Came in for some plants I needed for a customer only to find they were out of the specific verity I needed. They do have a huge selection-to choose from and the lemon trees looked tempting. We were looking for larger shade trees to give us privacy and shade in our backyard. We went originally to moon valley nursery since they appeared on top when searching on google. We liked their trees but throughout the discussion with their sales rep, it just felt like dealing with a car dealership. I went home to think and just had a feeling of dishonesty and trying to rip us off. I decided to reach out to other nurseries and this is when I encountered greenfield nursery. I called up greenfield at 8a on Sunday morning and Tam picked up the phone and offered FaceTime consultation immediately to give me a quote. It was right of the bat 2/3 lower than what moon valley wants. I immediately went to his nursery to check out their trees. His nursery and trees are out of this world! Small or large, you name it, if he can grow it, he has it! He drove us around in his nursery and showed us the trees we had in mind and he also gave his honest opinion what to avoid and what would work for the goals we had in mind. The entire interactions were very down to earth and I didn't feel pressured and you can get the sense that he is an honest person running an honest business. 24h later, we had 3 new trees in our backyard. Tam's son showed up along with 2 of their crews and planted the trees. The whole thing took 4 hours. They were professional and knowledgeable about plants. They even gave me pointers on what we were not doing enough on our existing trees at no cost. Now that's customer service! Overall, you can't go wrong with Greenfield nursery. It's the best bang for your buck! We are definitely customer for life for every plants need. read more

Second time we have been here. Went to Moon Valley first but the prices were SUPER expensive there. Greenfield has quality plants for reasonable prices. Not much customer service this time as we had to haul and load the plants ourself, but the work is worth the 60% discount. $145 total for five 2 gallon plants and one 5 gallon flowering shrub. Would definitely recommend again. Moon Valley was $300 for a small shrub and $500 for a climbing vine with flowers. read more

Service is really lacking here, we came in with trees in mind and just needed to see the quality, know the pricing and maybe ask one or two questions. But we were met with unfriendly faces. I waved at a lady who seems to be an owner and she just stared at me and walked into the house. Okay rude, then there was a guy directing his staff as they were building something and we asked him for directions to our plant of interest. He didn't even smile or seems like he cared to help he just walked and we assumed it was to follow him. He led us to the plants, I asked if he had a selection of single trunk only. He just stared and pointed at the row which means to probably search myself. Super rude and uninviting. Prices are still higher than some surrounding nurseries and they provide 1000% better service. (Ex: he's selling Indian Laurels @$195, I found same size elsewhere for $150 single trunk. Will never be back or recommend. Avoid this place, you can do better. read more

Many of the labels on the pots are incorrect, so you need to know what you are looking for. I didn't see many prices on things, again, because I imagine it is more of a wholesale place. Well the nursery had some of the best rose flowers I have seen in years. I have hardly seen any rose that smells like a rose. I found them on Yelp and drove to them. All my trip was well worth it. I found GREAT rose bushes and some fruit plants. This helped me soo much. I wish I had more space to buy all kinds of fruit plants they had. Staff was helpful and had masks all the time when around customers. There are signs posted on property asking everyone to maintain social distancing and wear masks!!! read more

This place had a large selection and the owners are super friendly, you can tell they are very hard working. Tom and family have been around for over 15+ years and are extremely knowledgeable and helpful. They are family owned, so be patient as they do everything themselves. But will offer you the best deal and have a great knowledge of trees/recommendations. Please wear shoes that you are ready to get muddy. They are a huge nursery and have a lot of muddy areas, but I asked for boots and they had some to spare. :) read more

Jerry is the person I interact with the most, and he's always helpful. He knows where every plant is and pulls out what I'm searching for without asking. Most of the staff is polite and professional and well versed in the plants I request and can answer all of my questions regarding planting, growing, soil, etc. The nursery has an abundant of choices in plants, shrubs and trees. I usually find what I need. The plants are always healthy with a good selection and well-priced. They also sell soil, so you don't have to go elsewhere. A wonderful plant nursery! I can't see why negative reviews were written, except for maybe the place has changed since they were written in '14 and '15. Greenfield has a wonderful selection of trees and plants including a huge selection of drought tolerant and deer resistant plants. I bought 11 medium pots of succulents and ground cover for $50.00 including tax. That seems like a good price to me. The owner is a very humble and knowledgeable man. He's a real treasure, please respect him, his culture may differ from yours. One review said a lady got her shoes muddy. I didn't see an unexpected amount of mud, but it is summertime. Good to wear gardening shoes, though, it is outside. Most, but not all plants are marked with name, price, shade/sun, flower, type, etc. One review was frustrated that they aren't all marked. I just asked, and the owner helped me find what I needed. They just sell plants/trees. So, you'll need to get your tools, soil, etc somewhere else. read more

