Recently visited this location as a new patient. Haven't seen a review written about it yet, so wanted to quickly share how it went during this covid era: The day of my appointment, I got an email prompting me to take a covid screening. Assuming you finish and pass the screening, you are emailed a green pass that you show the front desk when entering the building. If you don't get a chance to pre-fill it, you take the screening with one of the front desk receptionists, who are set up right in front of the elevators. The particular office I visited had a one patient rule, meaning you could not be accompanied by another person, or have them sit in the waiting area. Not an issue for me, but could be something to keep in mind for parents, guardians, etc. In the waiting area, every other seat was blocked off. Parking out front is free and plentiful. Went there for excruciating back pain. Therapist put me through a series of exercises that caused me great pain. After when I was lying on the table I couldn't sit up because the pain was so bad, and she just sat there and watched me. I felt demeaned and worse than when I came. When she lifted my shirt to massage my back, I had to ask her to close the door. Terrible experience. At the end of the session she said I might want to try somewhere else. She was 100% correct. read more

Pediatric patients RUN DON'T WALK away from this office. The front desk has 4 receptionist who will cover for each other when they screw up. Koor, Kathy, Gina and the best of all diamond. Diamond will hang up on you for asking her name and the whole office will cover saying none of them talked to you two minutes ago, how strange. Sheila Hofert is the absolute worst pediatrician we could have ended up with. We were transferred to her after our original pediatrician moved to a further location. She is a nightmare, refuses to communicate with the parents unless you're there in person, there's nothing about our experience with this person that says she's genuinely concerned for the patient. If you need a school physical or vaccines any clinic will do, but if you want a doctor who cares about their patients, a front desk staff that doesn't get away with lying to parents and their boss William, run fast and far. Some doctors go above and beyond for the welfare of their patients, not Hoffert though! One issue you need their help with and you won't get a response from her or her front desk staff. We're pulling our 4 kids out of there ASAP. Good luck if you end up here, you'll need it. read more

DOCTOR TINA JACOB, is one of the most unprofessional medical doctors I have ever met, and I am a 30 year Army veteran that's been all over the world. I'm leaving this review here as a warning because I know Johns Hopkins will do nothing but send her new patients. She corrected me at least 3 times like an English teacher when I accidentally called her Mrs. instead of Doctor, "Umm it's Doctor" then when she got done talking she left the room. I sat there for over 25 minutes until I heard janitorial staff emptying trash cans. When I looked outside my room, the work staff was gone & the lights were off! The janitor took me to her office. She gave a curt apology, said the appointment was "NOW" over and go get my referrals. She waived her hand at me as a dismissal and went back to typing as if I had interrupted her! I was LIVID. You don't treat patients like garbage or a nuisance it doesn't matter what your TITLE is. She made me feel like I was a waste of her time. Sadly, Johns Hopkins Community Physicians at White Marsh has become an example of dysfunctional, poor healthcare. This practice has declined dramatically in terms of physician, PA and NP quality in the last year. The office staff try to be helpful, when giving out scheduling information. But, the practitioners will then tell you something completely different. You will be treated by NPs and PAs and not see or speak to your doctor unless you insist on it. Even when seeing your doctor, you're most likely to be ignored, told your symptoms aren't serious, and made to feel like you're faking everything. Over the past year, I was misdiagnosed twice. My doctor stated in his notes, in so many words, that I was faking the severity of my symptoms and was a hypochondriac. I ended up hospitalized because the strep infection I had was so severe that my airway was swelling shut. Mind you, this was after being seen in person, with the infection swelling my neck to twice its normal size. One hand does not know what the other is doing at this practice. The residents who are working here are hit or miss. Do yourself a favor and avoid this practice at all costs! read more

