I had Tupelo Honey close to when they opened and it was phenomenal, but today was a different story. The drinks and server were really good but the food has took too many steps back. The chicken skin kept falling off the meat, the sweet and spicy chicken was way too hot, almost unbearable to eat for my girlfriend. And then the Caesar had too much anchovie taste which wasn't good. The Brussels sprouts needed to get cooked longer too. Overall it wasn't bad but not enjoyable, but corporate needs to change it back to the old chicken recipe. read more

Our first time going and in - laws second time! They were the biggest ones to recommend this spot the last time they visited with the most delicious pictures. They try enjoy the area occasionally to make the best of each moment and this was definitely a place for save in the "Favorites" collection! To begin with the atmosphere was inviting and modern. Photo op walls are the best, as well as detail oriented interior design down to plating. Hubby and I shared a half chicken of the honey dusted chicken and it was mesmerizing. Tender, not dry, seasoned just enough with their "bee dust," and sides were great as well. A lot more Brussels sprouts than I expected but was able to share, would probably get the fried okra next time. Biscuits for a cause and preserves I give a 7/10. The fruit was pretty runny, not like a jam, although the butter was great. Texture of the biscuit could be worked on but it wasn't dry or bland, just different which is why trying things is important! Don't know until you find out. Hubs met his friend for lunch here last Friday. He enjoyed his chicken sandwich. He brought me an order of shrimp and grits to go. The dish was packaged well, and travelled well. There were ample shrimps in the dish and the shrimps were seasoned well and tasty! Both the shrimps and the grits were exceptional quality. The grits were very creamy and again, seasoned well! The lemon was grilled which is a lovely touch and the scallions/sliced onions offered a touch of freshness and flavor. There was an abundance of grease in the dish which was the only evidence of any chorizo sausage. In accustomed to having andouille sausage in shrimp and grits and usually they are medallions, sliced like coins. Sometimes the sausage is diced and it's always seared. The sausage was absent. Day one I ate the shrimp and day two I cooked some andouille sausage we had, removed the grease from my leftovers, and had the grits with our andouille medallions. The grits were cheesy and creamy and really good and they did taste great with the addition of our sausage. I'm sure Tupelo Honey would have corrected the missing sausage had I been present at lunch. I was pleased with the quality of the ingredients, just disappointed the sausage was missing. read more

This was my first time here and I sat at the bar. The bar staff were very helpful and friendly. They gave great recommendations. The Old Fashioned was very good and I had them change the bourbon to a high-proof rye. They had no objections at all. Since this was my first time, they said I had to try the fried chicken. I had no problem accepting that suggestion and I'm glad I went with it. The chicken was fantastic. It's a bit spicy on its own so be very careful if you get one of the dustings or the Sriracha honey sauce. Ask for it on the side, because it has some bite on the backside. :) The salad was good, but standard. The mashed potatoes, well, they tasted like instant. There was kind of that watery, thin taste. Not like the good ones mom used to make. The gravy made up for the lack of flavor. I may have been better served just eating the gravy. The place has a laidback, easy-going vibe. Everyone seemed laidback and happy. When the staff is like that I take it as a good sign. Finally, the butter pecan, strawberry cheesecake is a great finish, if you can fit it in. Tupelo Honey Cafe On Saturday, June 30, my husband and I visited Tupelo Honey Café in Huntsville, Alabama. This was our second horrible experience there. The first we chopped up to the location being new. We have had great experiences at other locations outside Alabama. We started our order with an appetizer. After two hours, we still did not have our food and were told the staff forgot to put the order in. At that time, we expressed we wanted to cancel the order. The restaurant declined to make any accommodation or comp the appetizers. We definitely will not be returning to the Huntsville locations. read more

I visited a friend in Huntsville, and my friend suggested trying Tupelo Honey Southern Kitchen. We both have never been to this place, so we didn't have any huge expectations. I was pleasantly surprised at how lovely the decor of this restaurant. It was very modern and chic with great esthetics. That hands down was a plus for me. Moving on to my experience, it was actually very lovely. The server was really nice and was helpful reviewing the menu with my party. The menu was pretty good. It had typical American brunch/breakfast, but they also had a few twist to some of the item. Very tasty. This was a solid pick for brunch. It's an IG worthy place to be, and the food is solid which is a win to me. If I lived here, I could definitely see myself going back. I hadn't been back for a while and we came for Easter Sunday. Note that they do not serve alcohol before 10am. Our group wanted bloody Mary's but had to wait. We all ordered coffee and it took a while for that to come out, and we struggled to get refills. I ordered the farmhouse breakfast platter and they messed up a bunch of my order. I asked for a biscuit, they gave me toast. I asked for grits and they gave me Potatoes. They did fix the issue quickly. I am also still annoyed that you pay for their signature biscuits when that used to be part of the experience to sit down and get the biscuits. read more

