See pics for proof But I will say this the owner contacted me and apologized for this awful experience. I really appreciate and respect that. He offered to reimburse me for this experience and I respect that. He looked into the issue and he took accountability and that's not common. So I really appreciate how this situation was handled. I will still warn everyone to always get a second opinion and be careful out there. I will be giving them another chance as long as this situation never happens again.

On the hottest day of the summer his crew installed our solar panels and Powerwall with limited power interruptions. They cleaned up before they left leaving no trace of being there. You cost me over $2000 due to loss of 30% tax credit for that upgrade and me having to dump $1000 to replace the zinsco breakers in a desperate effort to make it safer. He's one of the rare solar professionals who truly cares about his customers rather than just making a sale. Chad, Ian, and the rest of the installation team did a meticulous job installing both the solar panels and batteries, all within a tight timeline. The quality of their work really shows--see the attached photos for yourself. As I'm writing this at night, my home is running entirely off the Enphase batteries with zero power being pulled from the grid, which really highlights how well the system is performing. Another company had a rep come over and she didn't know jack about solar - she was mainly a realtor doing it as another income source. He gave both of us a great feeling and was competitively priced. We liked that he keeps things simple and just installs the best, didn't try to upsell us when he could've, and wasn't "salesy" or high-pressure. Glad we hired him. We've had the solar for months and still happy.

I wanted my solar up and running before Dec 2025 and they did make it happen. Michael did the installation and was amazing. Here is my warning. IF they try to sell you EP Cube solar, there are two issues I am dealing with. 1. the fan turns on every morning, rain or shine at 6:15am. My battery is right outside my bedroom and wakes me up. It is how the system works and it can't and won't be changed. 2. the fan runs ALL day. It might stop for a short bit but basically it runs continually during the warm part of the day. 3. I am happy to report it is quiet at night. When I shared my experience and concerns with E Z, I was pretty much ghosted except by Max. Dealing with EP Cube support has been great. But it is what it is. AND finally, don't let them talk you out of Solar Insure - the company that will insure you system. I got amazing assistance from them while I was trying to understand the noise issue. I was "told" I didn't need it but it was the smartest thing I did. Good luck !

After 9 months of our solar and powerwall system working fine it suddenly failed to generate power…read moreand load up the powerwalls (pw 3). This is the beginning of summer and now we need to pay our utility extra to power our home. When we bought the system, we were impressed with the sales personnel responding to our text and email so quickly. They also had good reviews. At the time we were new to buying a solar energy system, so we were nervous about choosing the right company. We also wanted to take advantage of the federal credit, so weren't as diligent as we normally would be. Three weeks ago, our system stopped working. We called customer service and filed a request for service. I received an email saying that they would look into the problem and get back to us in 24 hours. Another red flag is that a ticket number was never offered and didn't know it existed. Later on, I learned this was needed for tracking. A day passed and all we heard were crickets. I responded to the email after 24 hours. Crickets. In fact, looking at all email conversations with customer service, not once did they respond to my requests for status. When I called two days later. They said they would submit it to the project team. We are starting over? Again, 24 hours of crickets. I called again and finally got connected with someone that looked into the problem only to be told that I needed to turn on Service Mode on the app so they could monitor the system. Ok, I probably could have known that, but seriously they could have reminded me of this almost a week earlier on the first call. Another 24 hours passed, more crickets. I then recruited my wife to help with this problem, and we made another phone call. She asked for a supervisor, and we were promised one would call us the next day, but you know what, we got crickets. After 48 hours after my wife's call the system was operating. We have no clue who or how it was fixed. An email requesting information about the cause and resolution was only answered by crickets. The system worked for 6 days then failed. Again, I tried calling customer service. Same response as the first call, an email and crickets. Standard form emails, "It was a pleasure speaking with you today..." or "I am very pleased I was able to assist you...". It's not service it's a system for delaying service. So basically, it turns out customer service is actually an answering service. I found out there was no way to directly contact the company. When we asked for a supervisor, we got an answering service supervisor. If we knew how poor customer service was and how difficult it was for Semper to honor the warranty commitments, we would have chosen another company. The latest is that they determined an onsite visit was needed, not just virtual monitoring. Via email they sent a response that they couldn't reach my wife. My wife didn't catch the call but instead got the voice message "Press 1 for this... Press 2 for this ... " . Of course, this is the second time this has happened to us. Rather than try multiple times to call us and make contact the issue resolution stops with an email from them and no response to our email, as well as, us calling customer service and continuing the run around. Again more emails and customer service interaction. Finally, the latest is we received a call from an account manager at Semper. She took down some information and said she would call back with an appointment date and time for the onsite visit. She did say she would try to make an appointment sooner. She called back within 5 minutes with a date and time. After a month we finally will get someone onsite. And who knows how much longer it is if replacement parts must be ordered and installed. To get to this point it took a lot of assertive discussions about lawsuits. Lesson about our journey with solar: 1) Before you sign the contract make sure you have all the contact information of the owner (email, phone, cell) or an actual supervisor you can escalate an issue when customer service fails you. 2) Get at least three quotes. 3) Do your homework. It's very hard to compare systems because each will offer a different product. What's most important is maximum kwH of solar power it can generate (perfect conditions) and the kwH battery capacity. 4) Fight for 1.5 capacity for panels and battery. This permission must be requested from the utility company (EV will completely drain your home battery, especially if you have more than one). Afterwards upgrades are less cost effective. 5) re-read this review and ask the company you hire how they would do things differently if you need to exercise the warranty.

