An amazing Wednesday celebration for our company's 7th birthday at Jakes. The appetizer of chili con carne with cheese and onions was perfect. This was followed by a feast of cajun seasoned Barramundi on wild rice with asparagus. Great little diner in a great little town! Breakfast is great, burgers are great and you'll love their pies!

Wife and decided to search out new places for breakfast. We stumbled upon a winner, Jakes Eats in Mantua. The place packed and only one waitress. Even so she did a great job of taking of everyone in short order. I had the Corned Beef Hash with eggs and english muffin. The food was hot and tasty. My wife had the biscuit half with gravy. Again a good choice. My wife commented she like the dishes, Fiesta Ware made a couple hours away in Newell West Virginia. Thanks for buying American. We will be back. read more

Friendly, responsible prices , my burger was big and juicy lettuce, onion, pickle, and tomato with your choice of cheese. French fries adorn the plate was very good.. got there a little after lunch. I was served right away clean older building but very nice. read more

Decent food at a reasonable price with friendly owners. We're turning into regulars, and I'm addicted to their zucchini fries. It's a good go-to for a casual I-don't-wanna-cook kind of night. Only one complaint, but it's not enough to dock a star, IMO. The fries melt the styrofoam to-go boxes when they're fresh out of the fryer. I'd love different boxes or maybe a protective layer for the dishes with hot oil. read more

Wow another amazing find! Doing laundry up the road and find this place. We had some Hungarian dish with chicken and dumplings and it was delicious. The place is clean..the waitress was all alone handing the bar and tables and did great job. Highly recommend. read more

Tried Jakes for the first time for the Fish fry they have on Friday during lent. All I can say is the chef must be scared to season his food because the French fries were wilted, soft and not a spec of seasoning or even salt. The Tartar sauce was , so so. The Fish was NOT seasoned and no crunch at all, it was simply BLAND, breaded, kind of like If you were feeding your 95 year old mother with no teeth and no taste. The cole slaw was outstanding, very good on that one item. Chef needs to season his food, nothing special here... price was fair for food. The service seemed very good, but JUST NO Taste! Great little food joint. The service was fast, the workers were friendly, the prices were unbeatable! Egg and cheese omelette with hash browns and toast was only $1.99 for kids! That alone made this place awesome! I ordered the western omelette and my wife ordered a pancake. The quality of the food was fine and it tasted good. Definitely better than any of the typical breakfast diner chains. Overall the place was fine. We were traveling through the area and found this to be the best place around where we are camping. read more

Nice little hometown establishment. Went after mass on Sunday so it was understandably crowded. Parking was a challenge and the sloped lot could use some work. It didn't help that it was raining and I was wearing sandals. Staff was friendly. Food was decent. Only complain was the omelet my husband ordered and the mini Jake's plate I ordered could use more cheese. It was pretty sparse. Some seasoning on the Jake's plate would be a plus. Nice portions for the cost. Overall, a good experience and would go back again. read more

Just a few minutes off of I-80, Jake's is a great little place to stop for a bite to eat. I had the BBQ sandwich special with homemade chips and coleslaw. My husband had the patty melt with fries. This is the worst service I've ever seen and I'm not joking. We asked the waiter if they have a good old fashioned and he said no. Then shrugged his shoulders. Oh Jake's. Your biscuits & gravy is so awesome! I do not live in the area, nor even on this side of the country. I've been to many many diners across the country when craving a nice (un)healthy serving of country gravy to start the day right. Most times what I find out there is okay at best and dreadful at its worst. My own country gravy is awesome and I suck as a chef. So why do so many restaurants fail to make a good country gravy? Now in comes Jake's. They make an awesome country gravy that has that simple crumbled sausage and black pepper flavor combo. Seriously, it's the absolute best. They do it so well, and I always leave both incredibly satisfied and sad that I don't live closer. I've even tried other diners recommended as having great country gravy, such as Bob Evans and Cracker Barrel. Both pale in comparison to Jake's. Jake's raises the bar and should be considered the gold standard. To lightly touch on other things, I've always loved their service, atmosphere, coffee, and obviously the people of Mantua. When visiting the in-laws, I always stress the importance of visiting this place each time. Thanks Jake's for being so amazing. I'll see you all again soon. read more

Reminder of my childhood. I live in the area, but not in the town it's self. The town is extremely small and holds in it where I went to school. The town is deteriorating and doesn't have a lot of appeal. The business' are antiquated and remind you of a time long forgotten. The food it's self though is amazing, as all the food is in mantua. Going there just makes you sad. The town has so much potential, but everyone can't wait to leave. As for the restaurant itself. The food is fantastic. Especially at millers/jakes. I know several people who work here. The burgers are cooked just how you like them, the fish fry feels like they pulled it out of the river(not a knock on it) and the prime rib is amazing. Sadly this is only of the many small towns relics that are being swept up in today's modern society. read more

I haven't been to Jake's for quite sometime. I was quite happy this morning. The waitress approached me as soon as I selected my table, to take my drink order. I selected the prime rib special. I received my food and to my delight there were eggs and potatoes that came with the special. I normally do not select prime ribs due to tasting like fat; but, because this was grilled it was perfect, excellently cooked. The waitress refilled coffee! We will be coming back! read more

We ate dinner here once and it was decent, but we won't be back. It's a small town restaurant, so there aren't too many vegetarian options, but we were pleasantly surprised that they had a black bean burger.
