How sad it is to return to this establishment 10 years after they completely screwed up food multiple times and forced me to just abandoned the establishment and find that the food is the same as 10 years ago. Johnnys had a period where the food was good, not over cheesed and soaked in freeze-dried garlic powder. Ordered the Bonta white pie and found the crust was thick, undercooked and doughy. Same thing for the mushroom-sausage pie that was delivered with pepperoni instead of sausage. Multiple kids waiting at home home watching movies rated the pizzas a 4/10. I'll continue making my trip down to CIB until I find a good pie closer. Maybe we'll try again in a few years. read more

Almost in area a year now, Johnnys has never let me down, I eat there weekly. White pizza, spinach, ricotta, tomato garlic & oil is amazing. Pizza is great period. I've had the veal dishes all great, veal Johnny is my favorite. Get the white pizza and bring few bottles of Pinot G, thank me later. read more

Walked over from spring hotel cause their grill was closed. It's literally 30 feet away from the hotel, so it's easy to go back and forth. The guy was just putting on his coat to head out, as it was about 9:55. He stayed and made me a whole pizza. It was pretty dang good too! One of the freshest pizzas I've had. I felt bad for the guy but it was quite considerate! Definitely recommend getting something if you want some good Italian while you're at spring hotel! read more

My family and I have been going to Johnny's since I was a Toddler (15+ years ago). Whenever my parents ask me "Where do you want to go eat?" My first and only response is "Johnnys!" I can readily say that I love their food and never leave hungry. I also adore the date night ambiance and quality experience associated with the cozy atmosphere. I forever will consider Johnnys as my "GO-TO" date night spot and as a wonderful place to dine and spend an evening. I can't exactly remember the name of our server but she is and has been excellent (tall blonde with a tattoo). In terms of specifics, Tonight I had the chicken Francese with penne pasta and my father ordered his usual, in addition My drink refills were perfectly timed and numerous. Really enjoyed our meals. The veal Johnny was fabulous. Really well done, great flavor in the Marsala sauce. We asked for low salt and the chef was happy to accommodate. Updated: I thought I would give this place another shot recently, but it still sucks. The service has actually gotten worse somehow. My complaints with Johnny's are mainly the inconsistency with the food. Some nights it is good and some nights it is horrible. I really like the pizza when its good, but when it's bad, it's bad! The prices are also quite high for the area, so I expect the quality to be solid and consistent. I'm not sure if it's because different people are cooking on different nights or what, but I find it frustrating. Additionally, I don't understand why they seem to wrap the takeout sandwiches in such a way that the melted cheese on your sandwich is completely fused with the wax or foil it comes wrapped in resulting in either no cheese on your sandwich or paper foil stuck to your sandwich. Just little things like that, you expect to not be an issue. The inconsistency keeps it from being my go to place. read more