Minas was the head installer it seemed (all people are internal employees with Aloha and work is NOT contracted out, that was a big seller for us), and two other guys Rigo and Matt. All were super nice and very professional. Minas walked me through everything at the end, and major bonus points once he installed the piping going from battery to roof, he asked if I had paint that matched the exterior of my house. I did, and he then painted all of the piping! I know he did not have to do that, so that was a fantastic touch. My house still had the original, gross insulation from the 1950s, and Brian and his crew came in and completely removed everything, cleaned and sanitized the entire attic, and installed new R-38 batt insulation. After recommending him to other people for so long, it was great to finally experience their work firsthand. Brian and his team were awesome. They showed up when they said they would, worked hard, kept everything clean, and did a really thorough job. You can tell they actually care about the quality of their work and aren't just trying to get in and out as quickly as possible. I'm extremely happy with how everything turned out and feel even better about all the people I've referred to him over the years. I'll definitely continue recommending Brian and his team to anyone who needs insulation or attic work. Great people, great work, and a company I'm happy to support. Oleg, Pasadena, CA. Sunlight Solar, Inc. - I live in Pasadena, CA and I am California and Maryland Professional Engineer (Railroad Automatic Train Control). Since I have installed my first 30 Solar Panel in 2011, - I have experience on this matter and also have another company I can compare the Sunlight Solar, Inc with. Already in 2011, I have realized that the Power produced by my 30 Panel is not enough to satisfy my house needs. However, for sure, I was NOT ready to deal with another similar project. Sergio, the Sunlight Solar representative had set up a meeting with me, and was so professional and knowledgeable that convinced me at least to listen to him to the end. After he suggested me absolutely great (financially) deal I decide to install another 20, - 300 Watt LG Solar Panel with individual micro inverters, upgrade my Main Service Panel and install new Service sub-Panel (by Sunlight Solar). During all phases of the project I have met or contacted many company personnel, - starting with the President of the company Jeff Carelli and Operational Manager Sue Ruocco (the lady who spent more time than anybody else helping me to resolve different problems), Filed Manager Andrew Roche and also with all three Field crews, - Jose, Sean, Perry, Joe. Absolutely all of them showed me high level of professionalism, (1), (which is the most important part of the business). All work, including obtaining legal city permits was completed in the timely manner, per very convenient to me schedule (2). During different stages of the project, I experienced a few problems (mainly due to bureaucracy of the city of Pasadena office, changing Pasadena rebate amount, etc.). Sunlight Solar was very cooperative to help me to resolve all these issues in timely manner including splitting with me unexpected additional costs (3). All work was performed very neat and with respect to the Federal and Pasadena Electrical Codes (4). Also, the field crew always spent a little more time overachieving the set up goals (5), - usually exceeding my expectations. The only problem was that it took a little more time to complete the project than I've been expecting. However, I do not consider it the Sunlight Solar, Inc. fault. Based on all said above I would highly recommend to use the Sunlight Solar, Inc company for your Solar Power needs. May, 25 2016 - In addition to what I've said before to everybody who has two Solar Systems I would highly recommend to merge them and monitor them together. It is possible the Enphase Microinverters from both systems (old and new) to be shown on the same system Monitoring/Production array. It is very convenient. The Sunlight Solar, Inc helped me to go through this process and in addition to working with their (New) system they updated my previous (Old) system, which was not in the scope of their contract. December 3, 2018 To Whom This May Concern: My name is John D. Dauz. I am 82 years old and a U.S. Navy Veteran. My first contact with Sunlight Solar Inc. started when my daughter-in-law Elizabeth Dauz brought to my home on September 22, 2018, your Solar Consultant James Gregory. James made his presentation so professionally and effectively that I signed the Home Improverment Agreement before he left that same day. As the solar installation is just recently activated and its performance still to be gaged, I am 100% convinced that my decision in choosing Sunlight Solar Inc. over several others because it turned out that Sunlight Solar is the most honest business entity, large or small, that I have ever dealt with. First, before I will be more specific, I commend the staff and work crew of Sunlight for their outstanding job on the project and in particular Ms. Roxanna Rojas who with her expertise