We had dinner with some friends last week and everyone liked their food. The guys had their steak done med and med rare. Us girls had Chicken Madiera and salmon. The service was wonderful. The waitress Zanayah was professional but very sweet the guys kidded around with her a bit. And we told her what kind of wine we liked and she brought us just that. Service was spotty. Seated in a relatively empty restaurant next to a screaming child. We asked to be seated elsewhere and were told they have condensed seating and were required to fill this section first. So seating 0/5 our server though was amazing 5/5. Lot of tables and I can assume it gets crazy loud during top hours. It is pleasant inside though. The food was also a mix. Lobster Bisque wasn't the worst We've ever had, but close. Not a busque. Not a chowder. More like a heavy soup. Flavor was more imitation crab than Lobster. But like most bars nobody complains as they drink with their food. The Gnocci alla Vodka however was amazing. Best I've had in Ohio. The gnocci wasn't perfect, but the sauce was fabulous. Gritty, full of sausage and the bite of the vodka sauce was very reminiscent of a good bolognese. Bread was a poor choice for this meal. Pretzel bread is great for burgers and beer but not for delicate flavors. Miss there too. Low review for service and food. Stopped in for lunch and to pick up some bottles. They were out of the arancini app at 1pm, but were prepping more. They were also out of the cab zin and the blanc de blanc wines. Tip - pick up bottles on WE or TH for best selection as they are restocked. We sat at high top in bar and bar tender served us. She was friendly, prompt and helpful. She even went the extra to bring out the arancini when we were getting ready to leave. We tried Cooper's Hawk Pinot/Riesling blend, and it was just the perfect balance of acidity and fruity flavors. Hubby stayed loyal to his burgers and chose the Black & Blue Burger, cooked perfectly. Entrees also included 2 of the risotto selections, and one ordered the pork chops. Abundant portions of each. Everything was beautifully presented and delicious. Myself and parents gave Coopers Hawk a go for dinner a few days ago for our first visit. The parking was accommodating and it's quite a large restaurant with a gift, and wine type area upon entering. A separate bar area removed from the main dining space. The restaurant was staffed very well and everyone was working in harmony with the kitchen and patrons. Service was a comfortable pace and never felt rushed. The food was presented well and everything tasted great. The only drawback was the temperature...it was like a meat locker in there, very cold ! Other than that it's very welcoming place to dine. The entire staff was great and polite. This is on the list of returning places to dine. read more

Posting an update after our first visit... This trip we went on Thanksgiving. It was nice that they offered a traditional turkey dinner, but the full menu as well. We all had something from the reg menu. Started with the ahi sashimi & drunken shrimp, both excellent! For our entrees we had a surf & turf with filet medallions & grouper, braised short rib and soy ginger salmon. We were all pleased with our meals. Our server was so nice & efficient! This was a new-to-me spot recommended specifically for their Gnocchi brunch dish. When I came here for brunch with a friend we opted to not think too hard and went with the suggestion. It's the breakfast gnocchi carbenara and when I tell you it was delicious you just have to believe me. The only downside, to which my friend agreed, was that we wished it had more gnocchi than sausage. They didn't skimp on the meat but more gnocchi would've been preferred. Alongside that we had the pretzel bread and side of toast with jam. As someone who doesn't drink too often and likes any alcoholic drink on the sweeter side, I opted for the Rockstar mimosa (passionfruit) in honor of having the true brunch experience and it was very tasty - would recommend. Loved this so much last week, went with a friend for lunch on 11/13. So very good. I could wax poetic about the mashed potatoes. Who knew that mashed potatoes could be so very tasty? Our waiter was nice, offered suggestions and was not intrusive. The greeters were friendly and polite. The restaurant is clean and the noise level is great. My only complaint was that a glass of iced tea and glass of Diet Coke cost $4.99/each. When you are charging $19 for a lunch entree you shouldn't charge that much for soda and tea. read more

