They have good fried chicken, but they're rarely open. Gotta catch this gem while it's shinning.

Best kept secret in Duplin. Better Calabash style that most places on the coast. Friendly folks in a farm community. Perfectly cooked.

We really wanted to love this spot…read more.. Giving this spot a 3 instead of a 2, strictly because of my New England seafood bias. First things first: $10 for 4 slices of fried green tomato Would have been okay but it is merely sliced tomato, dredged in a plain cornstarch panko, with store bought pimento in a sauce cup. No pizzazz, no flavor. Give us some flavor! Shrimp was flavorful, how could it not be with old bay...but tasted almost like plastic after being microwaved. Scallops were honestly... kinda gross. No flavor and still quite sandy. One side over done one side under done. Mac and cheese tasted microwaved as well. My husband got the lobster roll. He said the 'spicy remoulade' tasted mostly like cocktail sauce mixed with mayo- no spice. Also, no lettuce or anything to make it pop. Lobster is usually market price so for $20, the meat portion was okay. Server was an absolute sweetheart, that's basically the only highlight. She wasn't even remotely surprised by our disappointment, that speaks volumes.

Came in for a late lunch. Friendly, quick service and fresh oysters. What more could you ask for? And then of course to continue with my oyster obsession, I got some fried oysters with fried okra. All good and all fresh. Nice lunch spot!

We've lived in the area for about 6 years. Eat out fairly often. This restaurant by far has been…read morethe most consistent in the quality of the food, which is the best of all the restaurants in the topsail area. It is not fine dining and has the sports bar vibe. It is a relatively small place and I recommend going on non peak hours in season. If you are into oysters, they have a great selection of both local and regional on the half shell. If you prefer cooked, chargrilled or steamed is a good choice. While the menu has a great selection of seafood, the chalkboard specials features extremely fresh local catches which change daily. While there are several restaurants in and around the topsail area this is the only one where I have never been disappointed. If you go at peak hours during the vacation season expect to wait but it is worth it. You can't miss with any of the steamed shellfish offerings and if you prefer fried there batter is light and not overpowering. As a sports bar, they have a large selection of tap and bottled beers and a good mixology of liquor options which is only outdone in my opinion by Rick's in Sneads Ferry

Whenever a restaurant puts "market price" next to an item, I'm worried. But Dear Wife and I were in…read morethe low country and we wanted a low country boil. So that's what we got. I could've asked the price upfront (and usually do) but what the heck... we're on vacation. The server suggested we get a "double" and share it. OK. Sounds good. It came out quick. There was a TON of food for two of us. Shrimp, sausage, potatoes, corn. It didn't have a lot of seasoning also on it, but - no problem - there was a rack with every hot sauce you'd ever need, plus salt, pepper and old bay. We both ate our fill and even left a few potatoes. The bill comes and it's less than $40. It might be the cheapest great meal I've had in a long time. Or maybe it's the "greatest cheap meal" I've had in a long time... I don't know. Bar ambiance, but pleasant enough for families. Mostly high tables. It all seemed very nice.

The food is ok, the service is great and the location is almost perfect…read more This is a pool deck and stage area, lots of cement and terraced levels fenced off from the pool but this also blocks the ocean and beach views. All the cement makes it a bit loud but also hot because it soaks in the heat and radiates it back out all day. This is fine in the cooler months or if you have pool access as a guest. There is an inside dining room too but why use that when its so much nicer outside? The food was good, not great, and like most tourist areas a bit over priced for the quality. I'm not saying it wan't good because everything we tried we liked. Only it was nothing to get too excited about for the higher prices. Honestly you're paying for the view and the nice outdoor seating. Note: The closer parking lots are for condo/hotel guests only and they will tow you away. If you're just coming to the restaurant you must park across the street. When we went there was plenty of of available parking but it was a very hot day in the high 90s and high humidity so by the time I parked and walked over I was already sweaty and uncomfortable. On a normal day it would be no big deal for me, but if your with people who cannot climb a steep driveway or do a long walk then I would drop them off at the front door and then go park.
