Amazing work by Clinton and his team. I couldn't be happier. No BS, no scheming tactics. He was a man of his word, had everything installed and turned on under 3 weeks. Other solar companies were quoting 3-5 months before permission to turn on. Clinton and his team did a fantastic job setting up the panels, arranging them to look clean, and educating me about differences in Solar. We are beyond happy with our 9.6 kW system and would recommend everyone go to him. Fantastic job!

This was a great experience. Clint and his team had our solar system installed and connected to the grid five weeks from signing the agreement. His crew was courteous and very professional. Clinton answered all my questions. Couldn't be happier.

Clinton will insult you if you don't allow him to be rude to you.

I was in the market for solar panels on my house and did extensive research before calling this company. I told the man I spoke with exactly what I wanted and he tried to steer me to a different product. I tried to explain to him that I had already done my research and knew exactly what I wanted, but he cut me off mid sentence several times. I let him know his rudeness lost him a potential customer. Edit: I am appalled that a retired veteran is trying to twist the facts. I read his email and did not want to buy Qcell solar panels that he kept pushing like a used car salesman. I asked for a quote for Panasonic panels which are far superior to what he was pushing me to buy. Panasonic solar panels are superior to QCells for the following reasons.1. They are more efficient which is important when you have limited space on your south facing roof. 2. Try degrade less quickly that QCells, which means they will produce more power for more years. This is when he cut me off and said that Panasonic no longer builds their own panels, but is "white labeling" solar panels built by another company. He got mad when I told him that many companies do that. Kenmore appliances are built by Maytag, Kirkland tires were made by Michelin, Goldstar (now LG) used to make TVs for Sony. Just because QCells is the solar panel that most people buy does not make them superior to Panasonic. More people buy Chevrolet than Cadillac. Does that make a Chevy better than Cadillac? If he didn't want to install what I wanted he could have simply said "we can't do that". Instead of being rude and cutting off a potential customer. Now he resorts to calling me a "quote collector". He also states in his response that homeowners do not have the right to say which solar panel goes on their roof. I'm a 25 year retired Army Veteran that has the money to pay in cash for my solar panel project. This guy thinks he is still in the Navy and can talk down to potential customers like they were junior Sailors. Beware any company that resorts to name calling when someone disagrees with them! CLINTON DOES A GOOD JOB TARNISHING HIS OWN IMAGE WITHOUT MY HELP. Edit Edit: I changed my one star review to two stars. A Salesman named Tyler reached out to me yesterday and was genuinely trying to make things right with me. Even though we only talked on the telephone he really seemed like a good down to earth guy that was really trying to make this situation better. It is for this reason and this reason alone that I changed my review. Thank you Tyler and I wish you all the best in your future endeavors.

Johnson Solar is hands down the best company out there! I can't begin to explain but, they deserve the best we can give back. It's really old school service and hard working employees. We called with a few questions and the next day Clinton was out first thing in the morning to give us a price and explain all the details. Within 24 hours our panels were in place running backwards in rabbit mode. That's why I say old school service, that's the working ethics of yesteryear. It's so nice not to have to worry about what hours are the best to use electricity to keep the bill down. Electric car, air conditioners and all the rest, and the bill is still a negative (which is a positive for the pocketbook) balance. It's weird how they work so happily together. Thank you, so very much Clinton and staff for the elite craftsmanship, customer service and prompt working ethics. The word of mouth is still the best bet for hands on craftsmanship and you can bet your bottom dollar that we'll tell everyone to go to the best, Johnson Solar! :)

Don't hesitate to choose Johnson Solar! Clinton is upfront, direct, and expedient. I live in a HOA community and have a clay tile roof that needed new underlayment. Clinton solar reroofed and installed solar panels cheaper than than the competition. Believe me I checked. Including both SolarSage and all the top rated San Diego Yelp results. Clinton is the real deal. I contacted him 11/11/20 and by 12/15/20, SDGE granted me a net metering agreement. Yes that is basically 1 month from my 1st contact with Clinton to me: 1. Spending a week getting other quotes equivalent to what Clinton proposed and realized he was beating the competition 2. To Clinton removing clay tile roof 3. To Clinton Installing new underlayment 4. To Clinton Reinstalling clay tile roof 5. To Clinton Installing 22 LG panels with microphase inverters *recessed in a low profile manner into the clay tiles* 6. To the project passing final SDGE inspection. He abided by my HOA rules and all was smooth and efficient. No hassles, no surprises, no mistakes. The crew always left the home in a clean presentable manner each day they finished. Clinton was true to his word with pricing, timing, and quality of work. Top notch. A genuine pleasure to do business with. Clinton follows through with details and communicates back with you quickly. Have confidence on a job done excellently the right way while still being efficient with time for an extremely competitive price when choosing Johnson Solar.

Clinton helped me out with a 5k solar system. I really appreciated how quickly he was able to get plans approved , panels ordered and installed. Total turnaround was 15 days from contact to getting permission from SDG&E to operate. That's insanely fast. Highly recommend Johnson Solar. Thanks Clinton for all your help

TIMELY- Uriel called 30 min before his arrival and then, arrived at the stated time. This is particularly helpful so I can move my bunny to another room with all of his belongings. ATTENTION TO DETAIL - I saw him place a protective cloth down on the floor before he placed the ladder and tools down. I also noticed there was a bottle of cleaner with his supplies. He cleaned the inside vents as well as the compressor on the roof. He also tied off a loose wire/when checking the air handler in the ceiling. KNOWLEDGEABLE and THROROUGH - Uriel did a complete system check and then, he sat down with me to explain what was done and why. He addressed the concerns I had about some of the prior readings in terms that I could understand and shared tips that will help ensure my system runs at its most efficient. Example: A higher MERV doesn't always mean "better" and can actually restrict the airflow. He said that for my particular system I should use a MERV10 filter and change it every 3 months. He changed my filters and then, left me with two spares to use before the fall check comes. FRIENDLY - In the course of chatting with Uriel, it came up that I might benefit from having more filtered air coming into my condo. He made a recommendation for a part that would replace the standalone room air purifier I currently use. He placed this info into the after-visit summary so I can "research it and see if it fits with my needs and finances." There was zero pressure to make a purchase on the spot. And while this next item has nothing to do with the knowledge or ability of an HVAC tech, I greatly appreciate that he did NOT smell like cigarette / e-cigarette smoke or strong cologne as I have a bunny and people in my family have asthma. Thank you, Uriel, for a job well done.