I went here on a Friday for lunch and it was my first time here! Our server was great when we said it was our first time dining in and allowed us to try a few samples of wine before ordering, along with giving descriptions for a few. We ordered a glass of the Cooper's Hawk Lux White Meritage and a glass of the Cooper's Hawk Lux Pinot Noir. The wine was spectacular and the server really helped us decide with the samplings. For our meal, we ordered the Classic Tomato Brushetta - we both don't like tomatoes (go figure!) but this was an amazing appetizer. It was light and delicious. The person I was with got the Chopped Wedge Salad and Lobster Bisque. It was a great mix and the perfect size for lunch! I got the Cooper's Hawk Chicken Giardiniera. I had a fabulous afternoon with family before the holidays and enjoyed both a wine tasting at the bar and a wonderful meal in the dining room. This location has the same cozy, but modern vibe all Copper's Hawk locations have and the fantastic service I have come to expect! Mike is fabulous and is able to recommend just the right wines for your palette, allowing you to sub different wines during your tasting to ensure you walk away with the perfect bottle! During our time in the dining room, Nate was our server and had the patience of a saint walking us through the menu and giving us ample time to decide on dishes while checking in on us with just the right amount of frequency. I was surprised how many tables had families with fairly young children on a Friday eve. All were well behaved. A full restaurant was rather noisy for conversation. I didn't even remember to take pictures of everything because my meal was so great, I only remembered to take a picture of dessert! This was my second visit and everything was even more delicious than before. We went for brunch. The candied bacon was the perfect texture, very thick and not flimsy (I requested it more well done). I went here on a date and it was really nice inside. It was very busy and the inside held a lot of people, but it was also very nice inside. Our server was very attentive and informative. As it was our first time eating there, he voluntarily explained the menu to us and the wine list and gave us his person. The food was pretty good. There were a lot of menu options but I ended up ordering the country rigatoni which was pretty good. My boyfriend got the gnocchi carbonara which he enjoyed very much. For dessert, we shared the salted caramel crème brûlée which was my favorite part of our meal. We also ordered the white wine flight to try which I loved. Our server also gave us complimentary blueberry wine for us to try and it was amazing. I might even buy a bottle of it next time I'm in the area! I would recommend Cooper's Hawk for a nicer dinner. They mosey around the standing room area awkwardly trying to find you... its extremely odd that an establishment this successful cannot get seating people down. The waitress was very kind and helpful as this was our first time dining here. They have a very extensive gluten free menu, which was wonderful and even brought out a warm gluten free bun in place of the complementary bread! I got the Gnocchi ala vodka and it was amazing! My husband got the pistachio crusted grouper which he really enjoyed as well. I went with the Red Flight for my drink because I wanted to try different wines they offer and they were all very good. We laughed because we ordered the chocolate truffle for dessert to share and it was a single truffle! The atmosphere wasn't quite as private as I would have hoped for, the tables are pretty close together but thankfully we made reservations and requested a booth. Unfortunately not the best experience. Came here to celebrate by best friends birthday with a large group of women. Service started fine but was quickly derailed when our server quite literally bolted mid sentence while taking our drink orders and NEVER came back. We tried multiple times to get the attention of other servers. After 20min we had to go to the host station. After another 10min a manager came by to say she had an emergency and he took our drink order. Never offered ANYTHING to help make up for the situation. No drinks, appetizers or discount. I've worked in the service industry for a long time and was very disappointed by how it was all handled. Took quite some time to get a new server and unfortunately the damage was done at that point. Call it tariffs, or inflation, but portion size is abysmal versus cost, and it's no place for a conversation with the bad acoustics from the time you walk in to the time you walk out.. More than $30 for short ribs and you get a whopping TWO pieces on the plate. Ahi tuna was thinly sliced, so while it looked like the plate was full, the portions didn't match that cost either. Will say that the flavor was great on that dish though. At least there was a free loaf of pretzel bread to fill up on. BTW, bisque had too many ingredients, but none with distinguishing flavor, so it would. Up bring bland. All in all, it's a pass, even as a more upscale chain. You just expect more. No upcharge for credit cards is refreshing in this day and age, but I'd pay the upcharge for more portion and better quality. Spend your money and evening out somewhere else. read more

