This place hooked up my car to their truck after my hit and run and just drove off with it to their tow yard. They DIDN'T even ask me if I wanted it to go there. This was a Sunday, so it was going to be $600 dollars to get out. This was not what their pricing list reflects on their wall. AND they STOLE my valuables out of my vehicle and when called on it denied it and said they don't go in the vehicle, even tho they did...TWO times. Don't use this place at all. They towed my truck after a AAA call. I arrived at the repair shop after making 2 stops expecting to see the car they towed. At the 45 minute mark (for a 5 mile trip) I called for information as to my car's whereabouts. They refused to provide me any information. read more

Before arriving, read all of the information provided through AAA. When arriving, just perform the requested service, i.e., tow to a specific service station. Don't assume you know what is the problem when the owner has already told you and all you need to do is what was requested, e.g., tow the car from here to there. Don't present the owner with a blank signature screen on your phone with no preceding explanation (in writing) of what you are signing. This is how identities are stolen. When the owner is not willing to sign an unknown agreement, don't drive off without any further word. read more

I must say that I don't know if this is the case for all drivers/staff at Johnathan's, but I just had an absolutely exceptional interaction with their driver Baker. Please, allow me to paint you a picture of how the interaction went. I have dealt with a lot of tow drivers over the years for a variety of reasons, and usually get a vibe of "super shady", even on AAA tows/lockouts/etc. When I asked my friends if they knew what I meant by that, there was a unanimous "yes", so I'm imagining you might have the same frame of reference as you read this review. Suffice to say, my experience has set the bar for my expectations somewhere James Cameron couldn't find it (yes, that's a nod to South Park). When my VERY autistic roommate's and extended family member's car broke down 3/4ths of a mile from our house just before midnight (very late for both of us), AAA assigned a local company who ended up being unable to furnish a driver after an hour, so the call was reassigned to Johnathan's, who sent Baker. As the driver approached, I was preparing my roommate to allow me to handle the social interaction because of the aforementioned shadiness. Baker quickly did everything he could to prove me wrong. My roommate is photosensitive, so the bright flashing lights were immediately a problem. He stopped what he was doing and turned them off (it was quite safe for him to do so) after my roommate said "those lights are very bright", without needing to ask him directly. He continued to be courteous and professional throughout the interaction, and acted with a sense of urgency without sacrificing safety or quality. I showed him what was wrong with the car, and he went above and beyond to make sure the car got on and off the flatbed quickly, and without suffering further damage. He was extremely attentive, kind, and displayed a genuine care for both my roommate and me as fellow human beings, without any of the "I'd rather be anywhere else than helping you" attitude I've become so accustomed to in his industry. Baker earned a lot of praise and respect from my roommate, and from me, for how he carried himself, and for the kind of person he showed himself to be at his core throughout this interaction. The world needs more people like him in it, and Johnathan's would do well to make sure they never lose him as an employee as long as they can help it. 10 stars if I could! I have a classic Corvette and am no stranger to a tow. LIVEN showed up in a short period of time, which is often not the case, and was super friendly and personable. He took photos before, up on the flatbed, and after to ensure all of us were on the same page. He was very attentive and careful with my girl, which I hugely appreciated. He pointed out the fluid she was losing from the back end when we arrived home, which was also helpful for me. The biggest surprise was when I received a text message & photo of my bracelet that had apparently come off during our drive home. He wanted to make sure I got it back and arranged for me to come and get it within the same hour. He said it was his duty to get it back to me, which I'm sure it is, but as most of us know, just because it is doesn't mean people always do their duty or the right thing. You can fully expect that any thing that's even slightly a value in your car will be picked and taken at this tow yard. they took my life straw, they took $100 first aid kit, and they went through everything the console of the glove box they tore the truck apart, looking to see what was in it and then they take what they want and you can't do anything about it because there's a sign that says not responsible for lost or stolen items. So basically it's a license to steal if you have a truck or car towed here make sure you have somebody come and clean the car out before they get to it. It's so petty and disgusting. Alan arrived with portable jumper box that was not charged... he was unable to jump start me and even had the audacity to ask if I had jumper cables?! Are you kidding me, is this a joke! Definitely not a joke because my 3 year old daughter is now freezing in the cold while AAA send out another provider. Also he refused to replace the battery under warranty because that had no record.... AAA maintains record of all battery purchased through them. Beware of these scammers. read more

Called AAA at 730, they dispatched Jonathan's towing and said they would be at my house at 838. At 852 I called AAA because Jonathan's had not called. AAA stated the tow truck was running late, but I should have gotten a call from the driver. The driver never called and never showed up. An hour later than dispatched and still no truck here. Thanks to Jonathan's, I missed my appointment to have my truck worked on. Don't trust them to pick up your car, request a different tow if they tell you Jonathan's is coming. read more

