The place has a very retro vibe, from the '50s diner style tables and chairs to the wall decor and jukebox, everything is very retro. Our server, Leonardo was very friendly, courteous and went out of his way to bring us a half and half platter of onion rings and fries as we couldn't decide if we wanted one or the other, although it wasn't an option on the menu. The food and drink portions here are very generous. I loved my Orange Crush and vanilla ice cream float, the husband enjoyed his vanilla milkshake and the half/half portion of the fries were fresh and really good too! Nice place to hang out at the Loop mall after a movie or just about anytime. Good people, good food, albeit not for the health conscious, but in a pinch, it's definitely a better option among most fast food restaurants nearby. We'll be returning. read more

I was hesitant about posting this review because there is construction near Johnny Rockets in The Loop and this may be a contributing factor. However, the public needs to know. Yesterday my friend and I were shopping and decided to stop in for sandwiches. We sat near the kitchen. There was one server and the cook only. While waiting for our orders, a young lady came in and walked toward the kitchen. In less than a minute she served some parents their drinks. I mentioned to my friend that she didn't have time to wash her hands so she better not bring our food. As we continued to wait, my friend said, "OMG is that a roach?". Yes, it was and it was coming from the kitchen!! I told her I was not eating there and let's go! At that moment the male server came with the food. I told him "you all have roaches and I'm not eating here". He wasn't even fazed. My friend told him she would pay for her drink and he told her it was ok, "no charge". I am in Kissimmee for the weekend and decided to go to the movies and saw this cool burger place and thought I'd check it out. The vibes were really cool. Definitely gave early 60-70s diner vibes. My server trago was amazing. I stopped by first to ask if they offered impossible burgers and decided to sit and eat. The impossible burger was so good but I did it as a number 12 with pickles , onions, sauce and cheese and omg this burger oozed with flavor on my mouth. I also tried one of their special milkshakes. The crème de la crumb to be exact and it was so good. Definitely gave chip a hoy in a milkshake. My bf also ordered the rocket burger and said it was one of the best he ever had. A weekend ago hubby and I stopped in because the pizza place we wanted to go was closed and Johnny Rocket was next door. Atmosphere - Other than the music playing, it was pretty quiet. All of the booths were taken around the walls. We sat in the middle at a table. There is a 70's feel. I was at one in New Orleans, if iam correct, the waitresses and waiters were on roller skates. No fancy dancing at this location. Service - The waitress took too long to assist. She was pleasant but did not speak or engage. She was in the back most of the time saw her a few times waiting on other customers. Food- The food is very basic and over priced. Each item was separate. Burgers did not come with a side. I ordered a grilled chicken sandwich and a strawberry shake for hubby. I don't eat tomatoes so the sandwich had 1 slice of lettuce and mayonnaise this cost $9.99 if Iam correct. The shake was about $7 to $8. The shake was great. It is better than the competitions. The check was $19. Johnny rockets lacks luster. It's boring. If there was some excitement I may have not been disappointed in the food and annoyed by the prices. They need to create players the have sides. I could have used an onion on my sandwich and a pickle something to justify the $10 I paid. They need to do better revamp. The concept is great but it needs work. I was very excited to try the plant-based/vegan milkshake and loved the vanilla flavor. Honestly it was one of the best vegan milkshakes I've had in awhile. But when I got the bill I was a bit surprised to see it cost $11 (excluding tip). For a place that has burgers, fries, tater tots, and American comfort food, I wouldn't have expected to pay more than $10 for a drink. So there you have it, they have an excellent albeit pricey vegan dessert option, but there is yet to be a fully vegan burger or entree (currently their buns have egg according to the website). I have never been to a Johnny Rockets that I did not like. Their food, especially their burgers, reminds me of the ones mom used to make. They are always fresh, tender, and so juicy. They literally melt in your mouth. I never knew that beef could melt like ice-cream. Somehow Johnny Rockets has figured out the secret. You can tell that extra love is always put into their burgers. OK...We had a WONDERFUL experience at Johnny Rockets, but you will understand (I hope) once you get to the end of my review. Family was out running errands. We were craving a burger and thought we would give Johnny Rockets a try. We have done them years back but just don't see many around. It wasn't busy but they didn't have an overabundance of staff and so I was a little concerned about how things would go. Our server was EXCELLENT. I wished I could remember her name but very personable and made recommendations about menu items and such. We ordered burgers and fries and some sweet potato fries and my son ordered the cheesesteak sandwich (he is a sucker for those anywhere we go). Fries came out quickly and were hot and fresh and tasted great. A few minutes later our sandwiches came out and we were super excited because they looked great. We started enjoying our meals when my son discovered a hair in his sandwich. We aren't quick to complain but he tried pulling it out and it didn't come easily. He had to get onto it to yank it out (meaning it was well intertwined in the food). We called our server over to let her know. She was mortified and said she would get a new one made up right away. Got a new sandwich and everything was great. Everyone was pleased with their food and we were excited. Got a cookies-n-cream shake to split and everyone loved that too. So, we got the bill and they did NOTHING about the hair in the food. I may be old school and my expectations may be too high BUT when something goes that wrong with food...they should have comped it or at least taken a % off the bill. No word was said. No real apology other than initially. Like I said, I'm not one to make a fuss and cause a scene but Johnny Rockets has spoken (at least this one) in how they deal with food sent back. Apologize and charge you full price anyway. So we paid the bill, cut the tip a little shorter than we should have because we wanted to make a statement at some level. So...will we be back? Probably because the food was good and we can excuse it at a level. BUT, when it is suggested a long conversation will be had about whether or not we should because of "the hair" and the "lack of adjustment" to the bill. It is a fun environment with the jukeboxes and the "oldies" feel. If you are close, it is worth a stop but just watch for the extra hairs! read more

The staff was very friendly and attentive. They also weren't chintzy on the cheese for the cheese fries. However, I am still in shock over how much the food costs. It was $7.78 for two sodas; $7.59 for one cheese fries; and $10.99 for a single burger which was about 1/4-inch thick, over-cooked, and dry. The total for two sodas, one cheese fries, and one burger with a tip was a whopping $35.06. This burger was more like a burger I could get at Steak N Shake; and at Steak N Shake, you can get a single cheeseburger, fries, and drink meal for $6.59 there. I haven't been to Johnny Rockets in years since before this visit, and I don't remember them being this crazy expensive or the burgers so small. Unfortunately, at these prices, I have no intention of returning. read more
