My dad was a customer of Freddys' for over 20 years and I've been a customer of both Freddy and Sal for years now. This is the only car repair shop that I go to and trust wholeheartedly. I have had various wear and tear issues fixed and have never had to return for repair work they have performed. After dropping the car off I have always been called with a diagnosis within two or three hours and after approving of the repairs, was able to pick the car up by the end of day. The pricing is fair and I am shown the old parts upon pickup (my air filter was scary). I am certain I am not the only one that feels this way. Before bringing my car in, I spoke with Daniel and explained that my car alarm had been going off randomly. I asked if they had a diagnostic scanner, and he said yes. I was surprised when I asked about the diagnostic fee and he told me it was free. Most auto repair shops and dealerships I have dealt with charge for diagnostics, so I truly appreciated his honesty and generosity. Daniel was also very friendly and asked for my name during our phone conversation. When I made the appointment, I let him know that my husband would be bringing the car in. When my husband arrived at the shop, Daniel remembered my name, which was such a nice personal touch and showed how much he genuinely cares about his customers. It took about 90 minutes to diagnose the problem, and they found that a loose latch on the driver's side was causing the issue. They tightened the latch, and when my husband asked how much we owed, Daniel told him there was no charge. We were both completely surprised and incredibly grateful! Daniel was friendly, professional, honest, and provided outstanding customer service from beginning to end. I mentioned that the system had pressure, but no one explained that a recharge wouldn't help if the compressor wasn't working. As a customer, I didn't know the compressor status -- that's what I expected them to diagnose first. After taking payment and completing the recharge (which didn't solve the problem), they told me I had a refrigerant leak. But how was that diagnosed? With the compressor not engaging, there was no circulation, no dye test, no vacuum hold -- just a guess after the fact. They later explained that the recharge was done "to see if the compressor would engage" -- but I had already told them there was pressure in the system. Skipping basic electrical tests and charging for a recharge first is not professional diagnosis. What I received was uninformed consent: I agreed to a recharge without being told it was unlikely to help unless the compressor was working. As a customer, I relied on their expertise to guide the process -- but they failed to explain this critical limitation. I wasn't given a service report or receipt during the visit -- both were sent the next day, after I posted a review. Their mention of a refrigerant leak was never documented, and no leak detection tests were performed. It felt like an after-the-fact explanation when the recharge didn't solve the problem. Their process seems designed to create more work (and more charges) instead of solving the actual problem from the start. Rather than diagnose the issue first, they sold a service that couldn't fix the underlying fault -- leading to more expensive steps later. Professional mechanics explain what they are doing and why. I paid for a tune-up and specifically asked the staff to check all fluids and make sure everything was in good condition. I was assured that everything, including the transmission, had been checked and was fine. Less than a week later, my transmission began slipping and struggling to go into gear. I had an independent mechanic inspect the vehicle, and he discovered that the transmission fluid was extremely low or effectively empty. We attempted to refill it and see if the transmission could be saved, but the damage had already been done. I was ultimately facing a repair estimate of roughly $5,000 and ended up junking the vehicle and purchasing another car. To this day, I cannot understand how I was told the transmission was checked and in good condition when I experienced such a catastrophic failure immediately afterward. Unfortunately, this was not the only issue I experienced. On another visit, I was told my vehicle was ready for pickup. When I arrived, I was then asked to wait because the oil service had not actually been completed. I watched the technician finish adding oil after I had already arrived to collect what I had been told was a completed vehicle. I also had to return because a plastic component was left in my back seat after service and had not been reinstalled. One mistake can happen anywhere. Multiple incidents involving quality control, communication, and attention to detail are much harder to overlook. The financial impact of these experiences was significant, and I have never felt that anyone took responsibility or provided a satisfactory explanation. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend this shop and would strongly encourage customers to seek a second opinion on any major service recommendations or inspections. This review reflects my honest experience as a paying customer. Junior, Ryan, and Shanice, I am deeply disappointed in all of you.
