Decided to try here for lunch after working in the area. This is a relatively large restaurant for the small town it occupies. It's got sort of classic bbq restaurant vibes. It seemed clean enough and comfortable. You come in and order at the counter. They have a larger menu than I really expected. They have bbq dishes, hamburgers, and some daily specials that change up from time to time. I believe they also do steak at night. The service was adequately friendly and they delivered my food to the spot I chose to sit. As I often do when I'm unfamiliar with the bbq at a restaurant, I chose to order a loaded pork potato to be on the safer side. They gave me the choice of "solid or liquid" cheese, which I eventually figured out meant shredded cheese or cheez-wiz. I'm glad I picked solid lol. Somewhat interestingly it also comes with jalapeños and banana peppers, unless told otherwise. That's kind of unusual. It came out quickly. It was decent to look at but pretty disappointing all around. First off, it seems like a large potato, but when split down the middle, the actual toppings (meat, cheese, butter, jalapeños and banana peppers) were actually fairly sparse in their distribution. It was fairly dry and definitely needed more butter (or ANY sour cream). I'm thankful for the presence of the jalapeños and banana peppers because otherwise it would've been pretty bland. The pork had a slightly acrid quality to it and was dry and stringy. I tried a little bbq sauce and it was okay, but too sweet even for me - and I say that as someone who loves sweeter bbq sauce. Overall, this was a pretty unimpressive visit, but perhaps their other offerings are better. read more

Food is edible. Place is clean. It's exactly what you'd expect from a small town restaurant... Fried stuff, burgers, pre-packaged bbq, hot dogs. Hours are questionable and it closes randomly so always call before you go. read more

Very inconsistent. Sometimes it's okay, and other times it's not. I think it's because of a shortage of good help. The fried catfish was soggy and the steak had too much gristle. read more

Ok this was by far the best bbq you could ever hope to have!! We got a 1/2 slab of ribs, which came with 9 meaty ribs!! They were fall off the bone juicy ribs, perfectly seasoned and server with the best bbq sauce ever!! We got a side of fries and beans. The beans weren't my favorite but they were still good!! Food: Food was very good, most of us ordered the BBQ plate and the pulled pork was tender and the mayo coleslaw was perfect. Ambiance: Super cute place, felt like the picture perfect Alabama lunch stop. Service: The people were so sweet, one said she recognized we were tourists when my sister asked what a hush puppy was and we had a good laugh about that. Price: Good price point for a BBQ lunch. We were visiting relatives & went to Cathedral Caverns for the afternoon. I saw Porky's on the side of the road & we decided to stop for lunch. I'm a huge barbecue fan & have had good barbecue in many places. But their barbecue sauce & rib sauce is probably the best I've ever tasted. They make it in house & it is well worth the try. Southern hospitality & great food at it's finest. I will definitely make another visit next time we come back this way. read more

First time I've ever been. I just built a house in the area and wanted to try something new. I walked in to this establishment and was blown away how nice that it looked. It had a very nice atmosphere and the staff was super friendly. They helped us out with the items on the menu. I got the DOUBLE CHEESEBURGER with curly fries and my wife got the pulled pork stuffed baked potato. Both we HUGE portions and we're very delicious. The burger was fresh and the pork on the potato was super tender and full of flavor. The cornerstone of the meal has to be the Delicious BBQ, I'm assuming they make it in house. Black Angus steak, prime rib and BBQ pork. YUM YUM. We stopped by this place after visiting Cathedral Caverns. It is a small local place, perfect. Food is excellent and service with a smile. Luckily we missed the golf ball sized hail that hit the day before. If you are in the area STOP & EAT you will not be disappointed. Closed on Sundays. Close at 2 on Saturday. read more

BBQ is not actually barbecued, so I would pass on that. hours are sporadic now as well, never know when they're open. some decent stuff, nothing special. sleepy town diner with no personality. still, not bad for a quick bite. I would recommend Mimi's right down the road if she's open. read more

Food is bad and way overpriced. I ordered the BBQ & it was cold, mushy and maybe previously frozen. I don't think they make anything in house. I would not recommend eating here- but Cathedral Caverns is well worth the trip! read more

To tell you this would rank as the one of the very best steaks I've ever eaten would simply be an understatement. Wonderful cut of aged Ribeye seasoned and cooked to absolute perfection.
