This place is always amazing and everything always seems so fresh. The few basic choices for the main menu make it pretty easy to figure out what to order, but the huge selection of empanadas is daunting. I've tried at least eight of them and they're all great. The best empanadas I've ever had! Many different types, but each one made with delicious quality, making it hard to have favorites. The inside is a little small, but the ambiance is cozy. Not sure if their new place is bigger or not. One thing I didn't enjoy was no AC during the summer, making it a little extra warm in the heat. This place is tiny but they are moving to a bigger spot across the street. The service was excellent and their kitchen was spotless ( they let me use their bathroom since we drove a long way). Empanadas were tasty. I thought their sauces were a little thick but defiantly flavorful. I'm not sure they were needed because the empanadas were plenty flavorful. Finally went here after being hounded by a bud for months, and it was well worth it. Small spot but luckily it wasn't crowded when I went. The girls behind the counter were super friendly and empanadas were FRESH. Highlights from my first trip are the beef tinga and Kailua pork empanadas. I went in today to pick up my lunch order. There were a lot of boxes lying around and I saw a tall guy bend over to pick up a box and when he bent over, I saw his plumber's crack. Half of his butt was hanging out! It looked like he wasn't wearing any underwear. I love the empanadas here. The location is in a small parking lot. A lil pricey but very tasty.

We wanted to try different empanadas, so we each ordered four and split them. The savory ones were grilled corn, potato and chorizo, beef tinga, ham and cheese, Kahlua pig, and bbq pork. They were all great, but I especially liked the Kahlua pig. It had a pleasantly sweet flavor. If you can only get one, that's what I would recommend, but I would try all of them if possible. We really enjoyed them. We also tried two dessert empanadas, the banana nutella, and the chocolate coconut. They were both good, but I really loved the chocolate coconut. Other reviews talk about how small the place is, and it is, but we went on a Friday night, and we had no problem parking or finding a seat. Maybe it gets packed at lunch time or something. read more

We ordered our takeout this afternoon midst of the whole covid-19 crisis. They have one person who takes the order (order only) and the chef who makes your food. They are both wearing the masks and chef has his gloves on. Super clean, kitchen is visible so you can see exactly how they make your food. I can tell they are doing everything they can to keep the community safe. Anyways, this place has always been our favorite place since they were at the smaller location across the street. Their food is beyond delicious and their interior is so cute! Staffs are always friendly too. I always forget to take pictures because we devour them before I take the ig pics. Anyways our favorite is #2 combo (comes with 2 skewers, fries, salad with balsamic vinaigrette, choice of 1 empanada), and we order like 3 chorizo &potato empanada, beef tinga empanada, and chicken al pastor. Just had lunch here and I think this is gonna be one of my favorite spots in the valley. I had the lunch special which came with two empanadas. I got spinach and cheese and chicken el pastor. Both of which were delectable and the dipping sauces were amazing! My friend got the island style and the beef was succulent and flavorful. The dressing for the salad is bomb too. After reading all of the amazing reviews on Yelp! My fiance and I thought we would check out grab some lunch here. We both got lunch specials ($7.50 each). The spinach&cheese empanada was savory and the shell was crispy; not greasy at all. The pineapple empanada was absolutely delicious. Now for the reason they lost a star: Cajun sausage empanada lacked flavor and the sides (field greens salad and French fries) were merely a handful of greens/ no dressing/ nothing interesting and a huge plate of previously frozen potato sticks. The empanadas WERE NOT "huge" like some other Yelpers claim! They were maybe 2" at their widest point and not very full. I will probably give them an other try. read more

Awesome place! The food here is made with lots of love and the two guys making the food are so wonderful. I've had the #1 and 2 skewer plates. I preferred the rice over the fries but both really delish. The food comes out so fresh. I love their guava salad dressing and all their dipping sauces like basil aioli. Came here a twice, once with the boyfriend and once with Dad. This place has such great skewers!! Chicken was great, but if you love chimmichurri like I do, choose the steak. You won't be disappointed! Tender cuts of meat with onions and peppers. And they come in pairs. What more do you want? The skewers also come with your choice of an empanada. I've tried the spinach and cheese and the chorizo one. Chorizo did not really taste like chorizo, but the spinach one was delicious. Dad's chicken empanadas were tasty as well. On my second venture, I happened to sit next to Johnny himself without realizing. Slight eavesdropping... he mentioned that the place had never seen a bug since opening. Finally went back. This is a comprehensive review of what I ordered (to go). I tried the empanadas here once a couple years ago and liked it, but never got back for some reason (tiny parking lot/crappy location doesn't help). So, after spending the day thinking about how good empanadas sounded for dinner, I finally swung by to get some to go. Picked up the #2, chimichurri steak skewer special, which includes one empanada (not two as another reviewes indicated), fries (meh) and a mixed greens salad (dressing was delish). Everything really was absolutely delicious (everything that matters anyway--the fries were boring and forgettable). The crown jewel of the meal: the best empanada I have ever had (kalua pig). Absolutely fantastic. I want two more please. Aside from the tiny parking lot and the sense of relief that washed over me when I got out the door with my order and realized my car was still there (Saticoy & Winnetka is not a great area), I have two complaints: 1) Price was high for the amount of steak you actually get. Yes, I am satisfied after finishing my meal, but at $13+ incl tax for a quick dinner to go from a little place like this, I had better be satisfied. However, about 1/3 of that "fullness" is from the very mediocre fries, which I could do without; if a restaurant is going to live up the "Top 100" ranking on Yelp (i.e. high expectations), everything in my meal had best be outstanding. Everything. Including the fries and the sense of value for my hard-earned $$. If I came here with my two kids for dinner, it would easily be over $50. Absolutely not happening. This is a $11/person experience, max. 2) The steak skewers were delicious, but unfortunately really, really tiny. It is a very good thing a huge empanada came with my meal, or I would have been hungry afterwards. I cook (a lot--yes, really), and am a good judge of both quality and quantity, so please believe me when I tell you there was about 3 oz of meat in total between both skewers. The rest were veggies (which is fine--and the balance was actually good). The meal was delicious, but if the skewers are THAT small, there should probably be four of them for this price. I would have given this experience five stars if I had more (read: enough) of that (admittedly delicious) steak. So, Johnny Pacific: Loved the empanada and the CC steak skewers. Chimi sauce was fantastic too. Suggest you either add another empanada or two more skewers of meat (and improve the fries) to the dinner specials. Will I be back? Yes, but only for empanadas. read more

Seriously, this place is such a hidden gem -- I come here once a week (I live right down the street & I always say I can never move bc I can't bear to leave my precious JP).