We hit the jackpot when we found Greenfield Nursery! I had been calling all over town looking for Pittosporm trees, with absolutely no luck until I called Greenfield Nursery. The owner, Huy Phan, was very prompt getting back with me when I called, and texted me pictures of the trees we were looking for. We ended up by purchasing five mature Pittosporm trees, and had them delivered the very next day. Huy arrived promptly the next morning with a helper, and was kind enough to wheel them into our backyard. He offered me knowledgeable advice on planting, fertilizing, along with spraying for any future pests. His nursery is absolutely huge! He owns a 10 acre parcel with so many varieties of trees and plants. We will definitely be back for other items! read more

Highly recommend visiting this local nursery for your landscaping needs. The staff is incredibly helpful as I was a bit clueless on what I needed to plant in my yard. I was looking for low maintenance plants that I could easily keep alive and they were able to recommend so many different plants! Even during Covid where I'm so weary of going to too many places, I was able to call in advance and send pictures of my area before picking up the plants. So much better than the big box stores and the prices are actually much more reasonable! I am so happy with their recommendations and can't wait to have them in my yard. I cannot say enough good things about this place. I was trying to check out another nursery in the area, but despite saying it was open when I got there the gates were closed. So I pulled up yelp and this place popped up. HOLY. CRAP. Plants as far as the eye can see, and beautiful, healthy specimens at that! I feel like the pricing was wonderful too, especially since the plants I were buying were HUGE and very well established. My husband and I will be coming back here this weekend to pick out more stuff for our garden. I went looking specifically for ornamental grasses and they had everything I was looking for and more! They have roughly 10 acres, so I would plan to spend a little time here, however most of their stuff in pots is all towards the front of the lot. I think the rest is trees but I didn't have time to look through it all! Love this place. Wish I could give it 10 stars. Thanks Greenfield! read more

Yesterday was my first time going to buy plants, as I'm new to the area. I will never go back to Greenfield. I bought two plants there yesterday. I was unsure where to pay for them so I asked the only person I could find. She spoke very little English but we agreed on a price of TEN DOLLARS before she took my card and disappeared around the corner. I felt I could trust her because the nursery seemed to be very well established. I just happened to check my bank account balance for something different and see that I was charged TWELVE DOLLARS, not ten! It's a really bad idea to take advantage of a customer's trust. This is truly a gem of a place tucked away in San Martin. I don't recall how we discovered it, but I'm certainly glad we did. This is not your typical chain nursery/garden supply. Far from it. This is a real mom and pop place; actually, I think it's just pop. He lives on the property. There is nothing fancy about this place. No gift shop, no store front, no paved walkways. They just sell awesome, quality plants at what seems like wholesale prices. Know what you want when you come here. Nothing is marked. It looks like the owner propagates a lot of his own stuff. You don't get those nifty little white tags that tell you how to feed and water. What you do get are amazing plants that are a whole lot larger than you find at the other places. And not only that, they are a whole lot less money too. There is an incredible selection of tropicals here. If you want palm trees, this is where to get them. Banana plants, cannas, giant bird of paradise; you want it, it's probably here. This place goes on and on. There are literally acres of plants and trees here. Wear your garden clogs when you come as you are going to be doing a lot of walking and it can be pretty muddy. If I'm in need of serious landscaping, this is the first and last place I'll need to go to get it. read more

Wow! This is by far the best nursery we've been to when it comes to selection, service and price. A true tri-fecta. We purchased a mature tree in a 25 gal box, they delivered and planted the tree for about half what we would have paid for the tree alone at most places we had been looking. read more

This nursery is humungous & they have stuff like guava, avocado and orange trees. The owners are Vietnamese so they do offer a lot of tropical fruit trees that are more common in tropical areas like Vietnam. We got an avocado tree for $80. It's a haas dwarf avocado tree. I'll update the review once and if they fruit. I learned from the owner that for certain types of avocado trees, you need two side by side for the tree to fruit (how romantic). The owners have owned this space for 17 years. They have two large dogs on the property that are really friendly and stay out your way. I was enjoying watching one roll around on his back on a sunny day. You can pay cash and get a discount. read more

