I was a little taken aback when I walked in - the light is quite dim - odd for a wing/burger place. It looks rundown but I think that's the vibe they are aiming for. Unfortunately, it REALLY is a bit rundown. There is a menu above the counter to order from. Things are crossed out, stuff is written all over it - it's a mess. There are several items that say "hand breaded" or "hand dipped", just be skeptical, the couple of things I asked about were not actually house made. I ordered carry out. I waited about 15 minutes for my food which was more than enough time for me to leave smelling of grease. I grabbed my bag and drove the 5 minutes to home. The burgers were each wrapped in foil and each set in the to go box with a side that I had ordered separately. It's a good thing that we were sharing sides - had this been done for a group order, I can't imagine what a disorganized mess that could be. One of the boxes had the burger sitting in a small puddle of grease. Unwrapping the burgers revealed an unappetizing mess. The shoestring fries were already so cold and soggy that we threw them away. The onion rings, all 7 of them, were heavily breaded. The couple, where the ring was broken, were missing a significant portion of onion. At 50 cents a ring, they are a hard pass. All that being said, the burgers were actually delicious. I added grilled mushrooms and onions (an upcharge at a bargain 31 cents each). We had to eat part of the burgers with fork and knife so eating in the car is a complete no go. Then and after the since them Cajun Ranch Fries as well too. He order the same but add jerk seasoning...........now y'all mixed the sweet tea and lemonade thank me later. Now food service was spot on quick, called your last name and bring the food out to you. And the smell from the burger was heavenly my mouth watered. The Cajun fries smell delicious the first but of the burger............I couldn't stop eating it, my recommendation on the burger all topping but no tomato add mushroom. Having gone back to johnny grylls and given it another chance, I can happily say the owner has made some major changes to the staff, and quality has dramatically improved. I tried a single patty burger with all the regular fixings, and it was a good sandwich I have no complaints. I also tried the chicken wings and they were not bad, I saw reviews bashing them so I had to try myself and the other reviews were dramatic, the wings are an easy 4/5 perfectly normal wings. The "better than your grandmas" banana pudding is very good HOWEVER my grandma still had the better banana pudding, but that doesn't stop me from getting johnny grylls BP every time. To top it off I tried the fries and onion rings as well, and although I was not a big fan of either I believe it's more of a personal thing, I am very picky about my fries and onion rings. I officially give Johhny Gryllbus a 4/5 and would happily go back. This place opened earlier this year and this is my first visit. Johnny Gryll's reminds be of a college town burger and beer joint. Nothing fancy, no frills kind of place, with concrete floors, metal furniture, and a couple tvs. A garage door on the front wall is available to open up to the outside seating area during good weather. There is interior seating for about 50 to 60 people. I ordered a double cheeseburger and fries. The burger patties were over-cooked. The fries were shoe-string fries. Nothing to get excited about. The floor was dirty and very slippery. Some would say it was dirty and some would say it had character. I highly recommend they do something with the floor. The plain concrete floor has a greasy film and is an accident waiting to happen. read more

This is a great place to go for some good greasy food! I have been several times now and usually get some sort of variation of bone in wings and fries. The stingin honey garlic wings are great! I've also tried the garlic Parmesan and rattlesnake (honey stingin BBQ). The wings are crispy and they definitely don't short on the sauce. Homemade ranch is great to dip the wings in! Their fries are also very tasty. The Parmesan garlic truffle fries are very tasty, but this last time I got the Cajun ranch fries and they were DELICIOUS! My original post got deleted. I was in Huntsville aka the ville for only 3 days and went to this place twice. Paiden the young lady up front is the best. She made great suggestions and recommendations for the meal. I got the bacon burger the first time with my compadre. We were assured to buy a side of fries due to the amount for a combo size fry. The information was very helpful due to the size of the burger that had us almost full from the beginning. Once we completed the meal we definitely had to take an itis nap. The next time Paiden unfortunately was not working but I copied a customer in front of me while seemed like a regular. The monster Burger (something of that sort) like a third to half lb of meat 2 patties, mushrooms and other assorted toppings. This place has so much potential. However, the food is bland hamburger and fries were meh. In all honesty you could right down the street at chain restaurant get the same hamburger and fries with milkshake and still come out several dollars cheaper. The staff was friendly and knowledgeable about their menu. Who knew they serve free cookies when you eat in? But be aware when the staff puts fresh cookies in the bin, they do with their bare hands. I watched the staff take out the tongs that customers use and put it in cups that the customers use. They proceeded to still place the fresh cookies in the box with their hands smh. Let's start off with the restaurant itself is dark and dim and it doesn't look like much. The service was bare minimum. The two ladies who I talked to were nice. But there was a big dude in the kitchen, who stared at me constantly as if why I'm inside the restaurant at all. While waiting for my food, they decided to hook up to the Bluetooth and play a song and blasted it throughout the entire restaurant where you could barely hear yourself talk or think, because they wanted to create a TikTok. The peppers were probably placed on the grill for maybe a minute before they mashed the whole bunch of my burger, which all fell off The french fries came to my table Luke warm told me they cook the fries first before any of the other food as for the wings. Love this place. The double and triple burgers, philly cheese steaks, traditional wings are all great. The boneless wings are lacking. Cheap fake chx like a nugget with fillers. The fries are great and you can add Cajun or Jerk seasoning to them. You can also add any topping on anything. Grilled onions, peppers, jalapeños etc. The atmosphere is nice with the roll up door. It can get hot in there sometimes. Thursday is trivia night, Saturday is the cruise in with a live band. So all in all I Love JGII. If they would improve the boneless chx and add a number system so employees aren't walking around yelling out names for orders it would be pretty close to a perfect spot. Give it a shot. My wife and I have eaten here dozens of times. We think the owner is a nice guy. We like most of the staff. It is a bit quirky or indie. My wife likes a really well down burger. Charred. We like thin, crispy fries. I like beer. We both like the thin patty, In&Out/Steak&Shake type burger and I like wings. The burgers here are not the best, but one of the best of that kind that ALSO sells wings. So, this place is kind of an "our place compromise". I wouldn't recommend it to anyone else for that reason. I am certain that Johnny is the same guy from the the movie, The Room. Let me tell you, he has a fine operation going here. The beer flows very cheaply and the millennials that work here are the type I am able to connect with on an emotional level. I may just learn how to ride a skateboard and come back in hopes to impress them. The wings are delish and well worth the possible heart disease later in life. A 3 dollar pitcher of Bud Light means I can panhandle just on the corner of University and the coat factory to gain enough cash to have a couple. I've been here three or four times but if I lived in Huntsville, I'd go way more often. I haven't found a local place near me which makes burgers as well as Johnny Gryll's.
