Disclosures said to "put a bucket" under the leaks in heavy rain. Started talking to roofers, and some tried and failed (still needed a bucket), but one said it was the chimney not the roof. Jeff came by, inspected, and recommended that the mortar between bricks (eaten away over time by the elements and covered in moss, hint) had to be sanded down and redone. Jeff did that, replaced the chimney cap, and even sealed all around the interface between the chimney and roof. The heavy rains of Dec '21 came and went without a drop. Perfection. The quote for the work I decided to do was similar / less than another company I looked at and Mr Chimney seemed like a far more professional company in terms of communication, presenting options, estimate, etc. Their office seems understaffed (maybe just 1 person working there?), but Erica is super nice and sent the estimate and scheduled the job...best to call her because they must be overwhelmed with email and I didn't get a response to email. The day of the work, the workers came on time, were super nice and explained everything and answered all my questions. They were supposed to do a number of repairs including fix my damper. They unfortunately said the damper couldn't be fixed but they were able to close it and I don't plan to use the fireplace, so they removed the charge whereas other companies might have charged me just for getting it to move enough to close fully or tried to talk me into replacing it. They simply presented the options and their costs and said I could decide later if I decide to use the fireplace. The workers were neat and clean, worked efficiently, and the chimney looks brand new after their repairs. After the work, I was cleaning leaves out of my gutters, and thought I saw some cement dust that had blown into the gutters during the work and was worried it could turn to cement in the rain and clog my gutters. I called Martin and he sent his workers back the next day to clean it up. He told me actually it was not cement dust but some debris from the roof but his team kindly cleaned it out anyway to assuage my concern-- truly old fashioned customer-centered values which is rare in this day and age. First, the counters are large (the island is about 13' x 5') and required seams in obvious places. Second, we wanted to match an earlier, somewhat unusual edge profile. Manuel worked carefully and patiently with us to achieve the best layout, and the installation crew were master artisans (one has been with Sticks-N-Stones for 30 years). The bookmatch on the island is beautifully done; most visitors assume it's all one piece, because the long seam in the middle is so well crafted.
