Do not buy a vehicle from this dealership. I purchased a one owner truck from them, sent a wire within 2 hours and the deal was contingent upon receiving on Friday. The truck was not delivered, after giving the "salesman" Nathan multiple chances to correct so i would not miss a very important meeting his response was "I tried, it was out of my control". They made no effort to correct and when i asked to wire my funds back, took several hours to get a response: "a check is in the mail". Now I have no truck, am out $71,000 and have yet to receive a phone call of any kind only text messages. Several reviews say they don't care about customer service and they are absolutely correct. I came in and talked to Shane the used sales department and let him know my experience with other had dealt and I was honestly scared to go through this process. The service department is one of the worst I've ever dealt with in my very long and eventful life. I purchased my last 2 GMC 2500 HD diesel trucks from them and that experience was good enough for me to try utilizing their service department. That has proven to be an exercise in futility and frustration. To say they suck would be a compliment. I have visited the service department on 3 separate occasions and each time the service requested was either not completed as requested or not done at all. I found their service writer staff to be less than helpful, seeming to always be in a rushed and less than friendly state. Save yourself the frustration, waste of time and expense, and futility of having to have to get some else to complete the work correctly. I will never purchase another vehicle from this dealership or utilize their service department for any of my vehicles. Suggestions for improvements: 1- have the service staff take a basic lesson in customer care. I ran my own very successful business for decades and if my employees had the same shitty attitude as these, I would have terminated their employment. Customer service seems to be out of fashion these days. 2- Don't jerk your customers around! One of the most insulting things you can do in a customer oriented business is jerk your customers around. This dealership seems to run on the "Their another customer waiting right behind this one so screw em!" This can be addressed with customer service training....suggestion 1 above. 3- complete the service requested by the customer or service form them up front of why you are refusing to do the work. On one visit I requested an oil change and to replace my fuel filter. It's a habit I have followed on all by diesel trucks as a preventative maintenance routine. I specifically request the filter be change 3 times to the service writer. When I came to pick up the truck, she informed the technician didn't think the filter needed changed so he did not change it as requested. So, I had to wait while they took the vehicle back and supposedly changed the filter as originally requested. I know nothing will be done and they will continue to treat customers as if they are doing them a favor for even taking your vehicle into their service bay. Bottom line, they suck at customer service, they do not complete the work requested, and they will waste your time, money, and efforts while not batting an eye. I strongly recommend a small family owned mechanic that will treat you fairly and with respect. Hope this helps anyone out there tinking of using this service center. read more

Before I talk about my experience with John Thornton Buick GMC yesterday, I need to take you back 6 weeks. My wife and I were looking for a vehicle that would comfortably seat our family of five including two tall teenage boys. We narrowed or search to GMC Yukon XL, Chevy Suburban XL or Ford Explorer MAX. After looking at several, we found a Yukon XL at John Thornton Buick GMC in Carrollton. I called to make an appointment for July 8th. When we arrived, no one knew about the appointment. We finally were helped by Jon Day. He helped us look at the vehicle and arranged for a test drive. During the test drive, the transmission did not feel quite right, but Mr. Day assured us that the vehicle had been thoroughly inspected by their service department. We felt like the price was a little high, so Mr. Day called in his used car sales manager, Glenn Pierce. Mr. Pierce dropped the price a little and we agreed to the purchase. Because the transmission did not feel quite right, we asked for an extended warranty. We met with the Finance manager, Joanna Thigpen, and communicated that we were looking to purchase an extended warranty. Mrs. Thigpen insisted that it was not worth buying the extended warranty. Based on this, we reluctantly signed the warranty opt-out. It was a little strange to sign the opt-out when we were the ones pushing for a warranty. Normally, car dealerships put a hard sell on extended warranties, but not in this case. We now know why. The first thing that happened was a failed TPMS sensor within a day of the purchase. I contacted Mr. Day via email but never received a response. We also started noticing the transmission was getting worse. I called to schedule a diagnostic check, but in the meantime, my father fell ill. I had to cancel the appointment as my father was placed in hospice and then passed away. I finally was able to reschedule the diagnostic check for yesterday at 9:30. Since we live about 45 minutes away, I decided to work from the customer lounge. Four hours later the diagnostic was completed. I was informed that the transmission needed to be replaced along with the motor mounts and 2 TPMS sensors. Since I only recently purchased the vehicle, I was instructed to speak to Mr. Day to see what the used car department could do to cover the cost. I spoke to Mr. Day, who produced the warranty opt-out to show that I had declined the warranty that they "offered" and that there was not anything they could do. I asked to speak to Mr. Pierce. Mr. Pierce also stated that I had declined the warranty but he "would do me a favor" by having the repairs done "at cost" and throw in $1,500 toward the cost of the repairs. With all of that, the repair estimate was still more than $6,000. After several hours of back and forth with Mr. Pierce, it became obvious that the dealership was not going to make this right. So, we decided to post a 1-star review. Mr. Pierce immediately confronted me about the review. I explained that he knowingly sold me a damaged vehicle and asked to speak to the General Manager, Zach Robinson. While walking across the parking lot to speak to Mr. Robinson, I continued to express my dissatisfaction with how we were treated. Mr. Pierce told me to wait outside in the heat. I waited about 2 minutes and then walked inside. Mr. Robinson was with another customer and shut his office door. While I waited, I had a conversation with a nice older couple that were there to purchase a vehicle. I explained how we had been treated and suggested that they have an independent mechanic check out any vehicle they were considering purchasing. Mr. Robinson immediately came out of his office, was very irate, and told me to leave. While Mr. Robinson was walking with me to get my vehicle from the service department, Mr. Pierce called 911. Teh service department conveniently could not find my key fob until the police showed up. As soon as they brought the vehicle, I left. I write all of this to express that I will never buy anything from any John Thornton dealership again. If you search you will find many stories just like this one. read more

