Absolutely Trash Establishment - Avoid at All Costs I came to Star Bar for all of 30 seconds--literally just to return a pool stick I had borrowed from a buddy. Didn't even walk inside. While standing outside, one of their drunk regulars--clearly overserved--immediately started threatening me for no reason. This wasn't some back-and-forth; the guy got up, walked off the patio, came onto the public sidewalk, and got in my face. I defended myself. That's it. He ended up on the ground, and I walked away. The bar's response? They 86'd me--not the aggressive drunk they kept feeding alcohol to--but the guy who showed restraint until his personal space was completely invaded. This place has a shady, volatile crowd, terrible judgment, and a staff that protects their reckless regulars no matter what they do. If you're into garbage service, toxic regulars, and being blamed for other people's drunken stupidity, by all means--check out Star Bar. Otherwise, steer clear. We are new here to California and found the Star Bar close to where we are staying. Everyone is always so friendly when we come in. We have been in here 4 or 5 times and have met some of the nicest people. all the bartenders have been especially friendly and very helpful. I know I do a lot of reviews on bars, but this one is special. This is my default bar. As an extroverted introvert, every time I walk into a bar I am a bit uncomfortable. Not here, the first time we came here was for Sunday night football and the moment we walked in we were greeted by an awesome bartender, Priscilla. She made me feel right at home. The regulars there were also very friendly and welcoming. We have been coming for a bit over a year now weekly on Wednesday night for karaoke and the crowd, the service (Monica is one of my all time favorite bartenders) the drinks, the food, the atmosphere, the value are all great! I've been here at some point on just about every night of the week and it's always a good time. Stop in for a drink, you won't be disappointed . read more

To start, I like this bar a lot and I go there very frequently, but as a Yelper I must be upfront with my reviews. First, I love the bartenders. Monica is my hero! She's amazing, sweet, fun, and funny. They let you drink til 1:59 which I also super appreciate. The drinks are cheap! Especially for LA. I wish they had more of a beer selection as well. Over all there aren't a ton of options for anything in particular. The downsides. They no longer have food, which bums me out because it used to look fabulous! Several other regulars who come to this bar are problematic. I've had several get in my face, or in other ways drunkenly made me want to leave or otherwise uncomfortable. I do believe that some of the other bartenders over serve people quite frequently. I've seen several fights outside, drunk people falling off of bar stools, or just being insanely loud. The chairs and tables are pretty gnarly. A lot are ripped and busted. Ownership has changed hands, so hopefully they tighten up. Regardless I'll be there! read more

They are closed down at the moment. On yelp it said they are open for business, they need to report that they are closed. My co workers and I was heading to this place after work on a Friday for some drinks. I called the number multiple times , the number was out of service , I had to call the hotel Holiday Inn which they are not part of the star bar had told me that they are closed. It was very disappointing because we had to look for another place and I had to have 4-5 other people driving all over the place. I love a good dive bar! This place has wonderful bartenders that are friendly and look out for their customers. The bar itself does not carry a huge variety of top-shelf brands or beers (it's a dive bar), but the bartenders are willing to go the extra mile to make you something similar if they don't have exactly what you want. A very cool little bar that Daniel L. and I decided to check out after last nights YEE at Bourbon steak house in Glendale (and after we couldn't find the bar that Katie B. had suggested the after party be moved to). Star seems a little off the beaten path when you think Glendale, but it's in my neighborhood and we decided to give it a shot. We arrived at 1 am and stayed until closing, at the time we were the only patrons, but it was a Tuesday night and as one of the workers (John) told us Tuesdays are their quiet nights (which is fine for us) and he suggested other nights to come check it out if we were looking for a more lively atmosphere. They offer a yelp check in offer for $3 kamikaze shots (with no limit besides "be responsible") and stellas were $5. We found parking right outside, but it's attached to the hotel, so I'm pretty sure they have a lot too. Would totally go back. read more
