We went to have dinner for my birthday and we had a party of seven. We started with a large pepperoni pizza as our appetizer and it was delicious. Everyone got something different. We had veal parmesan, egg plant parmesan, baked ziti, stuffed shells, chicken parmesan and spaghetti cabonara. All came with salad, pasta and bread. Everything was delicious and the server (Sabrina) was friendly and efficient. They even gave me a slice of chocolate cake on the house. i've been looking for an italian resistant that reminds me of the one i "left" back in Sunset Beach, California and i think ive found their twin out here in Albuquerque. great service! very pleasant and friendly, not too in your face, but also not too distant! i love the little plate of oil, herbs and balsamic vinegar (although i normally don't enjoy the balsamic) that came with the bread and little portion of "liquid" garlic butter. there USED to be a buffet, but it is no longer and honestly? good, that means less food wasted and the quality should stay high. that being said i've been here two times now and both times my food came out in an adequate amount of time, definitely not too fast and it wasn't too long either. the second time felt longer as i didn't get fried zucchini for an appetizer like i did the first time (which was amazing!! they were little discs and it was so cute) and i got the chicken parmigiana instead of the half size baked ziti i ordered the first time! both times my dishes were hot, but not burning. the bread the second time wasn't as warm as the first, but still delicious. the sauce tastes similar to what i tasted in the baked ziti so that's points for consistency!! my eyes are always bigger than my stomach so thankfully this portion is perfectly sized! i am used to getting two pieces of chicken in a pasta dish like this, but this is truly enough, it tastes good and i will finish my meal here. i don't mind leftovers but they're not my favorite, so anytime i am able to complete my meal AND feel satisfied, that's 5 stars for me. also the tiramisu? or Tira Mi Su, i should say, could use more lady fingers but my goodness that was the most perfect zabaglione i've had in a VERY long time!!!! this will definitely be a weekly spot for me read more

I grew up in San Francisco so I love this kind of old school Italian restaurant. there were a few types, the one you went with your family and the one you went to late at night. It was a sunday ritual to either go to to a Chinese restaurant or an italian place with my grandparents. It has the right vibe from the dark tones, to the Sinatra music to the gigantic menu. The servers are friendly and attentive. We had the chicken picatta and the veal parmagiana (yes veal; don't judge me). And both were flavorful and well cooked. The Parmagiana wasn' swimming in cheese and had a lovely sauce. They came with a choice of soup or salad and a huge side of pasta with a sauce similiar to the entree. Now, if this place was open at 2 in the morning in North Beach it would be perfect but you can't have everything... Great place! read more

So after many years of living in New Mexico (my whole life) I finally made plans to try Luigi's. The location is huge and a great location for company or team meals. Lots of seating with a buffet section in between (no more of that since Covid) but two options of soup are available. I ordered a glass of red wine it had been a long week. I was telling the wait staff I had never been before. The gentleman in the table next to me recommended the veal parmigiana said no one in town has it and it fabulous. I didn't order that though. I will say to start that the service was great and the place was super clean and the ambiance was right for the location. Prices appeared reasonable and Tina, mother of Luigi came and spoke to me. A beautiful Italian woman who helps make everything from scratch and mentioned they had been there for 27 years and that it was a steakhouse before that. They brought out bread and olive oil with spices. Maybe I'm not familiar with what good Italian olive oil taste like but it tasted kinda odd, it probably needed salt but I didn't add it and pretty settled putting the garlic butter that came with the bread on it. Bread also lacked salt but again maybe this is how it should be and I still ate it. I ordered a chicken dish with creamy mushroom sauce which came with a side of pasta and soup or salad. I was able to taste the soup prior while I waited for a friend to arrive and sorry didn't take a picture of the chicken. I thought it also lacked seasoning, don't get me wrong, it was good and I ate most of it till I was full. I think I'll return and order something different and hope to update this review. read more

So we just moved back into the neighborhood and have been discovering some local restaurants. We enjoy a nice Italian meal with all the extras. Luigi's has by far the best wait staff! Friendly and they remember you after a couple visits. I have tried a few different dishes on our visits. From Manicotti, chicken piccata and ravioli. They are all good but the ravioli is my favorite. Just the right amount of sauce over stuffed cheese pillows. My husband always orders the spaghetti with meat sauce and meatballs. He loves it and finds that it is always consistent. Needless to say, we have been in a few times and always love sitting in a booth and just enjoying conversation. The restaurant is simple and clean with really cute chandaleirs hanging from the ceiling. I love the size of the wine glasses and often order the chianti with my meal. The garden salad is simple but great alone as my husband likes it or with Italian dressing. You also get a few slices of bread and soft butter. All pair well with your main course! It is a regular stop of ours and we have not been disappointed. We feel welcome in the neighborhood! read more

