don't need to avoid, hate and/or fear the dentist, like I used to.
