We enjoyed our stop at Johnny's today. Our waitress Nautica greeted us with the greatest smile. I ordered the Shorty Shoreman Burger on a grilled Hogie bun that came with the greatest French Fries. Loved it!! Next visit if I can keep myself from ordering one of their great breakfasts, I'll ask that grilled onions be added to the sandwich. My wife enjoyed the Mushroom Burger and fries. Basic family diner. Lots of regulars. While the omelets are huge, they are also very dry and overcooked. Home fries totally undercooked. Hash browns - cubed- we're very good. Had one of the Benedict on prior visit - hollandaise awful - so lemony and too thick. Service is good - prompt and lots of coffee and water refills. Food comes pretty quick. Large parking lot. I stopped in for breakfast and the experience was rough from the start. After I got my water, the server said she would check back in a few minutes so I could look over the menu. Those "few minutes" turned into about 10 to 15. Another server even had to remind her about her own table, and she admitted she forgot because it was slow. The water had black specks floating in it. I didn't say anything, but it was not something you want to see when you sit down to eat. While I was trying to enjoy my meal, the servers were cleaning and dragging furniture around. It was loud and they said we're bored. I ordered 3 pieces of Canadian bacon and got 1 slice of ham instead. At that point it matched the rest of the experience. Make sure you are hungry! Huge portions! I got the veggie omelette. It was fluffy and very tasty. It had mushrooms, spinach, tomatoes, onions, green peppers, broccoli, and cheese. I chose Swiss. This use to be one of my husband and I favorite places to eat. The last time we were there, my husband ordered a breakfast and it was a typical breakfast. I ordered soup and sandwiche combo and the soup was okay (french onion), but the sandwich was a turkey sandwich. The waiteess asked me if rye bread was okay and Ii said that was fine. The sandwich came back on plain sandwich white bread and the turkey meat was this slimy rubbery meat with a piece of lettuce thrown on top. I couldn't eat the sandwich and the waitress said the cook changed the bread to white and she didn't know of the change. Our bill came to over $25.00 (with the 3.5 percent surcharge if uou use a credit card). My husband had coffee to drink and I always have water. They raised there prices so ridulously. So I ordered off door dash.. food arrived timely and was still warm. I ordered the wedge salad, no blue cheese, and extra tomatoes. The tomatoes were cut dice style. I substituted the blue cheese for Itilian and vinigar. It was a nice size wedge salad. Lettuce was fresh. Tomatoes were freshly cut. They were a little stingy on the onion. But I don't have any negative about that. It would be rather hard to mess up a wedge salad. But some people do. Next, I ordered a cup of chili and cheese on the side. This chili was definitely different. The meat was chopped up very, very small. It kinda gave off more of a soupy/creamy feeling dish. I don't believe it had any beans. I just didn't find it to really have any type of taste. Bland. Lastly. I order the ancour burger. I had them add a tomato and onion it only came with mushroom cheese and lettuce. The burger was cooked to my instructions. The taste.. the meat wasn't a special season. Just a burger cooked to the order. The burger came with season fries. The fries were good. It's Thanksgiving. Since it's just my Mom & I (usually) we go here quite a bit...to include last Thanksgiving. Have never had an issue and usually know what we want before we even walk through the door. For me, the Maria Waffle or a Skillet. Today, my daughter and grandkids came with us. Looking over the menu, no breakfast. Asked if the menu has changed. Angie, our waitress got an attitude right away and told us they were the lunch menus. She came back with different menus, handed them to us (over my mother's head) and snipped that anything on it was a $1 more since it was after 11. (Mind you, NO WHERE does it say that, online, on the menus, posted signs....no.) Her attitude though! My daughter and I looked at each other like "did that just happen?) Then we heard her complaining about us wanting breakfast to the kitchen staff. WTH?? I have loved in the area since 2012 and have passed by multiple times on my way to see my parents. Today I decided to stop. The parking lot was crowded and I thought it might be a wait. But the place was larger than I expected and I was seated quickly. Once in the booth it wasn't long before my server showed. A bit of quick pleasantries and my order was in. The place reminded me of an 1960s restaurant. Very clean and family oriented. The vibe screams family and good friends meet here. I order the godfather omelet. It was packed with mushrooms, spinach, and sausage. It came with a side of potatoes and toast. I choose rye because the bite goes well with breakfast. When the omelette arrived it was much