I paid for a tune-up and specifically asked the staff to check all fluids and make sure everything was in good condition. I was assured that everything, including the transmission, had been checked and was fine. Less than a week later, my transmission began slipping and struggling to go into gear. I had an independent mechanic inspect the vehicle, and he discovered that the transmission fluid was extremely low or effectively empty. We attempted to refill it and see if the transmission could be saved, but the damage had already been done. I was ultimately facing a repair estimate of roughly $5,000 and ended up junking the vehicle and purchasing another car. To this day, I cannot understand how I was told the transmission was checked and in good condition when I experienced such a catastrophic failure immediately afterward. Unfortunately, this was not the only issue I experienced. On another visit, I was told my vehicle was ready for pickup. When I arrived, I was then asked to wait because the oil service had not actually been completed. I watched the technician finish adding oil after I had already arrived to collect what I had been told was a completed vehicle. I also had to return because a plastic component was left in my back seat after service and had not been reinstalled. One mistake can happen anywhere. Multiple incidents involving quality control, communication, and attention to detail are much harder to overlook. The financial impact of these experiences was significant, and I have never felt that anyone took responsibility or provided a satisfactory explanation. Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend this shop and would strongly encourage customers to seek a second opinion on any major service recommendations or inspections. Recently, I got in my car, I put the key in, and it did not start. I was pretty pissed off. I took the battery and carried it to L&D. They told me I should have called. They tested the battery and it seemed fine. Then they drove me to my car, worked on the car, figured out the problem and left and came back with a new battery. Then they took the car to the shop and made sure other things were taken care of. They also changed my oil. No work that was done without my approval and nothing was pressured. I have represented these guys on business ventures, and sometimes, when you know people in other contexts, you can be disappointed. This is one of those unique situations where I can recommend someone to my mechanic without hesitation. I have recommended them to several people I know and each has been extremely happy. They don't just make me look good, they really fix stuff. Sometimes, I bet they are annoyed by the crazy situations I create with my car, but they fix it each and every time I manage to do something batmanish. The other day, I was in the shop with my car and they were fixing it and I was sitting in the waiting area with other customers and it was almost like a cult meeting. I have never met a group of people so happy to get their cars fixed. I find L&D to be pretty inexpensive compared to other places and they are pretty honest. I have never known them to cut corners. Cons: They don't serve coffee while you wait, though there is a TV. I don't really drink coffee. However, I don't like just writing nice things, it gets to people's heads.
