He was very prompt, courteous and professional. He expedited the tow very quickly in a heavy traffic apartment complex so to not inconvenience my neighbors. Great problem solving skills as my car was in a a low clearance garage, yet he still found a way to get my car in his truck. We had a great conversation on the way to the dealership. Absolutely unbelievable experience with Roadway Towing & Recovery. I was left stranded for nearly TWO HOURS through my roadside assistance program waiting for a tow truck that never came. After being repeatedly told help was on the way and that arrival would only be a few more minutes, they suddenly canceled the job after I had already waited 1 hour and 45 minutes. When I called, the first employee admitted they were "backed up." I asked the obvious question -- why wasn't I notified an hour earlier instead of being left sitting there wasting my entire afternoon? He said my manager made the decision to cancel you, would you like to speak to her"She kept me waiting on hold for quite sometime probably hoping I would hang up. That conversation was even worse! She talked over me, lacked all basic customer service skills and told me they "never took the tow job". Obviously this was a lie since my insurance company confirmed this business two hours earlier. She told me they were too busy and it would actually be another 2-3 hours. So instead of declining the call honestly from the beginning, they left a stranded customer sitting and waiting with no communication whatsoever. When I tried explaining how unacceptable and irresponsible that was, she actually LAUGHED, sarcastically told me to "have a nice day," and HUNG UP on me. I would give ZERO stars if I could!!! USAA - please take note to NEVER use this company ever again for roadside assistance. Had a tire blow out on me on the freeway at 12 pm - used the USAA app to request a tow, which was super easy. It asked for my location (which was auto-identified via GPS) and confirmed that I was stranded on the freeway. I got a text saying that the ETA would be 2 hours (2 pm). Thank God I decided to ask my husband to pick me up first otherwise I would've been stranded there for longer. Once my husband picked me up 1.5 hours into the wait, I called the tow company to ask for an updated ETA or if they could tow without me present. Answer was "not sure the ETA, the driver should call you" and they couldn't tow without the key. Fine - we ended up driving back to the car to leave the key in there for them and then went back home. Meanwhile it's already 3:45 pm, and I'm super exhausted from the whole ordeal and decide to take a quick nap...I jolted myself awake after a while and noticed I had some missed calls from 10 minutes prior (4:05 pm). I realized it was the tow company so I immediately gave them a call back. Apparently they couldn't find my car because the address was "incorrect" and they cancelled the tow. Well did you bother reading the notes that the car was on the freeway?! Obviously you don't look in a residential area if that's what was provided! There wasn't even any residential areas near that area of the freeway! Sure I missed the call, but really? I had asked this morning about the fee of $750 an hour which Edwin quoted this morning, I said that was to be for the 3 hour total. He said I didn't remember properly, stating it was $750 per hour plus travel time. These guys also demanded my CC card ahead of time, which now explains why. Scammed out of almost $300!!! This company was dispatched from my roadside service company. After a quick assessment the representative said my battery is done and needs to be replaced. I asked him if there were any other options. His response was the battery was completely drained and there was nothing he could do. Already being stranded I went ahead with the replacement. After calling my dealership they informed me that the roadside service should NEVER have charged me because my vehicle is under warranty. They also said that he should have given me the old battery and I could have turned it in for the warranty. Also NEVER mentioned. I called Starlink around 7pm ish gave them my info and gave them permission for the towing company to text me. I had pulled over into a shopping center by now. On 4/20/20 I scheduled with my insurance to have my vehicle towed to my local dealership the very next day at 7:00 am. The towing company called me the night of 4/20/20 and I confirmed my appointment. The very next morning I received a phone call at 6:30 am stating that the tow truck was outside, which was 30 minutes early but no worries. I informed the driver Jerrell what entrance to wait for me as I was getting dressed because I had just woken up. In the midst of getting ready to head down to the entrance, the driver called me three times and then had the dispatcher call me again asking me why was I not answering and he was waiting downstairs, all within the span of 5 minutes. I explained again that I was getting ready and I was on my way to meet him. I called the driver to clarify and as he answered the call, he sighed and huffed at my statement that I was heading towards him. As I opened the gate for him to come in and get my vehicle he had a rude demeanor. I told him I'd meet him at the drop off site. Upon arriving to my tow location Jerrell released my vehicle from the bed of the tow truck and threw my keys at me from a distance of 15 feet and departed. I understand that everyone has bad days but I felt his attitude was unjustified and disrespectful and throwing my keys was extremely unprofessional. If I could I would give this place zero stars. First they had an ETA of 58 minutes to tell a vehicle that was scheduled for 10 AM. Then I got a message at 12 PM that they're running late and I'll be another 28 to 40 minutes of wait time. At 12:31 I have a voice message that the toe guy is on station at 12:40 the tow is canceled because they said to talk I have been waiting there too long. I feel I find it difficult to understand how a company can be late but when you let them wait for 10 minutes they can cancel an order. Surely they're gonna charge the insurance company either way that's why they would do it. This is the worst time of customer service. I called there company and the staff is all joking and laughing in the background. In all honest opinion save your time. Anytime someone says "It's usually $60, but for you I'll do it for $30" after just meeting them, I know it's Not a trustworthy business. Evan A. was their employee that arrived and threw that line at me multiple times. He tested my battery and identified that it was bad. He then tells me he can sell a battery to me for $160.... But "for me" he'll do it for $140. I said is that the total, because I can buy a new battery at the automotive store for $80. He said "plus tax, and install".... the "install" was partially under his breath. When asked how much to install the battery Evan A. said...."I can show you the paperwork in my truck and it's usually $60.... but for you I can do it for $30" HA! He had me between a rock and a hard place and he knew it and was leveraging the situation. I did have something in my favor..... It was a very HOT day and was likely 90+ degrees in the parking lot with no breeze. He was sweating and wanted to get on with his day so that he could go take advantage of his next customer. Out of principle, I started looking on my phone for the nearest place that I could walk to to buy a battery or have my wife bring one to me for $80 vs the $170 he was trying to charge for the battery and install. After 10 minutes of me looking on my phone and making 2 calls, he comes over and says.... OK, I'll do it for $140. All of a sudden the install fee of what was originally $60... and then $30.... was waived completely. Horrible that a company would allow their employees to take advantage of people that are already in a compromised situation. Upon Googling the company today, I found an article from 2012 stating "one of the company's owners," Evan Khati, "was convicted of illegal immigrant smuggling in 2007, police Lt. My insurance company assigned Roadway Auto Towing to to tow my car with flat tire. Original ETA was 60 mins but ended up being 3 hours! Due to this delay, we ended up missing store hour for the dealership, costing $100 overnight storage fee (in which came out of my pocket). However, this is not why I am leaving one star review. Overall customer service was absolutely horrible. (Except for the driver who came to tow my car was kind and professional) I was talking to multiple representatives and they all seemed to have attitude. No explanations as to why they were late, no phone calls of status update, and representatives being extremely rude the entire time I called in for status check. PLEASE AVOID!