patiently and skillfully guided me through the tedious paperwork process with her counterparts from the lending source, Energy Loan Network's Ms. Daniela Regalado and Los Angeles Federal Credit Union. Now, why I am awarding you the maximum Five Stars Plus Special 6th Star: The Home Improvement Agreement I signed on 9-22-2018 for the contract price of $23,600 is clear and clean and does not provide for refund or credit for unneeded material or services. Then on 11-7-2018, 45 days later, a Sunlight representative personally delivered to me an Agreement Addendum that reads, quoting in full: "Sunlight Solar Inc. has determined after site check and engineering review that a RMA is not required. As a result the price of the solar project has changed from $23,600 to $22,274. All other details remain the same." Unquote. Sunlight's HONESTY saves me the amount of $1,326 right then and there. I do not even know what RMA means. While I appreciate the significant reduction which I would never had known absent Sunlight's honesty, I feel that it did not have to do this based on the contract. Their engineering review also tells me how meticulously and passionately their professionals are toward their work. In view of the above, I want to give its 6th Star, the stand alone distinct star which I created for their HONESTY. My husband and i felt it was the right thing to do, write a review. As of today we have no complaints, but only have rave reviews for Sunlight Solar Inc. The start of this project to finish, we have received nothing but professional service from this company. From sales to the finish product, all we can say is, "We are extremely satisfied!" Our sales rep was a gentleman, knowledgeable, and pleasurable to work with. Any questions or help we always had Sergio (our Rep) to reach out to. From the drafting of the plans to finish product, was nothing but perfection. The technicians that installed our solar equipment worked in a very professional work like manner and finished our installation quickly, before completion date. This company goes above and beyond! It was not enough for Sunlight to install tubing (electrical conduit) they also spray paint to match the finish of our stucco exterior wall of our home. I felt this was a bonus which we did not expect. We have seen other companies installation and the sliver tubing was left as is. :( Not aesthetically pleasing at all. All vertical and horizontal lines of the product that were attached to are home are seamless, measured perfectly, properly labeled, and symmetrically balanced. This company does cleanup daily, and a thorough cleanup at the end of the project. All we can say for all those who are thinking solar, my best advice is to go with SUNLIGHT SOLAR INC. Rest a sure you will have no drama, headaches or worries in the end. They will help you every inch of the way, guide you and give you a better understanding of the product you have just purchased. We had a great experience with Sunlight Solar for the installation of solar panels on my home. From start to finish, the entire process was a breeze thanks to the excellent service provided by this company. Firstly, I was impressed with how easy they were to work with. We got quotes from 6 different companies and Sunlight was by far the best. The team at Sunlight Solar was friendly, knowledgeable, and always willing to answer any questions I had about the solar panel installation process. I heavily shopped solar before i selected Sunlight Solar. Their rep, Sergio, was no nonsense of a preconvieved plan that was best for me. after hearing several sales presentations, i knew my plan of action. Sergio,started getting in step with what I had in mind and put a plan together to get to Net Zero Metering. We agreed on a price and it included the panel upgrade that I wanted even thought he found out that it was not compulsory for my application. He offered several payment options and we moved forward. My wife expressed the panels be in specific areas on the roof to optimize curb appeal for the house. The city chose to not permit the panels we had prescribed for the back of the house which reduced our panel count and therefore would not meet Net Zero. Sergio counter offered some more powerful panels that got us very close to Net Zero and did so at the less powerful panel price. Dan and the installation crew set the panels to the optimum design on the roof to get max efficiency from the investment. All of the ridig was painted to match the roof tiles and the house making them blend nicely. When it came time to get the panel labeled, they worked with me to be sure i got it labeled in a fashion that made sense in spite of the patterns of the legs going to multiple rooms. The inspections came and went and we are now producing power with great monitoring tools, Charlton sent me some techincal aspects of the conditions that affect production and it was very enlightening to get that comprehensive information about the investment. My wife and I moved to our current location 26 years ago. We are pretty far off the beaten path. We immediately considered solar for our electrical needs. As we investigated