The restaurant was clean and modern. The only issue I had was the lighting was very dim with no on table lighting. Wow, this was delicious and well priced. Located right next to the Orion they are known for brunch and their fried chicken. We started off with their Mountain blueberry margarita and Tupelo honey margarita. Both were unique and refreshing in their own way. The Tupelo honey was a classic and just delicious overall. The blueberry margarita was more sour than I expected but still good. Next we ordered some biscuits as they are well known for them. My only complaint is they are super crumbly and it makes it a bit difficult to spread with butter and the blueberry compote they give you. My boyfriend ordered their Famous honey dusted chicken and Rosemary & Parmesan Crispy Potatoes. The potatoes were absolutely amazing and I love anything done with rosemary just delicious. His chicken was crisp well seasoned and extremely tender. I ordered the Asheville Hot Chicken & Ranch Melt with a side salad. The sandwich itself was delicious. Well toasted bread, delicious chicken, perfectly melted cheese, and I opted for the ranch on the side in case I did not eat the entire sandwich which I did not lol. The side salad was good except for the cucumbers. I've noticed down in this area all the cucumbers are extremely bitter and not flavorful. Slap your momma good! I have NEVER had a more delicious meal, bar none. Came in for dinner and had no clue of what experience I was about to have. The place was clean, great vibe and music playing. Put me right at ease. Mateo was the best. I decided on the chicken tenders, sprouts and a side salad. When that tender hit my mouth, I was in heaven! Words can't describe. I kept slapping the tabletop. Hahaha Prices are extremely reasonable, and staff was just wonderful. Heading back tonight as I only have one more night here in town. Well this time, the mediocre food was very very mediocre. We got the sweet and spicy chicken sandwich and it looked so pretty but the chicken was Saharan. So dry. The tomato was mushy and it was all almost absent of flavor. The kids grilled cheese was beautiful but also no flavor. The chicken and waffles meal was also pretty but just very blah. The fries were overly salted. They weren't busy at all but the server was rude- enough so that even my kids noticed. Maybe she was having a bad day and the servers are normally great, but that was not our experience.. We kept having to ask for ketchup and sauce because everything was just devoid of flavor or way too salty, so maybe this was irritating? But in any case, we will not be back. Which I hate because the Tupelo Honey in Chattanooga is my favorite!- I even bought a cookbook from there! I hope this restaurant makes some changes. The area is beautiful! read more

I thought I hit send last week but I didn't. We came in last weekend for breakfast and I've been to the Franklin, TN location but wanted to see how this one lined up with them. The locus awesome and in the middle of everything. The decor is really nice and I like the option of eating inside or outside. A big plus in this area. Our server came immediately after we were seated. I highly recommend making a reservation through OPEN TABLE because it fills up fast. We had the breakfast sampler, smothered chicken and the best sweet potato pancakes in the world. All of our entrees came out hot and delicious. Also, order a side of the biscuits and get the peach preserves with warm butter. Thank me later. But most importantly, no matter what you order, please order a small stack of the sweet potato pancakes. They so are so delicious and just the amount of sweetness. I sat at the bar and Scott was my server/bartender. He helped me decide on my meal. I ordered the honey chiracha chicken with collard greens. The chicken was super tasty with just a hint of spice. The collards were equally delicious and cooked to perfection. I had the Tupelo honey margarita for happy hour and it was amazing. Very lovely taste. I also had the biscuits with Tupelo honey and blueberry jam. I licked my fingers quite a bit behind this meal. For dessert I had a mini banana pudding and I took a pecan chocolate pie to go. Both were superb. The restaurant was not busy as I arrived before the rush, which was nice for me. There was music playing softly and the hun of other patrons talking spread thru the restaurant. Great service, incredibly kind people and we sat relatively quick. Great ambiance and light for brunch/ lunch. I would suggest the breakfast/ brunch foos personally. This restaurant does fried chicken very well! I loved the chicken and waffles. The waffles were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. The chicken ranch melt was also pretty good. My mom enjoyed her shrimp and grits and my sister loved the sweet potato pancake. The collards lacked luster and the tomato soup was average. My biggest deterrent was the chicken salad sandwich. I've had my fair share of chicken salads, and I like them in a multitude of ways. At this chicken salad was oddly sweet. It smelled like a Krispy Kreme doughnut. This is personally not my thing, but if you enjoy a sweet chicken salad, you may want to try this sandwich. It had a good amount of meat and was well dressed. read more