Went on a Saturday, that was probably the problem, they don't do busy well. The food is excellent. Flavorful and the sauces are top shelf. The waitstaff is attentive and friendly. The "service", a function of the kitchen is a concern. The table next to us, seated a good 20 minutes after us, we had our soup and salad already, had their main course before our appetizer was served. The appetizer sauce was outstanding, the Veal Marsala was excellent and my wife ordered the Ravioli Special that we could have shared. 3 each lobster & crab ravioli and 4 each scallop and P&D Tail-on Shrimp. shrimp were peeled from at least 21/25's and the scallops looked like 20-30's. Great sauce, it was fantastic. The haphazard Order in which the kitchen generates the orders is a cause of ill will with customers. We had heard of a disastrous dinner there a few weeks before but tried them anyway because we heard the food was good. We went by ourselves and had nothing else to do. Really like this place. It has the ambiance of an old fashioned family Italian restaurant..in other words not fancy but homey. The food has been excellent each time we have been there. I had a seafood linguini and the seafood portions were surprisingly generous for the price. The shrimp were large which is not always the case when you get a seafood dish. Great little place in the middle of nowhere. They have about 10 tables and there is a parade of people picking up take-out pizza, but it really didn't detract from enjoying my meal. With their internet coupon, dinner was less than $30. Really enjoyed my shrimp and scallop pasta. Four nice size shrimp and 4 scallops on a mountain of pasta with a rosa sauce. Companion had a chicken and pasta dish. Both were great. I had the salad and he had the soup. Nice that they offer a choice. Bread was good, too. Waitress confirmed it was Conshohocken. We recently moved to the area and a neighbor recommended Johnny's. As other reviewers mentioned the place is small but the food makes up for it. We have had the veal dishes here and the veal is always tender especially the Vitello Amore. The Frutti Di Mare with linguine is always cooked perfectly, not overcooked. Our friend had the special, tilapia topped with crab and she commented how good it was. The mussels in white sauce appetizer is always good along with the linguine with garlic and oil as a side dish. The calamari appetizer tastes frozen and not fresh so I don't recommend that. I had a special, veal with sun dried tomatoes with walnuts in a light franchlica sauce. Again, the veal was very tender BUT, WAY TOO MANY WALNUTS that just took the flavor away from the dish. Also, it's a BYOB. I've wished for a small Italian restaurant with excellent food that is BYOB. Johnny's used to be Joe's but is the same owner. The best kept secret is getting out. A small casual newly renovated dinning room with great food, great prices, and good portions. It may be a small pizza place but Johnny is an accomplished chef and the food gormet quality. We and all our friends feel we have found a "diamond in the rough". The Johnny we have seen is not an old man and certainly not mean. The food we have had is excellent and inexpensive. Some of his Italian dishes are as good as any I have had in top-of-the-line Center City restaurants at 3x the price. The venue is a bit small and , although recently redone, it is fresh and clean but not an interior designers best work. I have never had the Pizza but one can notice many going out the door while dining. Yes a bit of a hole-in-the wall, so set your expectations correctly and expect good food with friendly service at more than reasonable prices and you should be pleased. read more

I have lived in the area for a couple of years now and have been ordering delivery from here every since I moved in, back when it was Joe's. The food has never been fantastic but when you are busy and there is only place that delivers, you make do. I actually gave Joe's a 4 star review just because of the delivery. However, I think they must have gotten a new cook or something but the food is downright inedible now. The mussels tasted like they were boiled in lemony dirt water, the pizza is plastic, the Alfredo sauce tastes like it was made from curdled cream. I have only ever gotten pizza from here, but if you find an excellent go-to pizza why stray? Seriously - it's by far the best pizza in the area. I live closer to a different Italian restaurant but they consistenly messed up our orders and didn't want to fix it or seem to care. So off we went to our second choice in the area which ended up being jsut okay. On our third choice we decided to try Johnny's on a whim one night after biking on the Perkiomen Trail and haven't looked back. Now, we've never dined in the restaurant and honestly I'm not sure I'd want to. It looks kinda divey outside but was remodeled and looks decent inside. However it is extremely cramped and fairly noisy inside (a limitation of the building itself). Also parking can be annoying as it's in a weird little section of what I assume is the town of Spring Mount. They are seriously busy on the weekends - always a line just to pick up your food which isn't awesome for me, but is for them. Like I said - BEST pizza around. Try it. You'll like it! read more

this is our local go to place. I have to say it is really good. Johnny is a great guy who loves what he does and can really cook! I have eaten my way through the entire menu (at least the saute dishes and some specials). It really is all that! You cannot go wrong with his seafood, pastas, chicken, etc! I like his Pizza (I do not think Pizza should be put in a box, eat it where it is made if at all possible!). Excellent Calzones, fruta De Mar, Arrabiatta, Etc. I just moved into the area and tried Johnny's last week for the first time. I'll definitely be back. Only ordered a pizza and boy oh boy, it was one of the best pizzas I've ever had. Crust could have been thinner, but it was delectable nonetheless. Excellent sauce and ingredients were chopped so there was no messy pizza droppings. Can't wait to try other dishes on the menu. We ate here this past weekend for the first time at the recommendation of friends and were very pleased. Yes, it's small and will never be in better homes and gardens for its decor, but it was clean, very good service and we loved our entrees. My hubby had red snapper special with shrimp and crabmeat that was excellent. I had seafood diablo with shrimp, scallops and lobster over pasta and spicy marinara sauce. The shrimp and scallops were perfect. We saw some other entrees and they all looked good. One table had a pizza that was very large and they all loved it.
