I hired Kevin at Carlsbad Mobile Mechanic to diagnose an issue with my vehicle, at which point he advised and recommended a radiator replacement. Before approving the work, I specifically asked in writing whether the parts being used were Nissan OEM or aftermarket. I received a direct response stating: "These are OEM parts." Based on that written confirmation, I agreed to move forward with the repair and payment. After the work was completed, I began experiencing serious issues with my vehicle, including stalling to the point where it was no longer safely drivable. Due to these failures, I had to take my vehicle to Nissan for further inspection. During that inspection, it became clear that the radiator installed was not OEM. Nissan also confirmed that OEM radiators would not present the way this one did, including the absence of proper identification. In addition, the coolant/transmission lines had been modified using generic hoses and clamps--something that would not be necessary with an OEM radiator, which is designed to use factory quick-connect fittings. These findings directly contradict what was promised to me in writing prior to the repair. As a direct result of the improper parts and installation, my vehicle sustained significant damage totaling over $15,000 and became unreliable and unsafe to drive, requiring additional time, expense, and inconvenience to address. When I attempted to resolve the situation, I requested receipts and documentation showing where the parts were purchased. These were not provided. In California, automotive repair providers are required to provide documentation and itemization of parts upon request, including itemized invoices and parts information, yet Kevin failed to do so. Instead, I was told that I was a "nightmare" customer and that I was "giving him a headache." He also attempted to shift blame by suggesting the damage must have been caused by a collision or another shop, despite the timeline and circumstances clearly tied to his work. Since then, my attempts to follow up have been ignored. At no point was I informed of any substitution, nor was I given the opportunity to approve the use of non-OEM parts. The use of OEM components was a key factor in my decision to proceed. When a mechanic diagnoses a repair, recommends replacement, and explicitly confirms OEM parts in writing, there is a clear expectation that those terms will be honored. That did not happen here. I strongly recommend that anyone considering working with Kevin at Carlsbad Mobile Mechanic verify all parts being installed, request documentation, and thoroughly inspect the work before accepting completion. read more

I have always gone to the Toyota service for my Toyota Matrix after being dissatisfied with a couple of independent shops and their lack of reporting or keeping in touch during the course of the repair. Up till now felt confident in Toyota dealer handling my repairs. Recently, the last few times I found that there were things they wrote on my service ticket. They were not accurate or not needed so it gave me a second thoughts and felt like I should find another source to do my repair. I realize when you go to a dealer anywhere you don't actually know the mechanic working on your vehicle, so it's up for grabs who will be responsible in the reporting and the accuracy of the repair invoice. I was reading through the yelp reviews and thought it was worth a try to have a mobile mechanic with a good reputation, do a diagnosis and confirm it is an alternator that I needed. I was so pleased with Kevin that I wouldn't hesitate calling him again. I'd already researched with a dealer cost on the job as well as checking what the labor rate and part price should be. He was totally in line and reasonable and did it right here at my home because I felt unsafe driving in the car until it was fixed so would've had to tow it and sit around at a dealer or get a loaner and go through that entire process. KEVIN confirmed my suspicion that it was the alternator, he confirm the OEM part was available. He drove to get the part and came back in a short amount of time. My car is now running just as it should. This would've taken me at least a half a day sitting at a dealership or trying to manage to get home and back again. I just bought a 2021 Jeep Gladiator. The original owner did a Hemi swap. We went from a 3.6L V6 to a 6.4L V8. But they kept the stock radiator in it. So the Jeep would overheat at idle and the heater would blow cold at idle as well. I went to many different shops and none of them could figure it out. I called Kevin and he instantly told me I need to upgrade the radiator. So I ordered a new one and Kevin installed it and now the Jeep is fixed. I would highly recommend using Kevin.