I've been to this restaurant several times, my most recent visit was on February 15th. Everything has changed. The chicken tenders had been my favorite as well as the mustard horseradish blend dipping sauce. I was informed on the 15th that this sauce was no longer available. The other sauces provided - honey mustard, ranch & two others that defy description - were awful. Bottled grocery chain sauces would've been better. The chicken tenders were so salty, I was drinking gallons of water the rest of the day. The breading fell off of the tenders. My husband's favorite menu item (chicken & sausage gravy) was no longer on the menu. The less said about his alternate choice the better. The mimosa my husband got was good though, so there is that positive. My coffee was meh. Metro diner's coffee is WAY better. Neither of us will return. There are many other less expensive & more satisfying restaurants in the area that we will frequent. In the meantime, my sympathies for the uniformed lines of people waiting to get in. We went there for Sunday breakfast. The wait staff was prompt, friendly and knowledgeable. We ordered the Plantation Breakfast. If you want to have Mimosos to drink you need to arrive after 10 am. We started with the fresh hot "biscuits for a cause" and they came out with a small container of butter and blackberry jam. They were fresh, hot and delicious. The breakfast came quickly and was freshly made and looked very appetizing. The eggs were cooked perfectly, our orders came with "crispy potatoes" and bacon along with TX Toast. Everything was well prepared and was delicious. We will definitely be back to try more of the menu items. I highly recommend this restaurant. read more

As a small southern chain started in Asheville, NC, it's great to see this locally-sourced, made from scratch restaurant expand to Huntsville. Like any new restaurant, it was exceptionally busy when we visited to Sunday brunch, and although we were lucky enough to score a reservation, I heard the hostess say the wait was over 2 hours. We were seated immediately. Service was a but slow, but this was more than to be expected since they were pretty slammed, so be patient. There is ample seating indoors and outdoors with booths, high tops, and low tops. We started off with Bloody Mary's (and a Bloody Maria) to awaken our senses. I like a good spicy one, so I was impressed by the level of spice and the freshness of the Bloody Mary mix. Bloody Maria was very tequila forward (so, of course, no complaints here!). The food: the spicy chicken and waffle was a standout. They are known fir their fried chicken, and you get to choose whether u want dark meat (two thighs) or white meat (2 breasts). The steak and eggs was a bit of a letdown since the hash that accompanies it was just luke warm and the steak wasn't the most tender--even at medium rare. Later, I switched to an expresso martini which was so sweet I had to send it back, which they happily remade for me. I'd definitely come back to try more items on the menu! read more

I came in requesting a quiet place to eat and smaller portions, and my server Scott was incredibly kind and attentive to my needs. Appetizer: Pimento cheese cast iron queso ** 4 starts due to stale chips that seemed like the were from the bottom of the bag (mainly crumbs); the dip itself was pretty good. Entrées: Blackened mahi mahi with choice of side (fried ocrae and goat cheese grits) friend said it was great and waitress mentioned it was a good choice. Buttermilk fried chicken tenders, comes with 3 different sauces - horseradish, honey mustard, and BBQ. Choice of 1 side - collards. Very good, juicy chicken. I liked the choice of sauces. Shrimp and grits: friend said he wished the grits weren't as runny and more thick with even more cheese. Stated he really liked the bites with chorizo. Salmon: friend said glaze was really good? And waitress stated a lot of customers ordered the dish that day. He had the Parmesan potatoes and collars as sides. I loved the open concept restaurant, and large bar. This was my first time dining at MidCity Tupelo Honey location and while the food was great, the overall experience was mixed. It was very crowded when we arrived, but thankfully my parents had made a reservation and only had to wait about 5 minutes past the scheduled time to be seated. Parking was a bit of a challenge -- we ended up parking on the street, though I believe there's a public parking deck nearby if you're unfamiliar with the area like I was. Once inside, I wasn't greeted when I walked in, which was a little off-putting. Service throughout our visit was disappointing. Our server, Daesha, was extremely inattentive. My parents had been seated for about 10 minutes and still hadn't received straws until I arrived and asked. After we placed our food order, she never returned to refill waters, and when we requested extra sauces, we had to ask another server to bring them since she never came back. I understand the restaurant is newly opened, and I'm hopeful the service will improve over time because the food itself was really good. With a few service adjustments, this could easily become a go-to spot. read more