the particulars of what the system would entail, it became obvious that the different bidding contractors were over bidding our needs. Over a period of twenty four years, we were approached by twelve different companies. Each approached the project in the same way. Then, we were contacted by Sunlight Solar. The sales representative, Charlton Johnson, was very direct in his approach. He was the first, of many reps, that looked at all of the physical aspects of our home. He had an understanding of the weather conditions that made our home a bit different from most others. We live on the side of a mountain. The home was a bit small, so his calculations determined that we only needed nine panels, not the sixteen that were always recommended by the previous companies. Mr. Johnson explained the HERO Project financing, which made the decision much easier. After we signed the purchase agreement, Mr. Johnson returned with one of the installation technicians to ensure that Mr. Johnson's considerations were correct. Every aspect of the installation occurred on schedule. When the County inspector came to approve the installation, he mentioned that he was surprised at how smoothly everything had gone. My wife and I are so pleased with the Sunlight Solar team that we feel they are like family. What a blessing their solar team has been. Now, we're waiting for our compensation from SDG&E for our over-generated electrical energy. read more

We had Sunlight Solar install a 4.2kw system on our house back in October of last year in Long Beach CA. We chose them because they were the first to come out and recommend a system over 4kw that had efficient panels (almost 19%) and with microinverters. Two other companies had recommended systems about half the size with lower efficiency panels and a single inverter. Once I signed the the agreement I was surprised how quickly the process goes. The system was installed with almost no effort on our part. It was very easy. There were only a couple of relatively small issues. The first was that on two occasions they came out unannounced so a little bit of a communications issue when you need to plan to be home to get give access and put the dog in the house. The second was the tie in to the electrical panel was too close to the box but they fixed it after I pointed it out. They worked with me on how I wanted it setup and the install came out really nice. So overall I would rate them as very good to excellent so far. I say "so far" because the system was sized to cover almost all my power. And with the way Net Metering works I really can't say that for sure until the first year is up. But so far so good. I'm not an expert but it looks like the panels and parts they used are the some of the best you can choose. The system is performing well and I'm a happy customer. read more

Amazing!!! I had seen some of the work Sunlight Solar had done in my neighborhood in the past couple of years and I was impressed and decided that when the time came for me to have work done on my house, that I would go to Sunlight Solar. I finally called Sunlight Solar to get an estimate on a new roof. James Gregory came out and gave me a ton of details on the roofing materials that Sunlight uses to install a top quality roof. I really appreciated all the details. So they got to work quick and removed one roof and found a second roof underneath (who knew?). The crew also repaired a couple of spots that had rotted through the years, but did Not "adjust the price" because James had already noticed the issues! So, NO SURPRISES! Because of Sunlight Solar's experience and knowledge. They installed Owen's Corning TruDef Duration Cool shingles and my house looks sharp! So great that we did the windows because I'd been wanting double-paned windows for a while. I should have had them include the front door because the house looks so crisp! And modern and sharp! After searching and trying to figure out when and where to purchase my Solar system, I selected Sunlight Solar after many interviews with various Solar companies that wanted the SALE, and I have been very happy with my decision. The sales team was very detailed in their explanation of my needs and quality of the panels that were available to purchase. I am a Broker in the mortgage industry and have been there for thirty years. I deal with a lot of salespeople in different industries and can often get a feel as to where their greater interests are, whether it be for their benefit of the company, or for me, the customer. Sunlight Solar did an expansion for us from a previously installed solar system from another company, and we are VERY HAPPY we switched to them for part two of our solar adventure. Having previously been through the process with another company made us deeply appreciate Sunlight's straightforward, fact-based discussion and recommendations, willingness to incorporate the old panels into a new expanded system, and timely scheduling. The install was painless, and the best part has been the customer care afterward. Charlton in particular has been extremely responsive to small issues such as us having to change our wireless system and not being able to connect back with the internet based monitoring system. But the best thing ever was his response to the recent rainy season -- as it started to rain we discovered a roof leak! Charlton came over to the house immediately, inspected the roof, identified the problem as faulty seals on the OLD system that had been installed by someone else, and spent a late evening in the dark resealing all the old panel footings because it was due to rain the next morning. When we decided to stay in California, in January 2020, with a $500.00/month SDG&E bill, Solar was a no brainer. 