A few months back my car battery died. They replaced the car battery which is supposed to last 3-5 years and it's already dead. They told me to drive the car at least 20 minutes a day to keep the battery charged which I had been doing and the battery was perfectly fine yesterday. Yikes!! Whoever they have working tonight 2/14/25 at 8pm for Jonathan's Towing should get fired!! Headed home from Escondido to Valley Center, the driver of the tow truck was speeding, multiple lane changes without signal, ran the red light at lake wohlford road. Tailgating and flashing his brights at other vehicles. I understand they have emergency's to attend to but if that's the case they should have their emergency lights on and still drive safely. read more

They are a AAA towing company. I bought a AAA battery from them, and instead of giving me a new one, the tech gave me an old one, which leaked and died within four weeks. Since it was free through AAA, I wasn't impacted financially. When it died, i had to call AAA, and wait in the cold weather. If you get a battery, double check! read more

They are a ripoff! My Vechicle was towed to their junk yard due to an accident. I called them less than an hour later to have my car towed to mechanic and was told they don't have any drivers at the time. So the next day they changed me $495 for less than 3 mile tow and $120 for Juneteenth. Employees were rude and belligerent. They drove a different car out (my car was not drivable). Called AAA for battery service after hours (between 6 am and 8 pm I believe). Johnathan's came out anyway to jump start and check battery levels. Reported that battery was still usable but might require further jumps. No pressure to buy new battery. Didn't want my wife to have to deal with any future problems so requested new battery for next morning. (Old AAA battery was 3 years 7 months old.) Henry from Johnathan's came out to replace battery. Issue came up with old battery warranty promising a further 3 years discount, which AAA doesn't offer anymore. Can't say what happened behind the scenes, but Henry successfully advocated for the resulting completely satisfactory deal. Highly recommended. read more

Worst customer service, unprofessional and rude. My sons car was towed over the weekend, their website states they are open 24 hours but does not state it's for towing only or that they are closed on weekends, this is very misleading. When we went to pick up the car on Monday the gentleman who helped us refused to provide his name, my son asked him if his name was on the paperwork he provided us and his response was "why would it be", we then asked the gentleman who brought out the car and he also refused to provide us his name. He said that if he didn't provide it to us then he could not give it to us either. i don't need name to leave a review just company name. I work in customer service and this is a negative experience and I would NEVER use their services or recommend them. Not a good way to run a business. I locked my keys in my car around 5:50 pm. Made a call to triple AAA the referred me to Jonathan's towing. I drive a 2000 Jeep Sahara. Which the way my windows are built and a sun protector on the top of my side windows made it hard to get the Jeep unlocked. The first service guy the came out was a young man very respectful and did try to unlock it. But couldn't. However, he did recommend what to do. Which was to call triple AAA and ask for a locksmith. So I did just that. No locksmith for the night. The next thing was to have my car towed to my house and forgot wit out In the morning. Waited for a tow from Jonathan's towing it took maybe thirty minutes to show up and this by this time it was 7:30 ish. The tow man that helped me was named MO, a very eager to help and find a solution kinda of person before towing my Jeep. Which o wasn't expecting. He tried many attempts to try and u lick my door and was really hopefully ge could unlock it. Whic finally around 8:20 he OPENS it! He tried so many different way the way it worked was rolling down the window. Locked ourselves out of the car at the grocery store. We had a bag of burgers to grill for company that was already at our house, so we were desperately hoping to get roadside assistance quickly. We were assigned to Johnathon's Towing, and they were there within 15 minutes. Extremely polite and they worked quickly. Dinner was saved and our guests barely realized we took a few minutes longer at the store. We now know that every time AAA hands us over to Johnathon's towing that we're going to get excellent service and quickly. We still highly recommend them! read more

This was the best and worst experience ever. The worst -- because my car broke down on the 78, with hardly any shoulder of the road. Cars were rushing inches from my broken down vehicle at 75 mph. It was the best -- because Triple AAA sent out Johnathan's Towing -- and the driver/tow operator AYAD was the best. He was very helpful in so many ways, and I felt petrified watching as he was working on putting my car on his truck bed a mere inches from people on the freeway that wouldn't change lanes to give him more room. It's an old classic car that I spent a lot of money restoring, and I was so worried about it being damaged. He did an incredible job. I can't recommend this company or Ayad enough. read more

