Terrible customer service and poor communications with Customer. Very misleading they charge 3 to 4 times what other similar places charge it's too soon to say what the quality of the work is. All good have a battery replaced, and my watchband that I provided put on the watch. The chargers are excessive and abusive The value for the money. It's definitely not there. The only reason I did this as I was in a pinch I needed to get it done in a hurry. The owner has responded to other reviews and Completely denies everything people report. It's like he doesn't even read the review and do something about it probably doesn't respond and defend. I definitely do not recommend John's Locking Key for anything. I've never met John personally, because when I came into the store, there was some other individual running it. What would show interest is for John to contact me and to adjust the abusive charges. Just to summarize they charge me almost $30 for a battery that you can get for eight dollars on Amazon. I'm all for that. Make me a profit but that's a little excessive don't you think. Additionally, to change my provided watchband they charge me $25 for something. I took Less than two minutes to do. I couldn't even stop him from charging me because he said the band was already on the watch. And I guess the final check or was I paid with a visa card instead of cash and he had the nerve to charge me an extra 6% of the total cost. Visa does not charge any merchant fees such as that as you can see it's abusive. I guess I could see them charging 3% but 6% is outrageous. Be very careful doing any business with them. I can't speak for the lock and key side of their business. I would assume that you should be very cautious cautious before having them do anything. read more

I have found my new locksmith! Reliable automotive locksmiths in L.A. are so hard to find. It's always 'blah blah...programming fobs is hard...going to cost you hundreds of dollars, blah blah...' Not the case with John. I sent some queries out on Yelp, John wrote back, said what do you need? I told him, he said great I have your key in stock, it won't take long to program it, and it's $85. By far the best price quote I got from anyone. He even agreed to stay in the shop late for me so I wouldn't have to leave work early. He was super friendly, professional and took the care of the job swiftly and got me on my way. I was super stoked. And, best of all, his Lincoln Heights shop was right on my way home, so super convenient. This guy is Awesome! My car has transponder keys so it won't start if the key is damaged. Well... I swam with the key in my pocket...Needless to say the key stopped working. The dealership, and other services were going to charge me $300+ to replace just 1 key. John helped me find the keys I needed, cut them, and programmed them for around 1/3 of that cost. He made 2. I'm in Alhambra and they're in Lincoln Heights. It's a 12 minute drive from their place to mine. The guy said he'd leave immediately. An hour later, I called them back and the guy at the shop says the other locksmith should be there any minute. A few minutes after that the locksmith calls and says he's out front... he's not. He went to the wrong address, 3 miles away from me. 10 minutes later he shows up and doesn't even apologize. Gets me into my house after about 10 minutes and still charges me $75. Awful. The 1 star is for the fact that I did eventually get into my house. read more

I had John come and re-key our doors and repair a lock for our sliding glass door. I found John to be very courteous, friendly, and professional. After the doors were re-keyed, I noticed the back door knob would not unlock from the inside. John tried to resolve the issue, but we ended up getting a new lever knob for our front door and switching out the other knob for our back door. The job was done quickly, and John was in and out in no time. I also want to mention that he was running a little late, and he was courteous enough to call ahead and let me know he was on his way.