1st we refinanced the house, 2nd termite tented the house, 3rd solar: a neighbor had Sunlight Solar install his solar system. They were fast and professional and the panels, all black, looked better than others in the area. I called Sunlight Solar and was very pleased with their response and attention to my needs and design of my system. Each panel has their own controller so I can monitor each panel individually. They took care of coordinating with SDG&E and installation was fast and instructions easy to follow. Actually, pretty exciting to watch the work. After the solar was done, I had the attic cleaned out, central air conditioning with all new ducting installed, then new blown in fiberglass installation in the attic. Finally, some painting around the house and we were set. But, Solar was the keystone work. Sunlight Solar offered a 1 year no interest payment option that I took advantage of. I would recommend Sunlight Solar. The 1st year, I owed about $70.00 to SDG&E but after my oldest son moved out, this last year I received about a $70.00 credit. read more

Sunlight Solar has really done well for me. As we all know the benefits of Solar I will instead talk about the company itself. The install crew was very good, they installed a very large system for me to cover my needs that also looks very nice. Ontop of that, they not only had the cheapest Price around, but they are a company that uses MicroInverters. That's truly what sold it for me in the end. There were two high points in my transaction with Sunlight Solar that stood out well beyond any other company I have worked with however. On March 25th, we had a meeting with Jerry, a representative from Sunlight Solar. Before the meeting my husband and I agreed that we would listen, but wouldn't buy anything. Jerry was so straightforward with information about the company, how the project would come together, and the cost, that we decided then and there to go ahead with the investment. Going solar was something we had been interested in doing. We like the idea of helping the environment and not relying on SDG&E for all our energy. By April 15th our system was up and running. The crew that installed the panels were friendly and efficient. As promised, Sunlight Solar, scheduled the inspections, contacted the electric company to get us on board, and provided the online connection so we can monitor our panels' output. I had Sunlight Solar install my system more than three years ago now. When I decided to get solar I had many questions and concerns. Type of inverters, monitoring system, type of panels to be used. Other company's were just not addressing my concerns. When I contacted Sunlight Solar and briefly described my concerns the person on the phone immediately said, "You need to talk to Jeff" he's the owner. I was immediately transferred. We talked for about 30min. Long story short, I purchased a 16 panel system, and they also rebuilt my circuit breaker panel and my home. So far so good. Exceptional customer service. They addressed all my concerns and communicated with me and other subject matter experts to formulate a plan that will suite my needs. Everything was done quickly and even tho we had minor delays (due to unforeseen rainy days, not fault of theirs) we still remained on schedule. The only thing I recommend for folks that want to completely eliminate their electric bill is if your house can accommodate the panels, make sure you pay attention to your bills highest and average kilowatts. Not just your average. Then request panels that can produce that amount. I didn't recognize this concern until Sunlight Solar was halfway completed and the owner himself called to fix the problem and worked with me to formulate a new plan and deal that will address my concerns and not add any delay to installation. Can't say enough good things regarding this company I've been in the solar market for the past couple of months after my utility bill sky rocketing . I've had enough of these electric rates and wanted to be able to turn on my AC I met with several solar companies including the big box stores. Sunlight Solar came out last year and installed 15 panels on my house in May 2015, I had one minor hiccup with them on an electric issue but they promptly send someone to my house and it was resolved immediately. The salesperson was great and never tried to pressure sell me.The system has performed well and they delivered on all their promises. I referred them to my parents who were very against solar at the time but ended up buying after talking with sunlight solar. This year I went back to them to install 3 additional panels since we started using more power with the solar and they gave me a great deal as a repeat customer. They came out quickly and installed the additional panels in no time. I am going to evaluate my solar needs in about another 6 months and I will definitely be calling them if I want to add more panels to get me to a zero balance for the year on my electric bill. read more

