The Sandwich is good! Filled with meat, but in my opinion it's lacking a little in flavor.

I have been coming here since I was in high school. Yes, they do have great sandwiches but their other food items are quite tasty too. I usually get the breaded chicken cut up over an order of large fries that is then smothered in marinara sauce. Consistency is one of their positives because my recent order tasted exactly as it did when I was in high school. The price is also pretty much the same. I would not recommend going here in the afternoon when school is in session because it will be full of high school students but lunch in the summertime would be a good idea.

I don't usually get to this part of Brooklyn, but when i do i know where I'm eating! If you see a deli that has been in existence since the 60s you don't have to be a genius to know it's good.. Great selection. Italian run and owned. Small but real. Throwback. Hilarious names for their heroes. The chicken, meatball, shrimp, eggplant parmigiana heroes are unbelievable! The tables have rolls of paper towels (you'll need them) messy and delicious! I know it's not quite what it was in the heyday of the New York deli, but let's face it..those days are gone for the most part. Still, John's should be highly recommended since it still captures that old style city deli.

RAW BAKED CHICKEN DON'T GET THE HOT FOOD! STICK TO SANDWICHES!! A WASTE OF $14

WHERE DO I START? (1) I waited 20 min for an order that ONLY needed to be placed in a take out container. I ordered from their hot displayed already cooked food! (2) Chicken was RAW PINK (see photo)! (3) VERY FEW Potato wedges TOO SWEET! (4) Green beans had SO MANY chunks of garlic it was placed in the garbage!! So for $14 I was better off going to Popeyes. I REALLY wanted to like this meal it looked so good on the display! They make the BEST roast beef sandwiches maybe they need to stick to sandwiches and forget the HOT Food? They renovated and upgraded the place looks great but DOWNGRADED on the hot food. Next time I go I will get a sandwich or wait I may have to wait an hour for THAT? Forgedaboutit! I'm done with this place it got worse no wonder it was empty!

Roast beef sandwich on a roll

My first time here and it was VERY GOOD! I got the fried shrimp and calamari on a pretzel hero with marinara and mozzarella. Needless to say it was PRETTY AMAZING. I asked the cashier to have them go easy on the mozzarella and they did just that! Loved it!! My hubby had the Johnnys roast beef sandwich on a roll. He says it's the BEST roast beef sandwich he ever had. The service was very honest too cuz I was puzzled at why my two sandwiches and a drink cost $25+ and the owner went back to look at the receipts and came to our table with $2 refund cuz they had charged for the cheese which should've been included. Now, that's what I'm talking about! Awesome. I will be back!!!

This is a Brooklyn staple. Love the sandwiches here. The roast beef sandwich with mozzarella cheese and Carmelites onions was delicious. The hero was nice and fresh and tasty. The potato croquet was yummy.

To be honest, food is very good, except chicken parm. Chicken is tasted like rubber, very upset with particular that hero.

I waited for about 45 minutes, while waiting I picked up my chips and a white peach ginger ale. I also talked to the girl in front and she explained that you can get your sandwhich on a hero or roll. I ordered a chopped honey turkey with onions, pickles, lettuce and mayo. The guy who made my sandwich was soo friendly and patient. I just put my trust in him to hook it up lol. He also asked if I wanted to add the chips and I did. Overall my sandwhich was better the next day after it firmed up. The flavor was good but the texture was soft, mushy and just not what I want in a turkey sandwhich. It ran me about 12.00 and it was worth the experience.
