Best pizza in town! Best NY pizza and Stromboli outside NY! I had read about this place in the journal when they were getting ready to open. "Read" is a power word these days with how reliant on AI and lazy the world has gotten. Get out and live! Anyhow.... I had ordered a Stromboli the first time I tried it and was kind of turned off with the price. I walk in the door and these were some of the friendliest people I've ever met. Unlike Sabaro, the Stromboli is fresh-made here. When I walked in, I was told it was almost up. In the time waiting, one of the owners brought out a fresh supreme pizza and offered everyone sitting down a piece. Little to say...it was one of the better pieces I've tried from around the country and definitely on par with what is offered in NY. For the Stromboli, this thing was huge and delicious. I fed 5 people with this $16 dish. The second time around I tried a small "Johnny's Special" pizza which came with 2 pieces sausage, 2 pieces buffalo, 2 pieces cheese, and 2 pieces hot honey and pepperoni. Usually I wolf things down like a dog, but for this.... I slowed down and savored each delicious piece. Awesome top flavor and perfect thin and crispy crust on the bottom. They also offer many other things including apps and desserts (cannoli/gelato). I will be back. I kindly ask that you save me a place when they open the outdoor patio space they are building. I hate giving reviews like this because I want to be greedy and keep all this goodness a secret. PS. Their shop has an awesome view of the mountains. Oh boy, oh boy: Johnny's Pizza is a great place. The nicest people and a space that's just right - and it'll be just perfection on that patio overlooking the Sandias as soon as the heat of summer backs off a bit. I went for lunch, which got busy toward 1130. I got a 10" meat lover's and figured it would be easy. Well, it was delicious, but they went so heavy on the (fantastic!) toppings that I couldn't finish it (and I'm a big eater, with the BMI to prove it). Great sauce, great crust (good rise, good chew, good blister), reasonable wait. Reasonable pricing turns out to be a real value price once you factor in the delicious taste and the fantastic quality. Folks, I've only been here once, but based on this visit, Johnny's might be my favorite pizza in town now. My friend got the value-priced lunch special combo and had them give him a chicken parm (solid) and green chile wings along with his drink. He was quite happy (we remarked about how it's amazing that folks from out of town can come in and create a green chile dish like this that genuinely pleases the old hands), but told me that he'd probably split the sandwich with his wife were he to do this combo again. And the whole time the owner kept checking on us (and everyone else) and offering pleasant conversation. Wow - what a treat! I am planning to return soon (even though we almost couldn't live further away and still be in Albuquerque), and this time I'll bring my wife. This place is legit. I waited until I went a few times before writing this review. Why? Because the first time I went I thought the pizza was slightly undercooked. The crust was just doughy and not browned much at all. I really liked the vibe. The people who work there were super nice. Not sure if she was the owner or not. But she acted like it and that was refreshing. I live near enough that it's easy for me to pop by. I've been back twice and had take out twice. Excellent every time!!!!! Now the Stromboli was also fantastic. It's made the way I like. Kind of what grew up on. But I also grew up on the best meatball and cheese sandwich ever. So, unfortunately I was not impressed with their meatball and cheese sandwich. This is honestly one of best pizza places in Albuquerque. Give it a try and get back to us. read more

Food was good for a reasonable price. Service was alright. They messed up our online order the remake took almost thirty mins. Me and my friend shared a 10"' pizza and we were both satisfied. First, I must state that I am Italian. I started cooking with my Nonna when I was about 10. I ordered a meatball Parm. I knew when I saw a meatball Parm on the menu instead of meatball sub. This is gonna be good. The place is nice inside. And the owners are very friendly. They have been doing this a very long time in New York. They use only the best ingredients. The bread is outstanding. The meatballs were outstanding. The sauce was outstanding and they use the best cheese if you know anything about good cheese,you know the difference. You can tell it's made with old-school Italian family love. I'm sorry but when I got home, I was so excited to eat my sandwich. I forgot to take a picture of it, but I guarantee I'll be back and when I was in there, picking up my sandwich. I saw some pies come out. Probably one of the best pizza I've had in Albuquerque. I'm a pizza snob and i rarely eat pizza outside instead making it at home (2-3 day ferment, cold proof, etc). Me and my family ordered takeout from Johnny's pizza this week. We ordered a 16 inch cheese pizza and a 16 inch pepperoni with half sausage. Ordered online through their website and went to pick it up. The place was packed and we walked right up and the pizzas had just come out of the oven. Service was quick and the restaurant looked very clean inside. Took the pizzas home and my kids loved them. First timers, definitely not last timers!! Johnny's has been around it seems but new to our part of town. First, the green chile cheesy bread .... That's a meal in itself!! Also had the Supreme (added green chile), had a pepperoni pizza and had a cheese pizza. Would order them all again! Reasonable prices too!! But here's the kicker .... Service out the kazoo!!! Must have had three or four different people ask if I had been taken care of, asked what was my name so they'd check for me .... And when our order came out, they checked it right then to make sure we had everything. Next time we'll try the sandwiches, Stromboli, desserts .... Thank you Johnnys!! read more

Really wanted to try the newly opened Johnny's Pizza, so today was the day! Placed an order for 2 large pizzas online, couldn't decide what to order? Ordered a pepperoni and green chile, did another large pizza, half white pizza, half margherita, and was able to add sausage to the Margherita side bc I saw a pic of their sausage and it looked amazing... Went in to pick up my order a little early, I really wanted to see their dessert and salad display. I ended up ordering the house salad, and a chocolate cannoli too, lol! Since this is a new place, I thought it would be a crime not to try maybe some more desserts, just for "research"? So....ordered the tiramisu and the limoncello cake too! Here's my review of everything I got... All desserts were delicious! Husband absolutely loved the cannoli, I was partial to the limoncello cake, so light and white chocolate shavings, such a great summer dessert! Tiramisu so delicious! Let's circle back to the salad and pizza.. House salad, beautiful, fresh and full of veggies and croutons, awesome! My first bite was the white pizza, which I think was a good thing to try first to really taste the crust? Loved it! I can only say is that when you taste it, you know? The crust/dough has that exact taste you want when you taste a REAL GOOD pizza. Now the white pizza was amazing, could eat it all day long. My son critiqued the pepperoni/green chile. He's not comparing this pizza to any chains. He's comparing them to personal/local pizzerias in the abq metro. Johnny's Pizza just went to the top of the list. So....it looks like I have a menu I need to dive deeper into next time? Super anxious to try the strombolis, especially after the white pizza. Omg, almost forgot about the wonderful sausage! Love those big delicious chunks, not those tiny little balls you sometimes get, what the heck is that? Sorry, when I get excited about a place, my review goes way long, but last but not least, I want to mention just how friendly and inviting the staff is at this place? Small family-owned company, everyone so inviting, GREAT customer service, informative and welcoming. If you go in to dine, just a warm and welcoming atmosphere! Apparently so, because I went home with a lot more than I ordered online? Very good pizza, half supreme, half white. Buffalo wings and Hatch green chile wings were so good. The Hatch green chile garlic knots were so good as well. Overall I think my family and I found our new favorite pizza place. We forgot to take pics tho. They were close to closing and still the service was excellent. They took care of us. Had it for this first time this evening. My son who lived in NYC, says it's the closest to NY pizza that he's had in NM. We ordered a large pepperoni, mushroom, and 1/2 green chile. It was tasty, not too hot (the green chile), but so good! Got a salad and it was fresh and a large portion for about $7.00. Service was quick and the pizza was hot when I arrived.