The worse customer service I've ever experienced and I'm an employee for JHH! I haven't seen my Family Medicine PCP in over 2 years because of Covid restrictions. When the restrictions were lifted, I made 2 appointments. However, my appointments were canceled at the very last minute, and was told I couldn't be seen for another 3 months?! With my hectic schedule as a RN, it's not possible to schedule that far in advance. Every time I had an opportunity to go, the clinic was booked solid, and that has been my battle with them this past year. Today, I received a text from my pharmacist stating my CARDIAC prescription couldn't be refilled. I called the clinic to see what happened. I was told since I haven't made an appointment to see my PCP in a few years, they dropped me as a patient! I never received a message or a phone call stating if I can't come in by "X date" I would be dropped. I told the receptionist, Lisa, I have been trying to get in but the available appointments conflict with my work schedule, and she brushed me off. I reiterated that I have prescription cardiac medication that I need and it won't be refilled?! She had ZERO sympathy, and kept telling me because I haven't been in that it's essentially my fault for being kicked out. Furthermore, my patient status would be changed to "new patient," and the next available appointment for "new patients" is NEXT year! She said she would forward my call to scheduling and see if I could work something out with them, which makes absolutely no sense. When she "forwarded" me to scheduling, she HUNG UP on me! I called back thinking it could've been a mistake because it happens. After dealing with their automated menu and holding for a few minutes, someone else picked up but I asked to speak to "Lisa" again since she already knew what was going on and to spare the new person the story. The receptionist told me there's no Lisa that works there and that she doesn't know who I spoke with. What in the world?! I told her I literally was on the phone with her less than 5 minutes ago. They put me on hold again, and the new person says that "Lisa" is speaking to someone else and cannot answer the phone but will call me back. She repeated my phone number before I hung up to make sure they had a way to contact me. It's now 10 PM and "Lisa" has never called back. I'm glad I'm my cardiac issues aren't that dire because I would never get to see my doctor. Needless to say, I'm going to another Family Medicine PCP because I don't want to go to a place that treats their employees like garbage, and places blame on the patient versus trying to fix the problem. Thank you for dropping me as a patient without warning, and having the audacity to place the blame on me when you folks never communicated that I needed to come in asap to retain my patient status. Then, to have the audacity to play games with me on the phone that no one named "Lisa" works there only to tell me later that "Lisa" will call me back?! You can see a PCP, pediatrician, get labs done, OB/GYN, physical therapy, & etc. at this location. It is very convenient because they have everything there in one large building. My family really enjoys all of the doctors we have had encounters with. I called my PCP for a complete physical exam appointment just yesterday & their first available is only two weeks out. If I am sick & the doctor is not available to see me right away, I have been able to get in & see a PA. But Patients First (urgent care) is attached to this building so it is very convenient to just drop in there when needed - afterhours (they are open everyday of the year until 10PM, btw). The only time I am sitting in the waiting room for a long time is when I see my PCP. Good thing I don't see her often! For some reason, they'll have you sitting there for 30 minutes before getting called back into a room, and then sometimes you have to wait an additional 10-15 minutes for the doctor to come in. But, this happens at various doctor offices so it just seems like something, we as patients, have to deal with sometimes :/ So that can suck. And another thing that can be a bit annoying is the amount of times they "update" their system or get a whole new system. That means you have to go over all of your information again. I feel as if every time I go there, they have a new system & I have to start over with giving them all of my information. Everyone my daughter has seen is great. They are respectful, thoughtful and professional. When it comes to on the phone situations they are TERRIBLE. I have called twice because the first time they left me on hold for half an hour. On my second call (currently still on hold) they have done nothing. Also, their hold machine is terrible, not only the elevator music but it'll randomly have screeching and breaking up into static and it's HORRIBLE to listen to. Sincerely, an angry client. read more

Johns Hopkins Community physicians has significantly shown steadfast decline in customer services. I would not recommend this health care practice to NO ONE. Appointments canceled without any messages thru MyChart or via phone. However, they did send me an after visit summary of a visit that didn't occur. Checking in is a nightmare....with no personal interactions. Be prepared to share your medical history with the entire office....NO Privacy at all. So this is what I just found out--I have Hopkins Advantage as a supplemental Medicare plan. I have come to JHU Whitemarsh thinking they were connected to the plan. Well they each do not know what the other is doing and you really don't know what your cost for a procedure (in my case knee injections) will be because the customer service people can't tell you and the facility staff don't know what an injectible will cost until they submit it to the plan. So a long awaited appointment and my time today is wasted. Also I was told that I would have to call them in a week to get a price because they don't call patients! Looks like another change of insurance this year. Who came up with this business model? Must be doctors who all live in their ivory towers and not the real world. Do I sound sarcastic and pissed?? Automatic recording when you call takes forever to get to someone, and always on hold even if you get in touch. One staffing said no appoints were available for 5 days and we checked with another staffing member and they said they had one available in few hours? I tried scheduling an appointment with their hand and wrist orthopedic group at this location. After waiting a month and being within a few days of my appointment, their office calls to cancel it and to try to push it back another month. This isn't the first time I've had issues at this location either. Wait times need serious improvement. They may have "Johns Hopkins" in their name, but the quality and professionalism is second rate. It could be why their rankings are slipping in recent years. read more

Ridiculous overblown billing! I was charged $420 for a physical, in which she read my file and wrote referrals, nothing else. Most of this $420 dollar visit involved me sitting in the waiting room filling out my medical history. In addition, terrible customer service as they told me they would look into my dispute (with the coding of this visit and never got back to me). I had to call them back, for them to tell me the physician's office would not reconsider. I will never use them again, and recommend you be careful about what is being "done" and charged for. read more

