Attractive old-style diner, friendly, attentive service and good food who could ask for more?

This was my first time visiting Johnny's diner and I'm glad I did. The decor looks like a 50s diner very well done with a lot of cool things on the walls and around the diner. My waitress was very sweet and attentive and was a pleasure to speak with. I ordered the buckeye skillet. It came out really quick and was very hot and tasty. The base of the skillet is a biscuit with sausage gravy, which were surprisingly good for being in Northeast Ohio. I liked everything about it except that I always order my hashbrowns crispy crispy and the ones that I got were soggy. Johnny's serves up a good cup of coffee, a nice dark strong cup of coffee. I'll definitely be back again. I will bring my wife and friends. I looked at their menu and they look to have an authentic Philly cheesesteak made with cheese whiz. I'll have to try it next time. Overall, a good experience I would recommend Johnny to anybody wanting a good bite to eat at a fair price. read more

We were just here for the weekend but visited this place for two mornings in a row for breakfast because it was just delicious. Adorable diner! They just need a jukebox and it would feel like something out of Happy Days. The establishment was clean and the condiments were filled at each table. The wait staff stayed busy checking on guests, straightening up, and re-filling coffee cups. The breakfast sandwich (sausage, egg, and cheese) was incredible and the pancakes reminded me of Waffle House waffles (that is a compliment!!). read more

Stopped in for breakfast before heading back home. The place was packed but we were seated quickly. I ordered a 2 egg veggie omelet which was loaded with goodies. The hashbrowns were the best I have ever had. I requested mushrooms and onions. My boyfriend ordered the Meat Lovers Omelet with order of hashbrowns with double onions. He thought the same as me.....AMAZING!! We chatted with Johnny for a bit. Had to let him know how much we love his food and his staff was great, too! We stopped at Johnny's Diner a week ago for lunch. The service was absolutely incredible. Michelle (sp!) was ours and she gave us all the attention we needed even tho the place was 3/4 full. Friendly and efficient and right there when we needed her. Hubs had the beef Reuben and it was big and fat and extremely tasty. It was moist and seasoned just right. I had the south Jersey cheesesteak. It was good and full of beef with the cheese melted just right. Mushrooms were the perfect touch and the bun was soft and delicious. It's got a 50's diner look and was very comfortable. People were enjoying their food and socializing and we will go back again. It's in a strip mall/shopping center and parking was easy. read more

I ordered the corned beef hash breakfast meal with a coffee but there was only a pinch of corned beef. I couldn't even find it right away. For $20 I won't be coming back. They needed to triple the amount of beef...at least. Was never asked how my meal was. I was thinking of trying this place out for lunch also but not with the stingy amount of meat provided. Very small portions and overpriced. One breakfast and a hot roast beef sandwich $51 before tip and with no beverages. The beef used for the hot roast beef was essentially cold cuts that were heated up. Will not be returning, simply an underwhelming experience overall. read more

What a great place and little piece of Americana. The wait staff is very friendly, kind and caring. The owner is very personable, friendly, upfront and patriotic. All the paraphernalia inside the place gives it a really cool vibe. What grabbed us to go in, the thin blue line flag in the door as remembering those who protect and serve and have fallen is a necessary Honor we all need to be aware of. Johnny's was average. Daughter had a quiche that she liked. Wife had a spinach omelette. I had, of course, a biscuits and gravy skillet, Kid thought that the quiche was good, (if she eats it, it's good...) wife said that the spinach when Swiss omelette was good. There was no raving, no fanfare. Most importantly, there were no tears from me. Average food service food from an average place with average service. You could do worse. read more

I am fence sitting here between 3 and 4, but will lean to 4 at the moment. The place is really nice on the inside. Very 50's motif with a counter and stools as well as the booths and tables. Full line of Breakfast (served all day) and lunch and dinner. The waitress was great. Very attentive and friendly. The food was great (for the most part). Corned-beef Hash is made on site and tasted really good. Not too much potato to ruin it. Very well seasoned. The home fries were great as well. Most places they are bland but these were well seasoned. Wife had caramel apple french toast. The apple was freshly diced, not the pie filling junk. Carmel was warm and drizzled over the whipped cream. We also got a side of biscuits and gravy. This was a fail in our books. Homemade gravy is not really hard, especially if you are frying bacon and or sausage. The powder junk just tastes bad. So that went to the dumpster. So my only issue really was the over all price. Hash with eggs and toast, French Toast and biscuits and gravy was around $25. I do want to go back though for their dinner / lunch options and will reconsider at that point. read more

What an amazing place! Just so happened to be hungry after an appointment nearby. Friendly, as soon as you walk in. They acknowledge customers, as they walk in. Love the historical interior diner decor. Reminded me of the Corvette Diner. The menu has a great selection. The food is delicious! This is what "diners" are all about. The small town feel, where they treat you as family! The last review of one star due to Chief Wahoo is ridiculous. Do you know the family, who is part of the Chief Wahoo, is proud of him?! I am part Native American, and am proud of Chief Wahoo. People need to stop being so judgmental. We need to embrace every positive aspect of history. Find out the story behind something, before you jump on a blind bandwagon. read more

This diner made for such a perfect Sunday late breakfast! With everything going on right now, they made it feel like things were back to normal while still practicing all the safety measures due to Covid, including plastic separations between tables, not seating tables near each other, and keeping everything super clean and sterile. Service was honestly some of the best I've had, Covid or not - incredibly nice, warm, and skilled servers. The food was also amazing and exactly what I was looking for on a Sunday morning. We were in the area for a basketball tournament and kids were hungry. When you find a diner, you know its going to be good. This is truly a diner atmosphere. Great team working today! The menu has everything you could want and more. Breakfast all day too! Big fluffy pancakes and amazing bacon (slices there from what I was told). The beef dip sandwich...mouthwatering!!! That is also made fresh and you can absolutely tell! I could have eaten 2, not because it was small, it was packed with meat it was just so good!!! Not many times I give 5 stars! However just walking in nice greeting and great atmosphere.. even though in a mall.. after walking in looks and feels like an old dinner. All the way down to the kinda waitresses. They worked together in making sure each table was covered.. The food was fresh and warm, took a little time, but what to expect with fresh food! I came to town to visit a friend - and I have to say that HANDS DOWN this is such a good home-cooked food diner. A lot of things are actually prepared instead of out of a can. The biscuits and gravy were really good, and the waitress "Karen" was SOOOO SWEET! You won't find nicer people, especially at local home town restaurants. read more
