Sunlight Solar does a great job from start to finish, designing and installing residential solar.

SunLies is now denying warranty because I had a third-party (tesla certified installer) install an expansion pack on my system. There is liteterally a federal law that says using a third-party installer does not void a warranty, unless the original installer/manufacturer can prove that the third part directly caused the warranty issue. Their warranty tech said that the expansion was not installed correctly as the exisiting breaker for the PW3 should have been upsized; what a crock of shit since the expansion pack does not increase the peak load on the circuit rather it only doubles the stored power available. The system had been working normally for almost 2 months and then has randomly disabled DC inputs; most likely an electronics issue with the PW3. Sunlight will lie and deny at any cost. The worst part is that they initially installed conduit incorrectly. [[HIGHLIGHT]]Then tried to refuse to come fix it even though I had pointed out the problem during the install.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Then when they fixed the conduit they took my system offline becasue the wired it incorrectly. Then when they fixed the wiring issue they didn't install the main panel cover correctly and the cover interfers with the breakers. They do subpar work and then make up things about the work done by others to try and void your warranty. What a sleezeball company - avoid at any cost!!! Guess they are willing to roll the dice with a law suit on voiding the warranty! read more

We had our roof & Solar installed Oct 2023 by this company, it was not cheap, had to take a loan to pay for, still paying. We already have had issues with the roof & had to request from the company another roofer (not initial roofer) come out May 2024. The roofer did admit to some issues and he fixed what he could, he was really good. I want to be sure this does not affect our solar either. However, since May he was supposed to come back for follow up & he never did. I wish I could have given a better review. The first time we worked with Sunlight for our solar, we had no issues. They were straightforward with us, provided advice for financing, and have not had an issue with our solar. However, we never received instructions on how to make sure our solar is working properly. Despite that, we did meet with them again to look at replacing the windows in our house. Not only did we replace the windows, but we also had our house repainted. We received a good deal, but had some issues after with the communication and updates with the salesman, and when the work would be completed. It did end up taking longer than we were told, but it looks great. Then came the real shock and disappointment. We went with the financing recommended by the salesman, and we seemed rushed to get the paperwork completed. We were not told that once the job was complete, we would have to wait 30 days to pay off the financing, and it would take many phone calls between different companies to get it done. Once we waited the 30 days, we then had to call and request a "call number." The call number took until the second week of November (the house was completed on the first of October), and then we had to request a payoff amount. When I was told how much we owe, I was so surprised and upset that I had to leave work for the rest of the day. The amount due was, of course, the price we were given, and an additional 7,000 dollars for fees and interest. We did not budget for that additional cost. When I reached out to the salesman, because he recommended this financing to us, he was not sympathetic to the amount owed and said he just recommended the company, and we didn't have to use them. I hung up on him and texted him not to contact me anymore. I was beside myself with that type of service. I will never use this company again and will no longer recommend them to my neighbors. read more

It was a pleasure working with Sunlight Solar on getting a new roof and solar system. When broken down into individual components their pricing was the most competitive on the roof and solar front. I was hesitant to sign up this close to the end of the tax break because I had experienced contractors who did not live up to their word on timelines and I was afraid that they might put me on the backburner. Their follow-up was a great feature. We just had our one-year true-up with SDGE. We produced slightly more energy than we used for the year, resulting in minimum fees and a high rate of return on our investment. after reviewing my annual true up electric bill, I decided I might look into the possibility of acquiring additional solar panels or even a battery back up system. Sunlight solar was there for me in a short time and arraigned a meeting at a convenient time the next day. I also followed up with the requested information the secretary had asked me to submit, which was attaching a copy of the true up bill to the email that was sent to me so that the associate could review it beforehand. when the meeting took place we reviewed the details of my system and the so explaining my position with regards to outlay cost of a battery storage versus cost recovery by way of my personal electrical usage.