bigger than I would imagine. Most of the meals are shareable definitely enough food for two. I'm usually not an egg fan, but I definitely would order it again. We stopped by on a Friday morning for breakfast during a recent Ohio family vacation in the Avon Lake area and were pleasantly surprised with the food and service at Johnny's Boathouse. My Mom enjoyed her two eggs, crispy hash browns and a delicious fresh fruit place - love when restaurants have blueberries and strawberries in their fruit (and not melons) its so much more healthier for you. It was hard to decide as they have a huge breakfast menu eggs, omelette's, scrambles. I went with the steak omelette - they asked me how I wanted my steak cooked, medium rare of course and the omelette with the steak, veggies and cheese was delicious. Our waitress was so friendly and accommodating. I even complimented the chef on the omelette - stop by Johnny's for a delicious breakfast in the Cleveland area. read more

The food is always good, as well as the service. I've eaten there several times and always left happy. The wait staff is well trained in the art of Service Recovery, handling issues promptly. Two issues lead me to score a four rather than a five. On one of my visits it was clear that the lettuce in my salad had been frozen and thawed (cooler issue?). The server replaced it immediately. The second issue was with their homemade rice pudding. The rice was undercooked. As I took it to go, there was no fix. I went for breakfast with my friend, an older lady with walking sticks, we sat for about an hour and a half and they were not busy had plenty of available tables, as I left to go to the bathroom the waitress ( Angie) came to the table and told my friend that she could have turned that table over and so she should leave a hundred percent tip. since when is it ok to bully someone into a bigger tip, she also lied and said we had been there a lot longer than we were and she wasnt able to leave until we were done. She however went to a table behind us after we left to wait on them. I called the manager after we left who said she was sorry and she would talk to this waitress. Very pleasant experience. Delicious breakfast- I had the spicy Luciano's omelet and my babe had the Crazy omelet. We were stuffed! Crispy hash browns, endless coffee and quiet. We came in for a quick dinner at 7pm and were seated right away. It wasn't busy and the waitress got our drinks right away. The poor waitress spilled one of the kids drinks all over the table. My husband got the worst of it in his crotch and my legs were drenched. Accidents happen, and she ran to get napkins, a rag and a mop. I'm not sure if that just frazzled her but after that service went downhill. Waited for refills. My husband won't eat unless he has something to drink. I had to take my daughter to the restroom and while in there our food came out. I was the only one who needed silverware for my food and we didn't have any. I had to take some from another table, no big deal it wasn't very busy. My toast didn't come out with my meal. My husband said the waitress said she would bring it right now. It never came out until I was finished with my meal and she was walking by asking if we needed a box. I know it was getting close to closing time but there was still other patrons and we all needed refills and the rest of my meal. Instead of making new toast I was brought the cold toast that was sitting in the back. I wasn't going to complain and still ate it. Just kind of felt like she should have tried to make it right for forgetting it. Got us all refills and brought the bill. I was a little shocked that no discount or comp was offered when my husband sat and ate with cold wet pants and myself with a sticky leg and foot inside my sandal portions didn't seem right for the prices of the meals and we all left not feeling fully satisfied. This place is kinda under the radar! I was here when they were Athena's restaurant. My boyfriend and decided we wanted to grab a Friday Breakfast. The menu has something for everyone. The prices are really good and you get a lot of food. The atmosphere is cozy with nautical theme throughout. The waitress we had was very polite and on top of everything. My boyfriend ordered the pancakes. He also ordered a biscuit and gravy. He said that everything was really good. I ordered the seafood omelette. The thing was huge, it was loaded with scallops, shrimp, and crab. I definitely would recommend it. It also came with toast and potatoes. Close to my house so I go here often. The food is actually quite good. Their soups are always delicious. However, the service is terrible! The women who work there are nice but really bad at being servers. There is only one server who does a good job but half the time she is running around trying to help everyone else' tables because the other girls disappear to the back. Go for the soup and omelette just don't expect water refills or butter if you forgot to ask for it when your food comes. read more