Oh my, where do I begin. I relied on my fellow Yelpers to guide me to a good nursery that was wroth the drive from San Jose. What a disappointment and a mess. This place is terribly run down. While I do know that the nursery business is tough and thin margins, there is simply no excuse for this place even being open to the public. Wholesale buyers will be even more disappointed at the quality of materials here. I have never seen so much standing water in a nursery. And this was not a leak or a temporary problem - the water has been sitting there so long that duckweed is growing everywhere. Aside from water plants, this is just not good for most potted materials. This is especially bad for natives or drought tolerant plants. I was astonished at the number of plants sitting around in terrible states - weeds, fallen over, broken plant boxes on 24" and larger material. Some of these are potentially expensive trees if properly cared for, but it seemed they lacked an understanding of simple basic organizational skills. The only good thing - if you like escargot you have a good chance of getting some free snails with your purchase. Just remember, they may take over your garden as well. I cannot recommend this place for anything. There are way better nurseries for both wholesale and retail. read more

We just moved here from south San Jose and have had little experience with large nurseries like this place. My mom is an avid garner, It was a bit confusing at first on how things were done, but once we found where to go (office), rang the ring doorbell, I met the owner who told us to feel free to look around and grab what plants we want (or if heavy then come back to the office and ask for assistance). The owner was also out and about on his vehicle a little bit later on and checked in on us whenever he passed us by. We did have to look for him when we were ready to check out, which took a few minutes of walking around but gave my mom another excuse to look at more plants again! We liked this nursery, but typically we like to do our own heavy lifting and enjoy going through the place at our own pace. If you prefer more hand holding and someone following you nearby to ask you if you need help every few minutes, this place might not be for you. If you enjoy looking over various plants and trees, don't mind a little heavy lifting, then this is a great place to check out! read more

We live in San Martin, so this is a neighborhood business. And its about as good as it gets. We showed up at 4:40 on a Sunday, walked around the lot and found the proprietor running his skid steer around. He walked us through the inventory, found us several Colorado Blue Spruce to pick from and then he and his petite wife wrestled our selection out, loaded it into the pickup and rang up the transaction all in a pleasant and smooth manner. I love this nursery, they have everything and know everything. Also, they raise all their plants outdoors such as their Japanese Maples which is not a full sun tree. When you buy plants like maples at Home Deport and other chains, they are raised in a greenhouse and have difficulties surviving/growing when placed outside in a yard or burn quickly from the sun because they are so accustomed to the greenhouse. Also, for those that think the chain stores are cheaper, I disagree. Especially when you buy in bulk, I got bigger healthier plants and trees from these guys for less than what chain stores had to offer and chain stores don't have 24, 30 and 36 gallon trees. A one stop shop for ALL your planting needs - trees/flowers, you name it. - Tom an awesome guy,very patient, very pragmatic and helps you choose the right trees/plants. He also gives great tips. In fact he also stayed on even though it was quite late and patiently helped us through our questions. - Excellent variety within a type of fruit tree or plant - Not too crowded - Great prices. He is a wholesaler who likes to sell it to retail folks too. Minor con: - Some have mentioned that it is not necessarily clean. Decided to go with this Nursery based on the reviews. On the phone Tom Junior (son of the owner) quoted to sell three, 60 gallon Aptos Blue for $350 and install it for 30% of the price of tree with one year warranty. When we went there the guy says he cannot keep the deal and said that he lied to make us drive down to their nursery & thought that we were not really serious about buying. After some haggling he agreed to sell the trees for the agreed price but raised the installation price to 50% and one warranty with condition of automatic drip system installed. 4 days later Tom Jr and his couple of guys came by started digging the hole for the tree and broke the electric cable and water pipe running underneath to the valve. Instead of fixing or apologizing it he started blaming the quality of pipe and the electrical cable. At the end he said that he cannot give warranty since the irrigation system is not working. Never ever recommend to work with this Nursery. And even if you buy plants here, never go with their installation service. TERRIBLE and STRESSFUL experience. read more

I have to admit they have alot of plants. If your looking for small plants like small shrubs or bushes its a good place to go. If your looking for bigger plants this place is expensive.... I dont know but asking for 50 dollars for a bannana plant seemed a little bit off to me. I guess id rather buy my plants from home depot, osh or maybe johnsons because of the guarantee on the plant. Anyhow, if your in the area its worth a look. I'm always a little bit weary about places that dont have their prices posted.... makes room to negotiate or be ripped off... So make sure you know your pricing before you go... The seemed like nice people intially i walked in and a woman approached me and i asked for something that flowers and smells great. She walked down the rows with me then she said let me call my husband... and to continue looking at what i wanted.... Ooh one more thing if you go there make sure you wear your worst shoes ever.. its like a swamp... so i went down the path and entered into a little green house then i realized my feet were sinking into the mud... the guy came up and i asked him about how much the banana plants were and he said 50 dollars and then a guava plant which was 35 dollars... Maybe its the right price but honestly that seemed a little off to me for some reason... It wasnt like it was a giant tree or anything....Anyhow like i said before if you know the prices you could get a better deal but im pretty sure if something goes wrong your gonna hit a wall....