My card had died and I called tripe A for their towing service: they sent Johnathon's towing. At first the man could not find me and was getting annoyed with me over the phone. When he arrived he towed my vehicle removed the hub caps like you do and removed the plastic cover under the car that covers the hook. He left the plastic cover on the ground and told me to not worry about it. I picked it up and took it with me because why would I not?? Then he towed it to the shop dropped it off and didn't put the hubcaps back on. He told me please give me a 5 star review! I've called to complain multiple times that someone needs to come back to put the hubcaps back on and they will not respond. Please don't use them unless you like to be unconvinced. read more

On Monday, July 1, 2024 I made phone calls to several local towing companies to get an estimate to how much they would charge to move two 20ft cargo containers from one site in Escondido to another about 3 miles away. In all cases, I advised them that it needed to be done on a "flat bed truck" and that the containers were loaded. Johnathans Towing was one of the companies I called. I spoke to "Vince" there and it sounded like I was talking to the owner. He initially quoted $275 per hour, but after I told him I was trying to keep the cost around $400, he offered to lower the cost to $250 per hour because of how close everything was to his office and also said that maybe it might only take less than 2 hours thereby bringing it closer to my budgeted target of $400. On Wednesday, July 3, 2024, I called Johnathans Towing and left a message for Vince that I wanted to schedule the move for Friday morning at 9 A.M. in the hope that there would be less traffic due to the holiday the previous day. On Friday, July 5, 2024, I met the driver for Johnathans Towing at the pickup site. After he looked at what he had to do and after I gave him the address for where the containers had to be dropped off, he said that the charge was going to be $250 per hour with a minimum of 2 hours. I reluctantly agreed to this new "minimum" because I had no choice since we were all there, including a helper that I had hired in case I needed him to do something. Once I verbally agreed to this new rate, he lined up his truck but then before attempting to hitch up to the container, he said he needed to have another tow truck come to slide the container forward so he could hook up. What showed up was a regular small tow truck that you normally see towing small passenger cars. Working together they got the first cargo container on the flat bed tow truck which I had requested. It took about 15 minutes to do this, and then headed to the drop off location which was at my house, less than 3 miles away. Once he arrived at my home and backed up to where the container was to be unloaded, he approached me and informed me that the price had changed. His reason was because the container was very heavy and that he had to have another truck come. He increased the cost from $250 per hour to $1,750. When I objected and wanted to stay with the original agreement, he offered to lower the cost to $1500. Please keep in mind that at this point he was in full possession of my container with its contents, a value in excess of $25,000. If I refused to pay what he was demanding, he would have driven off and taken my property. He also said that the money had to be paid before he would unload the container. Under extreme duress, I gave him the credit card and signed his receipt BEFORE he had performed his services and unloaded the container. Unloading the first container was uneventful and he then went back to pickup the second container. I followed him there and the pickup went much faster. He then dropped off the 2nd container and left my property at 11:40 A.M.. Please keep in mind that the total elapsed time of 2 hours and 40 minutes included about 20 minutes of wasted time, where we argued about the increased price. The 2nd tow truck which he had come at the beginning was only used for about 15 minutes at the very beginning, but that driver did nothing for the rest of the time except to follow the original driver as he went back and forth. The second tow truck was not used for helping to unload either container or to load the 2nd container. It was just there to keep the original driver company. There was a previously agreed price of $250 per hour which he then changed to "a minimum of 2 hours". But it was not until after he had taken possession of my property that he changed the price to $1750, a 350% increase and threatened seizure of my property if I didn't pay him in advance. My property was going to be held hostage unless I paid the ransom. As to why he may have done this, it would be conjecture, but it might have been because I am a 75 year old senior citizen with a mobility problem and he saw an old man with a cane having the container being taken to a very substantial house with expensive cars parked in the driveway and figured the money was there for him to take advantage of. For your information, I have already filed a complaint regarding this with Jose Gaytan, Code Compliance Officer for the City of Escondido. I am also asking him to direct my complaint to the City of Escondido that regulates towing companies operating within the City of Escondido. Just refunding my money is not sufficient. This company is victimizing the citizens of this community and at a minimum they need to be put out of business and possibly in jail. read more

For a few days my car engine had been hesitating a little when I was starting it up. Then I came out of the gym to find it would not start. I wasn't sure if maybe it might be my key fob battery or some other problem which might require a tow. I called AAA and soon after my call, Henry arrived from Jonathan's Towing. He found my car in the crowded parking lot. He had his meter ready and determined my key fob was fine and my battery was not. He offered me the option of replacing the battery, which I accepted. He quickly and efficiently replaced my old battery with a new premium AAA battery with a 3 year statewide warranty, before it got dark. It was so nice to have it taken care of and not have to worry about whether my car would start the next time, or trying to get it somewhere the next day for a new battery.