Never came back after a six week wait. Approx 4/28/21 My system went down and I find out my solar provider, Petersen Dean went bankrupt and new company that bought assets refused to honor my warranty. I called around and San Diego Solar said they could be out in a day or two. 4/30/21~ 4 guys show up at my tiny 704 square foot / 10-solar panel house to access my solar problem. The owner (Brad) and I shot the breeze while one guy opened some junction boxes and found the problem in the first few minutes. The other two guys just stood there and watched while the one guy made the temporary repair. The issue was shoddy workmanship with Petersen Dean using faulty boxes and the wrong wire connectors. They did send one of the 'extra' guys to truck to get a junction box and wire connectors which took five minutes. The guy made the temporary repair which all took place in 40 minutes from the time they arrived. They said they'd get parts together and be back to change the rest of the boxes within two weeks. I notified the owner (Brad) at this time I was moving on June 7, 2021 and I MUST have the work done before that time so my tenant didn't have to deal with it and Brad said "NO PROBLEM". I also offered to pay for that day's work right then and the Brad said "We'll settle up when the work is complete". Very cool of them. I also gave the workers some cactus and succulent cuttings that they asked about. Great start I thought. 5/4/21 Got a text that Roberto would be at my house on 5/5/21. 5/6/21 Texted Dirk to say Roberto never showed up. Dirk said they'd be there next week. 5/14/21~ I called and left a message. Got a text back saying they were super busy but they'd get to me before I moved on June 7th. 5/17/21 Waited a few more days and called again and left a voicemail. Got a text saying "be there in the next couple days'. 5/27/21 Sent a text reminding them I needed the work done as I'm moving. Reply was 'Bear with me, we're finishing up 150 panel job'. 6/3/21 I called again and Dirk said they are just slammed and will get to me in the next couple weeks. He also said "Since the request was not done via email, it just got overlooked" Huh? I never even had their email address. And I reminded him for the umpteenth time I was moving June 7. He said they were too busy to make my date. He said he'd send an email with the first invoice and I told him his brother said we could settle up when all work was done and Dirk also agreed to that but he'd still send the invoice. I never got an invoice. 6/6/21~ Finally received the invoice. I emailed again and said my movers come tomorrow and my solar is still not fixed. He said I hadn't paid the invoice that I never received. He had my email address wrong. It showed 3 men 1 hour @ $270. By this time I'm really aggravated as they completely did not hold up their end of the bargain we made on 4/30/21. I wrote an email that said I'd pay the invoice as written but since I will have moved when they finally come back and not able to supervise, I'd like a smaller crew to replace my junction boxes and wire nuts. It's literally a one man job. Apparently this really pissed Dirk off as he snapped back that my roof, (9 degree pitch which is almost flat) was dangerous and that my electric mast was dangerous and a minimum two man crew was needed. I said that's fine. Almost EVERY single family home has an electrical mast and mine is brand new and no different than any other mast. 6/16/21 I'm 2000 miles away now. Still no news on my repair. I receive a second invoice with a late fee on it. The invoice was 10 days old and they put a late fee on it! I paid it but mentioned they can't put a late fee on an invoice that is only 10 days old that the owners had originally agreed to settle up when work was complete. I paid the invoice. 6/22/21~ I receive an email from Dirk that they are not coming back. As a customer I have every right to question charges on my invoice. Apparently not at San Diego Solar though. They bail out on you half way through the job. Dirk, (not Brad) provided the worst customer service, follow through and treatment I've ever encountered and I'm 60 years old and rehabbed/flipped 13 houses with 50+ different contractors. All I asked was for my repairs to be made as agreed upon on 4/30/21 and hopefully they could send less than three guys to make my repair. I know my repair was tiny and a nuisance but I was looking for a long term service provider. If you don't want a job, don't take it in the first place. San Diego Solar made me lose a little faith in humanity. It was all unnecessary. Had they done what they said they'd do on 4/30/21, BEFORE I moved 2000 miles away, everything would have worked out fine.
