I LOVE this place! I've been so many times thru the years and it never disappoints. Ive had birthday nights there, had dinner & drinks, watched football games and played trivia. There's something going on all the time. And although its known as the cougar bar, weekend nights are a good mix of younger people. DJ is on point. The food is good for bar food and to share with friends, and the staff is great!! Always friendly and interactive bartenders and attentive servers. Johnnys is my go-to spot when I have family visiting from up north. I love this spot. So fun, and we are always well treated by the employees! Going again this weekend most likely ;) One thing I will like to add as just some feedback, the last time I went around Christmas, the women's bathroom sink was scorching hot as soon as the handles were turned. I usually always have a good time. Worst parts prolly the bald guy at the entrance... there's barely people in the bar but he won't let ANYONE in, even as 20+ people are leaving still makes us wait like 5 min before the next 2 people can enter. Like do u want us to leave ??? We usually pay $30 to skip the line but we thought why not save some money the line is short right now... nope waited for what seemed like forever at the front of the line When we're finally inside it's crowded af. Came here for a bachelorette party. Waiting staff was amazing. Drinks and food was good. However if you plan on having fun besides sitting down then this place is not for you. Security was really rude and they incredibly rough for no reason. Also no video or pictures on the dance floor! Total buzz kill of the night. We paid our tab and left. Went to Johnny's Hideaway last night with a gaggle of friends i convinced to come with me and we had a blast! Due to outrageous prices of uber, i am so thankful they have valet thats only $5 ( but pls add tip bc service industry team deserves it) i love that the DJ played 80s & 90s! The atmosphere was so fun but the best part was the service by Janette. She was absolutely amazing remembering a table of 6 people's orders and always checking on us. i also loved the cheese sticks that helped me keep going! the kitchen is open till 2 am. I will say i do wish the cover was a bit less ( cover is $10 both friday and saturday) or that it would only start at 10 pm or something lol. also they also charge for water so both of these are the reasons for 4 stars and not five! but janette alone gets 5 stars from all of us! i recommend coming here on a night youre not budgeting for a great night of dancing & fun. read more

Johnny's Hideaway is always a fun time! It's a classic bar in Buckhead that has been an Atlanta staple for many years. Yes, sometimes there's a long line and cover charge but it's worth visiting at least once. My friends and I have been to Johnny's many times and it's like being transported back into a time machine. They mostly play 60s-80s music, which is a lot of fun and the crowd ranges from all ages. The DJ always plays my song requests, I appreciate that. A bit crowded but they run a good op and the music is what I wanna hear beings that I'm a pretty old man. The 70s and 80s were my high school and college years. I miss them greatly and I just wanna "go back" once in awhile. I just have to escape back. And to the lady that complained about the 3 gals not being able to pay an $18 tab, why didn't you volunteer to pay it since you said you witnessed the whole incident?? I would have paid it. Love the 70s decor. The people in this venue are weird. Call girls who are bearly dressed in tank tops or a bra. I guess the dress code doesn't apply to them. The men with these women are like 20-30 years older. It's like where men go to cheat on their wives. Strange! Dance floor is great, but you defiantly feel watched from all the men staring. I've been here a few times over the years of living in Atlanta. Its pretty consistent old school music and a mixed crowd. They serve food and drinks pretty late which is nice because if you drank too much, you can still get a meal before leaving. There is always a line and entry is $10 unless you pay $40 to skip the line. The biggest con is there arent enough servers to accommodate the crowd. read more

My friends celebrated their 30th birthday here and everybody had a great time! Definitely not your typical Buckhead scene, but I dig it. Our party arrived around 8pm on a Saturday night. No cover charge or line then. However, a line started forming at about 10pm and they charge a $10 cover, $20 if you want to skip the line. Valet only for $5. We had tables reserved for a party of 20. Since they do not take separate checks, splitting a tab of 20 was not fun to say the least. They will however, take multiple cards. There's also a two-order minimum if you get a table. The majority of our party ordered food and at least one drink, so that part wasn't an issue. I ordered the shrimp plate (grilled) with broccoli for $9. The food was actually decent. I wasn't a fan of the smoking inside, but it was tolerable for the night. Clearly, since I only knocked off one star. The DJ played 70s to top 40 hits, which I really enjoyed. My friends, their parents, and I all got on the dance floor a few times. I would definitely return. read more

