W16 - Chicken Katsu Banh Mi

I just love this place so much. Chicken katsu bahn mi with garlic bread is where it's at. It's so yummy and when I get it for lunch they are quick and so nice. The cost of the sandwich is super affordable for what you get. I just love it.

My coworkers were kind enough to take me here for my birthday lunch at the end of March! I am so proud of the Vietnamese food here in Huntsville and was excited to try the newest addition. I've heard that this business is owned by the same people who own Viet House in Jones Valley. The menus are not too terribly similar but that doesn't mean anything one way or another. Viet Crispwich places more emphasis on banh mi and noodle dishes. They are similar in that both restaurants, in my experience, serve high quality and tasty products efficiently and with kindness and humility. Note this restaurant is somewhat "off the beaten path;" I think of it as behind the large shopping center that contains Ol Heidelberg and others, but that's a matter of perspective/what direction you're approaching from. Regardless, there's a large parking lot. The restaurant has some outdoor seating and a few tables inside. It's not terribly large and it does get busy; a huge group would probably struggle here. That said, the four of us were able to find a table without too much struggle. They have some very well-priced and generously portioned lunch specials, which is what we all got. Three of us, myself included, got the L8 "Beef Up," which is a beef banh mi, dumplings in chili oil, a small salad, and a drink. My last companion got the L7, which comes with a pork banh mi, egg rolls, and dumplings. It did take a moderate amount of time to get our food, but they were pretty busy. I'll admit, as much as I love Vietnamese food, this was my first time ordering a banh mi! I just always find myself drawn to other dishes. But I'd heard so much good stuff about the sandwiches here I had to go with it. It was quite tasty! Very fresh and flavorful. I enjoyed the three different sauces available to add to it that were brought out. The slightly spicy, creamy one was my favorite. The bread was crispy without being dry or hard and the meat was very flavorful. Some pieces of beef were a little chewy/tough but a great sandwich overall! The fresh jalapeños were extra yummy. The dumplings were also good. Very tender and delicate. Don't be afraid of the chili oil/sauce; they really weren't hot at all and indeed needed a little more heat for my preference. It was easy to doctor them with the sauces on the table. The small side salad was a nice accompaniment to the meal. On our way out, I nabbed a tiramisu cream milk tea with black pearl boba - it was my birthday, after all. :). This was good too, super decadent and rich. I would've ideally liked a little more coffee or chocolate flavor (it was on the milky side) but overall I liked it! I'd happily return here in the future! I feel like I need another visit or two to definitively place it on my ranking of best Vietnamese in Huntsville, but wherever it eventually winds up, it's certainly tasty enough to warrant a visit. Try them out!

Lots of bread and pickled vegetables but very little shredded chicken. A huge disappointment!

This review is for the Shredded Chicken Banh Mi ONLY. We decided to try this banh mi before suggesting a friend try it. She has Lyme disease and is able to eat chicken. This banh mi is a hot sandwich versus cold like the traditional banh mi. Upon inspection, there was very little shredded chicken. Very little. We ordered our foods for takeout and had I been dining in, I would have asked to speak to the manager. I rarely ask to speak to a manager about food but this sandwich was severely lacking protein. We could not taste shredded chicken. The only taste was hot from the jalapeño and vinegar from the pickled carrots and daikon. A huge disappointment and I am so glad I didn't recommend this before trying it!! I don't know what went wrong. Maybe the kitchen was out of shredded chicken? The person that prepared the banh mi needs additional training in my humble opinion. I expect to taste the protein if I order a sandwich with protein. I hate to give a lower score because the food is good here. The shredded chicken banh mi was a complete fail the day I bought it. 3/5

I finally went to this place for lunch the other day. It was very busy. The first thing I noticed was that they had more room for tables than the amount of tables they had out. They should probably fix that as popular as this place is. I ordered the bulgogi bahn mi and the chili oil dumplings. I also got the tiramisu cream brew. Everything was fantastic. Their coffee is to die for. It was so rich though I saved half for the next day. After the dumplings, I was only able to eat half the bahn mi, which was a great snack for later. Best of all it was $21 for everything.

It's been a few years since I had a good banh mi, and this place was exactly what I was missing in my life. They make their bread in house, and that is noticeable when you get a banh mi. I goy the traditional one, the bread was great, they didn't skimp on the pate or meat, and the pickled veggies were spot on. I also got the Taro velvet brew, which was so delicious and not overtly sweet. The menu has a variety of sandwiches, noodles, rice bowls, soup, and tons of tasty drinks. This is a fast food style place, they have a few tables inside and some outside, with tons of parking. I can't wait to go back.

