The best bar in Florida. FL is full of old locals-only bars that each have a unique and endearing character. Johnathan's has always been far and away the best. We've been dropping in since this place opened in 1970. Riding our bikes before we could drive to bring fresh trout we just caught in the canals off Minuteman and trading with Mr J for a cold beer. The dark layout's perfect for sitting around & chatting. The cold AC has always been a huge draw. Ice cold beer + fresh-squeezed OJ for the occasional screwdriver. Quarter pool + darts. The "world's worst sandwiches" served on surprisingly fresh bread and piled high with meat. And always great RnR on the juke. Going home to CB the past 45 years means seafood appetizers at the Surf, then later Rusty's up at the Port followed by a few cold beers & a sammie at Johnathan's. We've been going here since forever - way back to when we were underage teens. It didn't hurt that everyone knew everyone. And shooting pool for a rival bar in those weeknight bar leagues back in HS meant we were familiar enough to everyone no id was required. Love this place. A little hole in the wall with the best French dip sandwiches in Florida. The fresh squeezed screwdrivers are my go to drink and I don't like vodka. This place is an old school dive bar feel that's dark and cozy. The staff and patrons are friendly and are almost all locals. A local favorite and I've had some good times and met some good people there. They only have a few beers on tap, but Intracoastal is the way to go. Live music all the time and a great local crowd makes for a good vibe. They have darts and pool tables as well. Parking in their lot is kind of a nuisance due to the layout, so I prefer the street parking. It's also a quick walk to the rest of the bars in the area and this one is always open late, so it's a good place to end the night. read more

Came with a pickle spear. 4.5 stars - Italian: my friend enjoyed hers. 4 stars - Service: was greeted warmly when we arrived and they checked on us regularly throughout the visit. - Large space: big bar in the middle, pool tables on the side, and a large outdoor area - Lots of TVs: good for sports watching - Kids til 7pm if you want to bring them to enjoy a sandwich, hot dog, or pizza. This place is a bit off the beaten path not being on A1A like most things at Cocoa Beach. The facility looks like it has been here roughly forever. This place is a dive bar with some extra features. Dive bar inside but they have fresh juices for your drinks and they serve good sandwiches on the menu. The star of the sandwich show is the French dip. Served on a toasted bun with au jus to dip in. They recently added an outside patio area which is a nice place to sit and enjoy the bands when they have them. read more

Dive bar with cheap drinks and outside seating. This place was recommended to us by a bartender at a local establishment so we decided to check it out. The inside is dark with no windows and outside they had a live band and some tables set up. Looked like they may set up cornhole or horseshoes in the outside yard but nothing was set up the day we stopped in. read more

My parents favorite spot (locals), big fans of the French dip. I had a ham sandwich for the first time (usually only grabbing drinks) and it was amazing. Big stacked and full of flavor. I've been going to Johnathan's for over 30 years, first during spring break but mostly as a CB resident. About 15 of us play golf at Cocoa Beach GC on Fridays then settle up at Johnathan's, have a couple beers and a great sandwich. Great place for fun and drinks on a Fri or Sat. The bartenders James and Karen are two cool cats. They have live bands here and play good music. The bathrooms can be kept better but aren't gross. They recently installed a nice side porch for smokers and people who just like to enjoy their drinks out side. Ok. First off this local bar has been there forever. Hole in the wall,dive type local. Smoking is allowed in the bar! If that turns you off dont go. My wife and I don't smoke BUT whenever we visit cocoa beach we stop there. It is safe, has pool tables, darts ,TVs. The sandwiches they make are the best anywhere. Limit sandwich menu but trust they are loaded. They squeeze fresh grapefruit juice into there drinks. My wife had a southern comfort and grapefruit. She had the roast beef and I had a hot pastrami. Excellent. Dont be fooled ed by the looks of the place. read more