Had the best experience trading in my Buick Encore for a new Encore GX. I drove from Tennessee to here, since they had the best deal when I was searching around. My salesman/the manager, AJ Cooley, was a no-pressure kind of guy and was just awesome. He was happy to hold the vehicle for me, since I had a 4 hour drive. We went through the whole credit application and trade-in process over the phone, so by the time I got there, all I had to do was test drive and sign the papers. The finance manager did not pressure me for any add-ons or extended warranties. He was very straightforward and honest, and for the vehicle I had and my driving style, he did not recommend me to sign up for anything additional. Rude lying salesmen! AVOID AT ALL COSTS. 3 hour drive time that was a waste of a day. Terrible Sales person named Joel Beam who was clueless about everything and he was very sensitive I guess you could say? We called ahead to check out a car that we were told was negotiable on pricing over the phone. We get there and they pull some sales tactic where they say, "Oh someone else is supposed to come get this tomorrow morning at 8am so it may not be here. They needed to go get a check and will return tomorrow." What a liar! If you have to lie to sell something, you probably aren't good at sales and should do something else. To top that off, I asked about bringing the price down from $49k to $47k, which as everyone knows that any dealership does the whole back and forth negotiation. Joel said no, they wont negotiate and that the person we spoke to was from another department and they dont know her so they wont honor it. We asked why we could not negotiate since its a dealership and sensitive little Joel had the nerve to say "Is that some sort of right of passage or something!?" We were just asking questions like at any other dealership and this guy was a total liar and arrogant for no good reason. If they hired someone like this, the perception is that they don't care how people are treated. They will let them lie and be rude to whoever as long as it makes them money. People like this hurt your dealership as they are the face and experience of visitors. read more

multi purchase customer bought a brand new 2025 Cadillac first and then their used car sales manager Glen totally dropped the ball on second car that day for my daughter when he put a deal on paper that was essentially trying to steal my daughters trade which was a 2019 Acadia that we bought from them. then they lowered the price and didnt bother to tell us which we could have worked with and sold it to someone else. totally unprofessional. taking my business and my service elsewhere. sorry but cannot recommend any longer. Applied for the pre approval on line at John Thornton GMC and was approved for financing. Also had my own bank financing in place and approved as backup trying to get the best rate. After going through the application process with the sales person I had 5 inquiries added to my credit report. Dealership then told me that their bank was not going to approve me after all. I spoke with my bank and told the dealership I would be able to close the deal next business day on Monday. Did not get a response until I reached out to another representative at the dealership. I would have given 5 STARS except when we went to the financial department, I explaned we had are own financing through our banking institute. But the financial person helping us was pushing an auto lender called " Cinch Auto Finance ". unfortunately we went with Cinch Auto Finance for our aout loan. By far the worst company I've ever worked with. I called my financial institute and explaned my dilemma with Cinch Auto Finance. Thankfully I was able refinance with my banking institute and I also got a much lower interest rate as well. Not sure why the financial department at John Thornton pushed Cinch Auto Finance on us. The sad part is that I put my trust in this person that she was trying to help us make the best financial decision for our auto loan, but rest assured I will not ever make that mistake again. Made appointment for warranty work for 2021 CT5. Kept getting notifications from OnStar that my battery was low. Made the mistake of attempting to use local Cadillac Dealer. Cadillac guarantees loaner vehicle according to MY Cadillac App for all warranty work. Guess what? None available. This pitiful dealership had only 3 loaner cars available. So I guess if you happen to be one of 3 cadillac owners in the West Georgia area (which includes Douglas County, Carroll County, Haralson County, and Coweta County) you may get a loaner. Also attempted to have oil change and tires rotated but a no go there too. Was going to take several hours to complete. But when making appointment they did make it a point to ask if I purchased the vehicle at their dealership!!!! What the hell does it matter if it is warranty work? Doesn't Cadillac stand behind their service commitment to its customers? Boy I would truly love to hear back from CEO of General Motors to give him/her a piece of my mind!!!!! read more

We just purchased a new 2017 Escalade. Tim Fordham is your "go to" Sales Professional at Walker. He is backed up by Mark the General Manager and they both go out of their way to make the car buying experience...pleasant. Tim knows his vehicles and he knows what people want to try before they buy. There was never any pressure yet he was always available to answer a question or demonstrate a feature. This dealership is not one of those stuffy places where the managers and others sit in their office and look out at the customers. They were out and about. Essentially, I wanted to be paid the "average" Kelly Blue Book for my 2500HD Duramax (with a very low miles), one owner, no wrecks, good condition (which is arguably "excellent" condition), clean title trade-in and was willing to pay "sticker" (including the dreaded added $950.00 "destination" charge) for a new vehicle... WARNING: this dealership will "low ball" you on your trade and not negotiate on their sticker price! The behavior is indicative of a potential ethical issue and/or lack of financial stability... Consumers beware!!! If you want a "fair deal" (value for value for trade and new vehicle price), you might consider another dealership... in the past, I have had positive experiences at Hardy in Dallas, Ga. (Chevy/GMC & Ford), Carl Black in Kennesaw, Ga., Bill Heard, Kennesaw, Ga., Days in Acworth, Ga... Also, if you are interested in a Ram, James O'Neal in Bremen, Ga. is a fair place to do business too...