Deliciousness in every way! We tried the skillet sweet chili noodles with veggies, chicken banh mi, bang bang shrimp banh mi and the jasmine milk boba tea. Each dish was seasoned to perfection, had just the right amount of sauce and included fresh, delicious crunchy vegetables! The bread for the banh mi sandwiches was the best we'd ever had and was reminiscent of baguettes from France. The restaurant had a modern vibe with indoor and dining al fresco options available, plenty of parking and friendly servers. Service was a little slow, we waited 20 minutes for our meal; however, in all fairness we were there on a busy Friday for lunch. Run, don't walk to check out this great new Huntsville spot!

Been wanting to try this place since it opened. They're currently going through a soft opening right now with a 15% discount. I came here for lunch with colleagues and everyone loved it. Can't wait to come back and try more. It's such a good value for what you pay for. I ordered a Tiramisu Cloud Brown Sugar Tea (for the boba) and a Tofu Lovers Combo. I received a Tiramisu Cream Brew instead, and they were happy to give me the actual drink instead.

I've been wanting to try this place ever since I happened to see it while stopping in at the coffee shop next door. I can say that it was worth it!! The staff is super friendly and the dining area feels clean and not overly crowded with tables. The food was excellent!! I've been missing an authentic banh mi here in Huntsville and now we finally have one! Prices are very reasonable for such high quality food, plus fresh baked bread for the banh mi! If you are a Vietnamese food fan or ever wanted to try it, now is the time. Stop by and you won't be disappointed!

I wish this place wasn't so hidden because I've been looking for good Banh Mi in Huntsville. The chicken katsu banh mi was good but the beef bulgogi banh mi was amazing! The staff was friendly and helped us decide what to order. I'll definitely be back to try more of the menu options.

Front entrance. Staff connecting with patrons is always so nice to see!

Amazing experience here! Staff are incredibly welcoming, warm and informative about their menu. Their menu can be adjusted too which I truly appreciated since I had my little one with me, spicy fixings can be placed on the side as well as sauces. They have an extensive menu as well as a boba menu. Service is fast! The food was delicious and very filling, we even placed a second to go because it was that good. There's outdoor seating with a some turf, inside was clean, restrooms were very pretty and clean as well. I definitely recommend checking this place out!

Y'all have to try this joint!! As you walk in, you instantly greeted with a smile and great customer service. Nice interior space and outdoor seating too. I ordered the Angry grilled pork Banh Mi and dangggg it was sooo good! The baguette is amazing and it compliments the spiciness of the meat and plethora of flavors partying in your mouth. The price was good and I knew I had to come back. I got the Spicy Tom Yum noodle soup the next day and yumminess too. The spicy level is tolerable and not over the top. Tried the Crackling Pork Belly Banh Mi and Spicy Chili Oil Noodle next. I went there 4 times in my 10 days stay. That's how good it is!!! I'm going to miss this place and the friendly staff

And I highly recommend them always), a chardonnary, lemongrass chicken, and chicken fried rice to go for the Hubs. First off, they now serve Sutter home wine in airplane plastic bottles. YUCK. Even their wine previously, which was poured from a bottle, was nargial but it was better than this, which was awful! Again the rolls were delish, as always! Thanks for that! The peanut dipping sauce was delicious also! So there's that. On to the main, the lemongrass chicken. It should have been called sauteed bell pepper and onions with white rice. The chicken was finely chopped for the most part and I left hungry. All this was 40.00 with a tip and again it was not the standard Viet Huong used to have with hearty meals that constantly made a nice leftover lunch for me. They have gotten stingy on their protein at least in the lemongrass. I noticed it last time I came here and chocked it up to being an off night. Well it's apparantly the new norn. This is one of mybdwarrst friend/Sorority Sister's favorite places to eat as she typically gets their Pho. I'll go back if I get to enjoy her company, I just don't plan to visit solo again. It's too expensive to get awful "wine" and skimpy proteins. The last next to me was another soko diner and complained about her (I think) vegan or vegetarian meal she called in advance about and then showed up and it wasn't available per her request. There was no manager working the floor and I didn't complain, and likely that's why I didn't see a manager. I do hope your experience at this long-standing locallwd owned and opened by a high school classmate is much better than my last two visits were.
