My…read morethoughts are similar to many others here - frustration with the online dating process, love-hate relationship with the apps, not finding quality men, and having a bit of occasional writers block when I did actually connect with someone. So when I decide I am actually going to do something, I tend to move quickly. I setup a phone consult (right from the Yelp app) and talked to Ladan the very next day. We then had a face to face meeting three days later, and another within the next week. She was able to setup a photo shoot for the very next day to supplement some of my existing photos with additional casual photos (shout out to photographer @emilyjoangreene - she was awesome too!). And voila - we went live 24 hours later. Fast forward to 8 days later (today) and I have already received more "likes" than I had in all my previous online dating adventures. Three upcoming dates confirmed, and this is FUN, not frustrating anymore. Ladan moves at your pace, helps you showcase the best of YOU and doesn't try to make you into something that you're not, is accessible for those silly follow up questions, and basically just downright amazing. She loves what she does and it shows.

Clothes are displayed beautifully, with color palettes together so it's easy to create outfits. The clothes are both on trend and classic. For example, they had long plaid shirts - mid thigh length - in a blue & gray combo and tan & cream. I've seen people wearing these jackets but no other shops had them. Unfortunately they didn't work for my shape, but if they did, I would be wearing one now! An offer to assist from a stylist came within minutes. When I explained why the jacket didn't work for me, rather than argue as some reps do, she immediately suggested a belt to give my waist the definition that was missing from the straight cut jacket. She clearly knew what styles would work best on my shape, as do I, and I was appreciative that she was seeing me as an individual and not just trying to push generic product to me. The clothes are well made and with very nice fabrics. Soft prints and lots of solids and neutrals. Many of styles of jeans available - high waist, mid rise, straight leg, wide leg . Clearly they realize that one style does not fit all. Well, done! Lots if accessories too. Scarves, hats, belts, fashion jewelry, some bags and shoes. There is a section in the back with several sale racks and the clothing there is also nice, but maybe from a previous season. So right now, lots of summer items. This will definitely be a regular stop when I am at Bridgeport Village.

Our master bedroom closet finally feels spacious and functional and our laundry room is a showplace. We engaged with a salesperson via the website and Laurie quickly contacted us. After a visit to our house, she cranked out 9 different drawings and three different quotes to remake our three bedroom closets and laundry nook. They had a "buy three, get one free" promotion and that made the cost a little more palatable. After seeing the drawings, we went to the SE Portland showroom near the Convention Center and that really helped our decision making. I found it important to view and touch the cabinets and finishes, and we even upgraded to a few amenities after seeing them in person. The best was the retractable ironing board for our Laundry Room. Laurie updated our quotes within 2 business days and we had a decision completed and an installation date scheduled by the end of that week. The single installer was done within 3.5 hours and did a great job. He claimed to have 20 years experience with California Closets and I can believe that by his quality work. Our master bedroom closet went from cramped to relatively spacious. We opted for drawers, some including special dividers for underwear and socks, and included several sliding holders for belts, necklaces and ties. There's even a sliding hamper with his and hers removable laundry bags. Check out the photos I added. Wow! The price is steep, but swallow hard and do the right thing for the value and usability of your house.

Everything went great, but then we recently noticed black mold behind one of them. The home was brand new, so this seemed a very strange coincidence. They have a limited lifetime warranty, and I reached out. They did open a claim and came out to inspect. They took off the bottom cabinet and found no damage on their end, so I opened a claim with my insurance. The remediation company came out, and they were baffled on what happened. They had to remove the floating shelves installed above the cabinet and found those screws punctured the water pipe, causing a very slow leak. After showing this to California Closets, they said too long of screws were used. Things happen, and people are human. This has been a long process, but they were professional and repaired/replaced/reinstalled the cabinet after the remediation had been completed. They're hopeful it won't happen again, so fingers crossed. Shout out to Cam, who was helpful throughout the process. The reason for 3 instead of 4 stars is that their insurance company is impossible to get a hold of and denying everything. 4 months into this whole process, and it's still ongoing. A lot of time invested on my side to ensure the homeowners claim is closed out. Zurich American is an interesting company.

Now retired and no affiliation with California Closets Portland. I referred clients to California Closets when I lived & worked in southern California, in the OC. California Closets is a solid product with talented designers and good execution. Here's some tips in selecting California Closets or any cabinet maker for a remodel. 1) A designer that you connect with is important. Review designs (and options) on computer generated CAD in 3-D. If it's a challenging (big or small) space, designer can give you various iterations. Don't make up your mind right away. Think about it overnight. 2) Get three quotes. Evaluate: Product quality 1st. Designer & Installation 2nd. Price 3rd. 3) Get at least 3 or more referrals. Do call referrals to see how they liked the work performed. 4) Tour the factory. Get a sense for their organization, process and quality control. 5) Cabinetry may have custom wood doors (but not so much for closets). It's probably more acrylics or laminate's. Examine the doors. ENSURE California Closets PROVIDES SAMPLES WITH YOUR FINISH TO LOOK AT IN YOUR SPACE / CLOSET! How do they look and feel? How do they withstand use? If real wood doors, be sure a catalyzed varnish (not water base) is used to protect finish long term. Drawer boxes should be 100% full extension glides. The box should be dove tailed (best construction) in Maple or Birch. Melanie is ok (functional not as elegant) if you need to save money, but know the difference. All soft close doors and drawers is no extra cost. 6) Check all companies with the Better Business Bureau. Do they have any discrepancies or complaints from any work performed? 7) Know who the installer is? Do they work for California Closets? Independent? Experience level? Key to any cabinet project is the installation! PERIOD! I've been to California closets show room 3 times snooping around--nice, friendly, no pressure.
