What can I say bad about Johnnys Pizza Boss. Absolutely nothing. Ordered online they even came a little early. As I'm writing this review my food is still in the works. I'm finished eating already. Pizza was like any other Deer Park pizza what's sets them apart is the attention to detail. I asked for Greek Salad without onions and they actually listened. More than I can say about other pizza places in the area. They also left some plates and napkins with a smiley face on the bag.

Margarita pizza. Please tell my you see the dryness.

This place has changed hands a couple of times. And the pizza changed with it. They make a good pie. We like it crunchy with toppings occasionally but these new owners are doing it well. Other places in the area are well overpriced and do not deliver the product Johnnie's does.

Penne all Vodka slice and Garlic Knots: both somewhat disappointing.

Cheese Pizza is too thin. Cheese falls off. Lots of flop. 5.8. Now, Sicilian is 7.4. Take advantage of their specials.

Original owners are back, food is awesome now! Best pizza around! You can even microwave the leftovers and the crust doesn't get all gross!

Whether you're popping in for a quick slice or settling in for a full sit-down dinner, Mama's consistently delivers -- and then some. Let's start with the basics: the grandma pizza is exceptional. Thick, pillowy, perfectly crisped on the bottom with a rich, flavorful sauce -- it's everything a grandma pie should be. But don't stop there. The chicken parm hero is, without exaggeration, one of the best you'll find on Long Island. Generous, satisfying, and packed with flavor, it's the kind of sandwich that makes you close your eyes on the first bite. For those seeking something more elevated, the chicken francese is a standout -- light, lemony, and beautifully balanced. And the Bolognese sauce is a slow-simmered masterpiece, rich and deeply savory, the kind that makes you want to mop the plate clean with a piece of bread. What truly sets Mama's apart, though, is the people. Manager Nicole runs the front of house with warmth and genuine care, making every guest feel like a regular from the moment they walk in. Server Carol is an absolute delight -- attentive, friendly, and the kind of server who makes the whole experience feel effortless and personal. Mama's is the rare restaurant that works for every occasion. Date night, birthday celebration, graduation dinner, anniversary -- or just a Tuesday when you need a great slice. The atmosphere is welcoming, the food is consistently outstanding, and the staff makes you want to come back. Simply put: Mama's is a neighborhood treasure.

I'm not sure what ever became of the old owner and his wife, but they owned and ran Cafe Dolce Vita for decades - I recall when it was located in the plaza next door at 1966 Deer Park Avenue, and we used to go there when I was a student at DPHS. Let me tell you; I still think of their chicken marsala pizza, or their pinwheels. I knew pizza didn't have to be just plain cheese or pepperoni, but that a pizza could have chicken marsala on it was life-changing for me. If a pizza could have chicken marsala on it, why, it could have just about anything on it. I don't know if I'll ever get back to Deer Park someday, or if Cafe Dolce Vita will still be there when I do, but if it is I will absolutely be stopping in. All these haters don't know the half of Cafe Dolce Vita's story and status as one of the grand dames of pizza joints in Deer Park and the fact that some of these newer places crowding the town weren't even a glimmer in their owner's eye when Cafe Dolce Vita was already the older, established joint in town. So what if the old owner was a bit gruff. He made pizza so good I still remember it nearly twenty years later. And it looks like the place is still going strong. Don't let the flame die out! The pizza here is a treasure of the town, and stands on its own merits.