Was in the mood for Italian so I found this restaurant. I wanted lasagna and what caught my attention was the chicken green chille lasagna. I was very surprised at how good this dish was. Gets pasta from Walmart Great value brand, lasagna is fresh. Doesn't date salad dressings, doesn't cover raw chicken in the walk in. Manager loves to drink on the job! Everything is frozen, even the desserts Will hold paychecks, Will just leave you in the dark after you get diagnosed with a medical condition, then cleared to work, then get told to retrieve your legal alcohol license, you then do so just for management to not let you for no reason! 0/10 place to eat, work for, even spend your money on! read more

I don't recommend the chicken Florentine or minestrone soup. The Florentine sauce was tasty but the chicken - horrible. The term "rubber chicken" would be an apt description. It was the toughest, most rubbery, least tasty I've ever had. Definitely overcooked. It was a slice, about 1/2 inch thick, not a whole breast. I ate less than half of it. Minestrone soup was watery. Service was prompt, no complaints there except no compensation for the bad chicken. I won't be back except maybe to order a pizza which I hear is very good. read more

I absolutely love this place. You have Nonna working in the kitchen - who will come out and say Hi. A north valley staple and a NM true Italian restaurant. The taste takes you Italy but also have some wonderful NM influence (Green Chile chicken lasagna). Every time for 20+ years I've been coming here, it's never disappointed. read more

I've been going to this restaurant for quite some time for takeout. I sat down for a meal with my colleagues and boy is this a candidate for kitchen impossible or restaurant impossible shows. There is not a lot of cleanliness & the bathroom stunk. There's literally a piece of gym equipment in the side room on your way to the bathroom. If you look around The place doesn't know whether it's formal dining or a sports bar. It is very messy and dirty so I can only imagine what the back kitchen looks like. As good as I thought the food was, we won't be coming back until it's cleaned up. The owner needs to watch restaurant impossible ...quite a few shows and get some hints. . The gigantic salad bar that is basically a room divider now needs to be removed in the whole place needs an upgrade. read more

Leaning seafood, but also feeling a little Italian, I decided to try Luigi's. On Friday evening, they offer a seafood buffet along with a few Italian dishes. I was greeted, seated and almost as soon as I sat down, bread & dipping sauce was served. The Amber Bock was ice cold. Salad bar had lots of variety and ingredients were fresh. My waiter, Raymond, was a real jokester and spot on with his service. He advised me that there was only one rule, which is, if you leave hungry, it's your own fault. So I attack the seafood, piling my plate with crab legs, boiled shrimp and clams. Quite tasty and the shrimp were not overcooked. The cocktail sauce could have used more horseradish. Now, the breaded shrimp and mozzarella sticks had too much breading, thick and not crispy. The pasta dish needed more sauce, but the ricotta was delish. My favorites were the crab legs, boiled shrimp and green-lipped mussels, but I have to admit, I really had to work hard to get that crab out of its shell. So, if you don't mind working for your dinner, have at it. Overall, it was good food with outstanding service. They do make you feel at home. read more

Luigi's is one of my favorite Italian spots. A little restaurant hidden in the north valley, we happened upon it one night and have been fans ever since! The buffet is my favorite. They have a fantastic salad bar with every vegetable you can think of and then some. You can request any basic pasta which they cook fresh and bring out to for you to add any sauces or protein from the buffet. They also make your slices with any topping you'd like... all of that for a great price and it's so good. We have been ordering pizza from Luigi's for at least 3 years almost every Friday night and have never had a bad experience with staff or owner. I'm shocked at the bad reviews. We have never eaten in. Always takeout and staff is always super friendly on the phone and at pick up. We love the pepperoni pizza. Way better than Dion's just saying... so give it a try sometime. Well I wasnt going to add a written review but since I recieved a wierd response from the owner I'll do a written review. So let me start off with I have been to this place before and I didn't care for it to much but my brother wanted to try it again. So I gave it a second try, let me start off by saying that the pizza was mediocre like a frozen pizza but not a good frozen pizza. Then I got my plate and was ready to get a salad. Well low and behold a long black hair right in the lettuce. I totally lost my appetite, I advised them about it and the removed the salad. You would think it would have been refilled with new lettuce but no it wasnt. How do I know? I saw the same wilted lettuce in there but the hair was missing. Well that's my review of this place. I will definitely not be going back to that place. One star for a delusional owner. Sorry boss, if you would have apologized it would have been all good. read more

This restaurant seemed odd for a buffet. The way the buffet works is you need to order with a server your food which can get annoying after a while. The buffet was only pasta and then you had a short self serve bar of sauces and salad. The place only had one server and then they had to get someone from the kitchen to serve once it got busy. Service wasn't fast, it was okay. The inside was outdated, the food was alright. Alfredo sauce didn't taste fresh at all. I'm definitely not coming back here again. read more
