John's Bar is a great example of what a hometown bar should be. The employees are all great- they have good drinks.. better food and reasonable prices. One note on food is come hungry!! The portions are huge!! I suggest trying their homemade hummus! Delish!! If you get there early on Sundays it's buy one get one on your first drink! They have a fun, laid back ambiance. The best part is that even though its on 3rd Street you don't get a lot of rowdy college students!!! The people tend to be anywhere from late 20s to 30s, 40s and so on! It doesn't get better than John's Bar!

One of my favorite places to stop at when I'm in town. Services is amazing and they treat you like your family. Food is delicious every time, I'd recommend the chicken philly add jalapeños! Just stop on by and start a conversation. Great people here, definitely worth the stop if you've never been here before. Best bar in La Crosse!

Finally got around to checking out the Shop yesterday, Saturday! I didn't peruse their page before…read morebut assumed there was a mass of Oktoberfest shenanigans afoot. To my delight there was not and arriving shortly after 2:00 I had the joint to myself!! Allowing me to chat up friendly beertender Niki! She was so fun to talk to beer and breweries about. I liked their beer selection; not too much, not too little, just a good enough selection to reach any palate. I loved when I got up to take a picture and discovered an old cigarette vending machine. In the other room is a vintage motorcycle, vintage a hammerschlagen stump and a plethora of randomness sure to spark your nostalgia. It was a perfect afternoon for the two garage doors open. A cute chubby cat may pop on to the bar, I didn't have time to pet them as in my talking w my hands flailing I slapped the bar and they weren't sticking around for my antics. I really liked the welcoming and calm vibe of Beer Shop, the delightful, friendly service, and he beer selection. There is just a small parking lot off to the west but I think there may be street parking off to the east. Thanks Beer Shop for an absolutely wonderful inaugural visit, cheers.

Me and my 3 buddies had heard pretty bad things about the seasoning on the fries but it was actually great, I'd give it about a 6-7/10. The restaurant as a whole gets a 10/10. We stood in line at the bar and then ordered food on our phones at our table. The Burgers were decent. My chicken wrap was just so-so (the Greek sauce was very bland.) the fries and tots were inedible as they were covered in sugar!?!! (Who thought that was a good idea?!?!) Nowhere on the menu did it say there would be sugar on the fries and tots! The menu did mention "a special gold dust" on the tots but no explanation of what it was and no one to ask as there was no waitstaff to the tables. None of us could eat the sugared tots and fries and the teenagers left still hungry. The adults were disappointed that you didn't have locally brewed Old Style on tap. I love the remodel you did. It really opened up the space. It's nice that you have music now too. My husband and I did go a second time. I had a burger this time that was good and I stuck to onion rings as a side. We again were disappointed there isn't Old Style on tap in the city where it is brewed! Please support your local brewery's beer if you want locals to support you!