As someone who relies on word-of-mouth reputation and customer service for my own personal business, this company fails across the board. 1) We had an issue with our solar panels so we called Solar Tech first thing in the morning. The phone operator told us we would get a call back from one of the techs later on that day. FIVE days went by before we even got a response back, and it was in the form of a text message asking us what problems we were having. If a customer is calling you for help, the last thing you should do is make them wait almost a week to get a response, and then have them explain to you what is wrong over text. Very poor professionalism. STRIKE 1. 2) The tech told us the next available appointment was 1 full week away, so not only did we wait FIVE full days for a text response, but we had to wait another full week for any resolution of service. STRIKE 2 3) The day of our appointment, thankfully, we had the first appointment of the day scheduled as we had a very busy day with other obligations so we were hoping to have everything completed by mid morning. After about 4 hours of the company no-show/no-call/no-text, we decided to call the company to find out the status of our appointment. We got a voicemail instead of someone live, so we left a message. A few hours later we finally got a call back saying someone will show up later that day. And they did finally show up at the very end of the workday. STRIKE 3 This was a very VERY disappointing experience. From poor follow up, poor customer service, and just a poor company all around. For someone like me, my sales/service business relies heavy on customer service. I've provided 1000s of recommendations and referrals of vendors for roofing, plumbing, solar, electrical work and more over the last 20 years, and i can say that I will never recommend this company as their lack of customer service would reflect very poorly on me and my business. The last thing I would ever want to do is upset a client or customer as they are the backbone of any business.

They sent Travis out promptly, who is their electrician where he found that the issue was resolved by replacing a faulty 40-amp breaker that was intermittently providing the necessary voltage, even though measurements initially appear correct. While the breaker issue caused real inconvenience and unexpected costs on my end, the owner was responsive and showed willingness to smooth things over to work toward a resolution. I also want to highlight that the panel upgrade and solar/battery installation itself was clean and well done. The workmanship that Eddie, Manny, Christian and Jamie performed had overall met my expectations, and once the issue was identified, Sunline did step in to correct it. No project is perfect, but how a company responds when problems arise matters a lot. In this case, Sunline's owner and Eric was engaged, responsive, and made a sincere effort to make things right. As an engineer, and after witnessing the symptoms and corrective actions firsthand, I believe the breaker issue was likely a manufacturing defect, and it was unfortunate that it occurred during the holidays. That said, based on how Sunline handled the situation, the overall quality of their work, and the value they offer, I would recommend them and plan to continue using them for future needs.

SHS was the 4th company to come out to the house and the only one that had the equipment brands I had heard about and that could move things along at a decent pace. They are a full-service energy company, not just solar and batteries. The company is veteran owned. When Blake first came to the house, I thanked him for his service. Blake, Nate, and Ralphy are incredible! They installed one 14kwh battery (See photo). Glad I didn't have to lift it! The whole system can go outside too. It was going to be too close to my trash cans so I asked for it to be inside. My home was built in 1993, and you wouldn't believe what a mess Ralphy had to sort out in the Challenger service panel (circuit breaker box). What a rat's nest. Now it's clean and tidy with all new breakers. They helped me avoid installing those "Solar Ready" panels for $4100. I had my heart set on EG4 electronics inverters and batteries. SHS knows that product like the back of their hands. The equipment is hardened against EMPs. I hope never to test that! But it feels good to have. And during power outages, my family will be comfortable with lights, intranet, and AC (until it "load sheds" at 50% battery remaining). I chose the best reviewed solar panel to put on the roof - REC Alpha Pure RX. Ridiculously performant. More than anyone needs to spend to get the job done, really. Their warranty tech said that the expansion was not installed correctly as the exisiting breaker for the PW3 should have been upsized; what a crock of shit since the expansion pack does not increase the peak load on the circuit rather it only doubles the stored power available. The system had been working normally for almost 2 months and then has randomly disabled DC inputs; most likely an electronics issue with the PW3. Sunlight will lie and deny at any cost. The worst part is that they initially installed conduit incorrectly. Then tried to refuse to come fix it even though I had pointed out the problem during the install. Then when they fixed the conduit they took my system offline becasue the wired it incorrectly. Then when they fixed the wiring issue they didn't install the main panel cover correctly and the cover interfers with the breakers. IF they try to sell you EP Cube solar, there are two issues I am dealing with. 1. the fan turns on every morning, rain or shine at 6:15am. My battery is right outside my bedroom and wakes me up. It is how the system works and it can't and won't be changed. 2. the fan runs ALL day. It might stop for a short bit but basically it runs continually during the warm part of the day. 3. I am happy to report it is quiet at night. When I shared my experience and concerns with E Z, I was pretty much ghosted except by Max. Dealing with EP Cube support has been great. But it is what it is. AND finally, don't let them talk you out of Solar Insure - the company that will insure you system. I got amazing assistance from them while I was trying to understand the noise issue. I was "told" I didn't need it but it was the smartest thing I did. Good luck !