Johnny's is such a vibe for laughs and a good time! The staff is pretty friendly but can be overwhelmed with how many people attend at times so short and to the point some times is not rude. The food serves its purpose and is decent but you can't expect a Ruth Chris kind of meal if you're one of them‍ Food is ok though. One can always come in for a drink and enjoy the tunes from the 40's to the 2000's. It's a joy for every age. The bar staff is knowledgeable and so quick. There is a wide selection of beverages for all. I love the rounded bar areas and seating. The lighting and decor is so classic and almost takes you back in time. It is so classy inside and timeless. Getting a table is not too difficult, but it does get packed out quick so be aware of possibly waiting outside to get in and planning seating if any accordingly. My trip to Johnny's reminded me why I should venture out by myself sometimes. They have a public lot, I ubered there anticipating my partially inebriated departure (I was correct). There is security at the door to card and crowd control. The bar is dimly lit, two circular bars on the left hand side, seating on either side of the dance floor on the right hand side. There is cigarette smoking allowed, however when I went there were only a couple smokers in sight. I arrived a little after 8:15 on a Wednesday (Ladies' night on Wed from 7:30-8:30, 1 free drink), I sat at the first bar, surveyed the area, and made my judgements. Long story short.... FOOD: Only a couple veggie options, I ended up downing fried ravioli. Bar food MUSIC: It started off 70s pop and progressed as the night went on. I don't think we ever got to the 2000s, but the tunes that were played were feel good classics everyone could bop to. DRINKS: Great pours. No signature drinks or crafty cocktails, but GREAT pours. Anything else I really need to say? SERVICE: By far the best part of my night. Mike was the shiznit. Again, I came by myself. He immediately greeted me, gave me a run down of the menu/drinks, and was very patient while I asked (multiple) questions. I told him that I came by myself and he made sure to check on me intermittently and make sure I was okay, whether my drink was full or not. They were worried that we were getting there too early because it was only 9 PM but the place was absolutely packed, no tables available. This place is so much fun and they play the kind of music that I like. We ordered drinks and danced literally three hours straight. The music never stops and every song takes you back to the 70s 80s or 90s. We ended up leaving around 11:30 and the line was 50 to 75 people deep. Aside from the smoking allowed inside, this place is absolutely awesome!! I went on a Sunday night and I was surprised to see it so packed. There was a live cover band playing and they were playing some awesome tunes. The dance floor was packed - so you know the music was good. The ambiance takes you back to what feels like an Austin Powers movie. Velvet seats and a disco ball over the dance floor. They also make some pretty stiff drinks! Johnny's Hideaway is a pathetic excuse for a dump with the most rude, abusive doormen and bouncers that have ever walked the earth. They get physical and violent at the drop of a hat LITERALLY! They make verbal sexual insults to women, they act like school yard bullies to anyone who questions them about anything! We walked in with a large party of 20 and instantly start getting rude harassment at the door and the doormen and bouncers think they can all rub up against the women and are not the least bit polite to any of their customers! It was Halloween weekend and many people were wearing hats, but the rude door staff thinks they can decide who can and who can not wear a hat. The coat man when asked to show ID said it was OK to wear a hat tonight as it was a Halloween party. I have never been treated with so much rudeness, physical violence and have never seen employees so full of hate for fellow mankind. Then, they want to hold on to 1 person's credit card to charge the entire large groups bill on and add whatever tip they choose to your credit card and leave that 1 person to be bill collector from all their friends in the large party. That alone is reason to not ever go there. If a group wants separate bills they should do that and add in a tip for the large party, but still everyone pays their own bill. Nobody want to put 20 people's food and drinks and open ended tip on their personal credit card. Very bad manners there JH! Also, the dress code rules are NOT equally enforced, not even close. They let some people slide and some people they just harass and physically throw them out with violence and no tact. I asked one of the bouncers what his name was and he said "My name is Jesus and I'm going to f*@k you up a**hole!" Bouncer then used a violent Choke Hold on me till I was out the door. Also, I had not even had 1 drink and I was NEVER aggressive in any way whatsoever while there. The doormen and bouncers had no right to even touch me. This physical violent attack on me was witnessed by my wife and friends. They just act like they work for the Mafia and that they have no regard for the proper rules of conduct in society. None of them would say what their name was when asked and they just throw people out for no reason other than asking a question of equal application of their rules to all patrons. I have read many other reviews that date from current to many years back talking about the physical violence and filthy abusive yelling that is done by the door staff and bouncers. That adds up to a pattern of severe problems of abuse to patrons by door staff at JH. If you love yourself, love your wife and friends NEVER EVER step foot into Johnny's Hideaway. They should be shut down! The door staff and bouncers there are so full of physical violence, hateful sexual insults towards women and threats of beating up people that they should be put into jail! There is no place in a civilized society to tolerate people like that. Furthermore, for JH to employ and encourage this type of behavior from its door staff and bouncers is totally unacceptable. They deserve a rating of NEGATIVE 10 STARS and the door staff and bouncers work hard every day to earn that NEGATIVE 10 STARS! FYI: What Are Bouncers Legally Allowed to Do? Many people have misconceptions about what bouncers are legally allowed to do. Contrary to popular belief and the way they are portrayed in the media, bouncers are not free to engage in excessive force or violence as they see fit. Generally speaking, bouncers can only use force if it is first used against them. These are the same rights as any ordinary citizen (i.e. the right to self-defense). On the other hand, bouncers are legally allowed to perform such tasks as: Issue verbal warnings Ask you to leave Check for ID Refuse entry if the patron is too intoxicated, fails to comply with establishment policies, or engages in aggressive behavior Call the police Protect innocent bystanders from violence Break up fights that are not involved in Respond with equal force if necessary Most bouncers are trained to remedy situations through verbal communication rather than physical force. Often times their presence alone is enough to deter patrons from aggressive behavior. What Are Bouncers NOT Entitled to Do? Bouncers are not entitled to engage in the use of force unless they are first threatened with physical harm. Thus, unless they are approached with physical threats of harm, bouncers are not entitled to: Strike a patron with a punch or kick Push or physically throw a person out of the establishment Restrain them in "chokeholds", "joint locks", or other techniques Use weapons or pepper spray In other words, bouncers are simply ordinary persons who are subject to both criminal laws as well as civil personal injury laws.
