Came to this town to do some fishing. Stayed at the Travel Lodge next door. The place has a lot of space between tables. The staff was prompt and friendly. The menu was primarily American and Tex Mex. Everything was reasonably priced. They also have a 20% discount for veterans. Good work Johnny B. read more

We stopped at Johnny B's for lunch for the first time since covid. Many restaurants have had massive labor challenges and the service has gone to hell. This was not the case at Johnny B's the service was top notch. Our server named Kim was terrific! I had the green chili cheeseburger. Giant burger with excellent chili. The food was priced way too high for the quality of this cuisine. Johnny B's restaurant was the most expensive cheap meal that I could have ever had. My mother and I were disappointed in not only the cuisine but the treatment as well as the accessibility aspects from a wheelchair viewpoint. So a friend of mine is a vendor and goes to Tor C every Tuesday, we are from El Paso. So after finishing the days work, I tell my friend that we should try Johnny B's. After briefly looking at the menu, we were sold on the green chile patty melt, we asked to add bacon and the burgers rare. I also got a cup of soup on the side. The service was fast and attentive. The soup was packed with flavor, then shortly after we received our patty melts, cooked perfectly as requested. Definitely a spot to check out. read more

If my memory of T or C serves me right, Johnny B's replaced the K-Bob's steakhouse that closed down a year or two ago, so it's fairly new. I stopped by on a drive through T or C to grab some lunch recently. Johnny B's is aggressively baseball-themed, which is, well, a bit out of place, but I guess it kind of carries on the kitsch of K-Bob's in a way. The atmosphere is a bit off but the restaurant is well-kept. It just seems a little overdone in a cheap way. Our waitress was friendly and attentive, and I ordered a chicken bacon salad and my boyfriend burger. Both dishes were just okay. No specific complaints, but they also didn't particularly stand out. A distinct upside was the prices, which were actually quite low. Overall, I'd say Johnny B's is a middling restaurant. Not a bad place to grab a meal, but also not somewhere I'd make a point of going. Well, hey, that's better than what I thought about the K-Bob's. read more

Passing through stopped here after checking out reviews. We had roast beef sandwiches, tuna sandwich, sweet potatoes fries, and a combination plate. The sweet potato fries were really top notch, sandwiches were filled with delicious fillings, and the best dish was the combination plate. If you're looking for authentic corned beef & cabbage on St. Patrick's Day, look somewhere else... corned beef is NOT brisket, but rather thinly sliced deli meat, & barely enough to even make a sandwich. Cabbage is basically coleslaw without dressing... steamed & flavorless, just like the bland potatoes & carrots. For $15 (+ tax & tip), you're better off buying your own brisket & cooking at home. read more

Food was delicious! Service was fast and very friendly. Those were the best chile rellenos I have had in a long time! They were crispy and filled with gooey cheese. My husband had the cheese enchilada plate with green chile sauce. He said the tortillas were fresh and the green chile had great flavor. We even had dessert; chocolate cream pie and lemon pie. It was a tough choice between that and the ice cream parlor. We will definitely eat here again! Prices are very reasonable for the amount and quality of food. read more

Not sure how this place is 4-star. Definitely a better value than Denny's across the street, but the food isn't much better. I'm not sure any of it is homemade - they admit their chicken fried steak isn't, but said their biscuits and gravy are. I'm not convinced. I think they could do themselves a huge favor - and raise prices, if they used better quality ingredients and actually made food from scratch. There aren't many breakfast options in T or C so they could dominate the breakfast game with a few tweaks. Also, I've never felt COVID unsafe in a restaurant until this morning. They say they require masks, but not all the wait staff wore them properly, and several customers were allowed in without them. If they're observing 25% capacity requirements, they can get a hell of a lot of people in there under normal circumstances. No tables were blocked off, every table was full by the time we left and I didn't observe any special sanitation procedures. read more

A local place to eat with great hours and is affordable. I was surprised how tasty the fried fish (cod) plate was. They will accommodate you on any substitutions too. I had my first visit this week while on Business. The server was attentive and friendly. She recommended the Philly and it did not disappoint, the other guys with me also enjoyed their meals. What I really like about this place is it was made for the locals. What I mean by that is this, some of the restaurants in town have really catered to the tourism industry and as a result the prices are severely overpriced for the area and many locals told me as much. This restaurant is unassuming in looks but the food is marvelous! My husband had a French Dip sandwich where the bun was soft and fresh. The dip was very flavorful and the meat was tender and tasty. I had a chili relleno and a tamales. Both were so excellent! I highly recommend stopping by when going down I-25 and you come up to Truth or Consequences. We visited on a weekday evening after hearing that the chicken fried steak was hand breaded. The service was great, the steak was good, the cream gravy was a little bland though. The mashed potatoes were okay and it was hard to tell if they were instant or not. The vegetable must have been in the steamer a while but still tasty. The salad was nice. We were looking for place to eat dinner on New Year's Eve 2017. We called around town and only Johnny B's has an opening for our group, all others restaurants were booked up. When we arrived there was no waiting line, this should have been our first hint that something was wrong. The service was bad and the food was worse. We waited a very long time before a waitress came to take our drink orders. We waited a very long time to have those delivered. She then disappeared long enough that our drinks were empty before she came to take our food order. The drink glasses were sticky and now empty. When she finally took our order it took a very long time to get the food. Our group was 6 people and by the time #6 got there for the others were already done and drinks were all still empty. We ordered the French Dip which arrived cold. The fries were burnt as was the bread and it was also soggy on the bottom. The au jus was hot but had no flavor, it was basically brown water, but it did help soften the burnt bun. The last wait was to get our bill, which we had to ask for several times. Had they been busy, we could see some of these issues, but the restaurant was only half full. All in all not a good experience. We were hoping for good home cooked meals and it was anything but "Hometown Cooking." We will not be going back any time soon, even if they are the only place with an open table for six. read more