We ordered an appetizer, two salads and a soup and salad combo. Took a while but my wife's and my daughter's salad finally came. No idea where my soup and salad was. Roughly 20 minutes later, my order arrived. The soup was warm but unfortunately so was the salad. Wilted, warm and limp. Seems like our waiter,Vito, was more concerned with his other tables. He even got lost when we paid the check. I had to meet him on the way out the door. $85.00 for 3 salads and some soup with no beverages besides water seemed a bit high to me but ok. What bothered me was how my wife and daughter were done eating before my food even arrive, and the sad condition it was in. Plus the fact we had to hunt down our waiter. The 4-5 people behind the hostess stand were very unfriendly and unwelcoming. We had a reservation today at 2pm so I gave my name and asked to purchase a gift card while we waited. The hostess pointed in the general direction of the wine tasting area and said we could get it over there and turned away from me. I walked over there and no one was able to help me - one girl wouldn't even look up at me and just said she would be with me soon. I walked away. We were seated quickly considering we were 20 minutes early and our waiter Nate was so incredibly nice, outgoing and very knowledgeable and helpful. Our cocktails were amazing and arrived quickly. I got the wedge salad which was incredible, my only critique would be it had too much dressing, but otherwise it was one of the best wedge salads I've ever had. My husband got the seafood bisque which was equally as good. Our meals came very fast - too fast. I only had my salad maybe 5 minutes and the meal came which was a little frustrating, but not the end of the world . I got the short rib gnocchi and my husband got the vodka gnocchi and both were really good. We will definitely be back, the service was spot on and food very good. I get it like this every time she didn't explain saying because of the glaze that is on there, they cannot darken it with that is not true because I eat it like this all the time so that got sent back. My boyfriend ordered the salad without bacon because we do not eat pork. The salad came out with the bacon. We waited a long time to get our food back when we did get our food back for some reason, they took the tomatoes off of his salad as well at that point we just wanted to eat and leave we even asked the waitress do you know why they took the tomatoes off? She replied The Cook that is here. That day is not the best cook. He always makes mistakes if she would've noticed, she would have said something she didn't notice and it sounds weird, but the water taste it like sewer, and the bread was extremely hard majority time I sit at the bar Often in the (beachwood) Pepperpike area. I've been to this one, probably four times this overall was the most horrible experience I had it was not crowded. A manager never came out to apologize. I've been to several locations and never had a bad meal or bad service. This is no exception. Please keep in mind that they literally JUST opened less than 2 months ago. Also, a reminder that a restaurant "seeming" short staffed isn't a good reason for a bad review, especially if you had great service and your food was made well. The staff is always wonderful, from the host stand to the servers, the kitchen and the management. If you are coming here for a quick 30 minute in and out, go elsewhere and save this for when you have the time to enjoy it. Cooper's Hawk is intended to be a slow paced experience, where you enjoy each course with plenty of time in between to also enjoy the company you're with. Almost like a throwback to the time when families would sit around the table to talk for hours - to savor the moments and the flavors of a good meal. Yes, the bar gets backed up. They are also a winery and sometimes people go JUST for the wines/bar. Their cocktails are hand made and not pre-mixed. You can have quality or quickness. I'll gladly wait on quality. The food has always been phenomenal, with some of my personal favorites being the potstickers and flatbreads for appetizers and then the gnocchi (any of them) and the short ribs for a lunch or dinner entree. Today I got the shrimp scampi and it was perfectly done. Oh, and those donuts at Saturday brunch are for sure worth a cheat day. Make sure you don't skip on the pretzel bread, and of course the wines (my favorite is the Sparkling Almond or the Cooper's Hawk Merlot and Cabernet). read more