The lab is the absolute worst. We came on a Saturday and only three people were working. An African American woman working the desk, a white woman with glasses and an muslim lady. The line was out of the door and they were not going in the order in which people were signed in. Not to mention, the staff was extremely rude and curt with the patients. I only come to this office because it's a part of the JH community in which my family visit. However, I plan to switch to an offsite lab. read more

The lab is the worst. If I could give a negative star I would. The phlebotomist was great, however the woman at the front desk was completely unprofessional. She had no understanding of confidentiality and I could clearly hear her discussing patient issues. When I asked roughly how long the wait might be I was told "you have to judge for yourself, take your chances". I went to the lab on a Friday and almost three weeks later the results still had not been sent to my doctor. When I called to verify, the person who answered the phone admitted that the results had not been sent but proceeded to get a snarky attitude with me. The results still were not sent until the following week. I had to follow up again. At this point a middle eastern woman told me that if the doctor did not have the results, they would need to call back with a new fax number. First and last time at this lab!! read more

My OBGYN is here, and I love them. I have never had a problem with the dr's there, but I would say it does feel a bit rushed because they are so busy. But, all of the dr's I have seen there do make sure to ask "Do you have any other questions or concerns?" before the end of the visit. I started taking my daughter to the pediatricians there, and I have not been happy thus far. I always feel so rushed that I don't get to ask all of my questions, and when I do ask a question, I am cut off before I can finish it with an answer that wasn't what I was going to ask. This happened to my by both the doctor and nurse practitioner there. Everyone is super friendly, so I'm sad to switch, but I don't feel our medical needs are being met. Last time my daughter was there for a sick visit, she got misdiagnosed with something highly contagious (and easily treatable if properly managed) and it spread to the rest of the family - not to mention she was extremely uncomfortable the entire time. I don't know what the other poster was talking about not getting reminder calls because I always get mine, although they are a week in advance (you should really remember your own appointment anyway). read more

What does it tell you when your vet and auto dealer provide 100% better customer service then your medical center. I would go as far to say that customer service is non-existent at this facility. No appointment reminders, no follow-up calls, lost referrals, lost test results, 3 hour wait times even with an appointment; wellness appointments can be as far out as 3 months.......etc....etc. so despite having a very good GP I am forced to deal this. Wait is long, sometimes hard to get ahold of on phone and sometimes frustrating. But it's the best doctors the world has to offer. People across the world would die to get the type of care. Worst office ever! Consistently you can never reach someone and have to be on hold for beyond a reasonable amount of time. Furthermore, once you reach someone and they can never assist you immediately and when they do finally get back to you they do not respond appropriately with the question you called in for. Johns Hopkins at White Marsh is a very professional medical office. They make very good use of modern information technologies to maximize the effectiveness of their doctors, who are well-qualified. The doctors seem quite patient. They listen to you and take their time to make sure that they have covered every possible ground. This is one medical office I've seen, where the doctors are not usually in a rush to get to the next patient. Additionally, they have a spectacular follow-up system. Getting an appointment can require a long wait sometimes, but the way to get around this is to tell them to contact you in case of a cancellation. Usually, they will find a spot for you within a day or two, but you must be ready to pounce on the opportunity or someone else will take it. Brought my 9 year old in and When I saw an empty waiting room, I thought AWESOME! Quick in and out. BOY WAS I WRONG! We were brought in the back and put in a room at 7:50pm. When walking back I noticed there were many open rooms. We have been waiting for over an hour for someone to come in. I asked a nurse how long it would take and her response was "I'm not sure I work in the front half and you're in the back" so I proceeded to ask if I left, would I get my copay back. Very quickly my answer was NO. Needless to say, we are never coming back here! Should've just gone to the ER and be seen quicker! You'd think they would take consideration for children. Dr. Pinto is a great pediatrician. He is very thorough. My daughter likes him. He listens to what we have to say and answers us honestly.

We've been attending here since October 2009. I started seeing ob when I was pregnant, and my daughter was assigned Dr. Chang who fortunately sees my husband and I. The convenience of everything in one building outweighs the inconvenience of waiting to see the doctor. When my husband tore his ACL, the PCP was able to call down to x-ray and ask them to stay a little later to see him so she could expedite the results. If I need an appointment for my kids because they are sick and we can't see our family doctor, we are always squeezed in to see another pediatrician. We have used the lab facilities, x-ray/mri, physical therapy, family medicine, surgeon, and ob care. I have to give a special thank you to Dr. Chang, even if she is swamped she always gives us her full attention. I called to ask about lab results and even though she was supposed to be away for the weekend she called me back, I don't see service like that anymore! read more
