So, I went to get an ombre and they gave me highlights. First, I waited nearly 6 hours to have my hair done. My stylist was late, that's okay, it happens. But then, she asked me if I wanted it dimensional. I didn't know what that meant and so I said yes. I guess that's my fault, but I really feel like she should've explained that my hair wouldn't look like the photos I was showing her. My whole day off from work was spent there and for a little over $200, I didn't get what I wanted. I was so upset, I tried to like it, but I couldn't. The up side is they offered to fix it, complementary, which is nice of them to do.. However, I can just dye it back to my natural hair color myself at this point, let it grow and then cut out the color. I'm more upset that my time was wasted and I waited a whole week for this day. I went to Jill, and she was simply amazing. She cut my curls to perfection and solved my problem of thinning hair by cutting in longer layers. Jill also gave me a great massage on my neck and shoulders. The customer service is excellent too. While I was waiting for my sister's hair to be done, I was offered their delicious hit tea and a warm, scented compress for my neck and shoulders. I made my return appointment already! I saw Jill on my first visit to Joli and she was wonderful. I got the fantastic Aveda neck massage and my color was perfect. I love Aveda products and salons! I'm always a little hesitant about going to new ones because I am older and honestly being surrounded by younger and very beautiful girls can be a little intimidating. I love the location and the services. When you walk in you get a drink, then a neck massage with peppermint oil, then a heavy blanket and a hand massage. All of these are amazing, but inconsistently done. Also my esthetician left so now I have to go to multiple places. I really like the services offered here but it seems a little disorganized at times. They recently stared selling clothes which are overpriced but normal boutique style. I found Joli Salon through a Google search for an Aveda salon, and was impressed by all of the positive reviews. To be honest, I don't even want to share the name of my stylist because she was SO GOOD and I don't want her to be booked when I make my next appointment with her! But seriously, Jill was incredible from beginning to end. She spent time understanding how I wanted my color to look, checked out a few pictures I brought in, and then she was off to create the perfect color formula for my hair. JOLI was a great experience! I was forced by my beautiful fashionista wife to come here for a "treat" because she previously came here and loved it! I'm so glad I did! When you first arrived, they offered you coffee or tea, like a spa. They were expensive coffee or tea but it was a nice gesture and immediately made you feel at ease. They started off my haircut with a head massage with some essential oil, which was nice. My stylist was friendly and helpful, she really listened to my needs. After the haircut she took me to the back for shampoo and asked if I wanted hot towel on my face. It was relaxing and the shampoo they used had mint in it so it just woke you up and made you feel refreshed. So refreshing that my head felt cold bc it was winter. I thought it would be a better choice for summer. I am sure my wife would give it a 5 stars because for a lady it's a great value because they spent a lot of time w her but I'm not sure if I would want to pay $30+tip for a men's haircut routinely, even though it was great, but for me, it would just have to be a special treat next time! read more

Okay I have to start by saying I have never had a better experience at a hair salon! Keely is a DREAM! She is an expert colorist and gives an amazing haircut. Black hair is REALLY hard to dye without damaging and she did an incredible job giving me the exact caramel tone I want. I am seriously going to trust her to go even lighter next time. From start to finish this place was incredible. They offer you water, coffee, or tea upon arrival and get everything right down to the details of hand massages and warm pillows and eye masks during a shampoo. Go to Joli and try and see Keely, you will not regret it! It is a tad pricey but if you are a new client they have a 20.00 discount and even if they didn't it would be worth every penny! read more

Fantastic service, products, and ambiance. I've had everything from hair to facials to waxing done here, and really have no interest venturing elsewhere. I like that my hairstyles come with a mini massage and some aromatherapy, and that the products are a bit more natural than at many other salons. This is the one salon I don't leave with a massive headache from all the fumes. Music is a nice indie station, and the lighting is actually muted, thank goodness. That way I can appreciate my hair without cringing at how fluorescent lights make my skin look like The Cryptkeeper! This spa uses Aveda which is why it gets at least 2 stars since I love Aveda! But, I scheduled a Brazilian was, eyebrow and upper lip. What they failed to tell me is it was the esthetician's first day out from school. Why on earth would you have her do a BRAZILIAN WAX!!!!!!!!!! Literally the most painful, awkward wax. The girl was SO sweet though I just couldn't say anything to her. But honestly she still has no clue how to spread the wax or pull it or anything! So of course I was there almost 2 hours. Annnnd I get home and my nether regions are covered in wax still, and also hair. What a mess. Going to have to go somewhere else and try again. By the way I have been getting Brazilian waxed for 4-5 years and never had an experience like this. Before I left I said to the woman checking me out "please, she needs MUCH more practice before she ever does a Brazilian wax" all I got was "thank you for your feedback." You would think they would ask how it was or be concerned, ask if everything is ok? Nope. I was looking forward to have this be my main salon for hair, facials, and waxing but... guess I'll keep looking. read more

I went to Joli for the first time last September and found that you are treated like a Goddess there! It's an AVEDA salon, so it automatically smells like Eucalyptus and spa-like smells. They give you tea or coffee to drink while you wait and I also got offered a back massage! The scalp and hand massage is also a nice bonus! I liked my hair cut and will definitely go back again. She has such a positive demeanor and an eye for detail. She has taken my fine, limp hair and transformed it into a thick, stylish bob. Joli also takes great care of their guests. Quite by fate, I found this quaint but lovely salon and spa and fell into the hands of darling young Keeley. She has become my favorite monthly meeting. Even the simple haircut offers you more than any other salon in Lexington (trust your girl on this - I've had some hurr DID up in this town!). The soothing smell of lavender and clary sage when you walk through the door immediately relaxes you and if you're lucky enough that your stylist is running behind, you'll probably be offered a hand massage. Keeley continues to check my comfort level throughout my visit, offering drinks, etc. She gives a scalp massage and neck massage at cutting time and scalp massage at wash time. Massage was decent. I was hopeful it would be amazing as the therapist took her time to ask lots of questions about what I liked , but then in the therapy room didn't really perform . I kept waiting for the moment it felt complete and it was almost happening at end for the head and face massage and bam! Over. But the more disappointing factor for this place is that it is beautiful and looks promising , but the girl checking me out had such uninformed, going through the motions attitude especially about their services. If I didn't have a gift card to use I wouldn't be returning. Aveda concept salons seem to over promise on their service descriptions. It's such a bummer. Good for Joli for turning their business around in this new location. I had been to the previous one once, but was so dissatisfied with my experience that I vowed to never return. Once the new location opened, my mom recommended I go since its right near her house and she had been several times without incident (my mom has very high standards when it comes to hair salons, and will only step in Aveda establishments). I have been twice and am pleased with the service I have received. My first appointment I was early and the stylist wasn't quite ready, so I was offered a complimentary neck massage and beverage while I waited. Win. My second appointment I also had my eyebrows waxed by the stylist and she did great. I like that they take you to the regular waxing table, instead of just doing them at the sink like some salons. The wash chairs are very comfortable, and I think it's really great that each station has a sheet that lets you know what 6, 8, and 12 weeks are from that day so that you can get an idea of when your next appointment will be if you go that often. I also have not had any issues booking appointments and am able to get in that day or the next day. I definitely recommend Joli over the other Aveda salons in Lexington. read more

I absolutely LOVED my experience at this salon. To start off my stylists schedule was running a little behind which was no problem for me, but the certified massage therapist offered me a complimentary message while I waited which was fantastic. When I sat down to get my hair cut my stylist was thorough in our consultation and made sure she knew exactly what I wanted for my cut and did an excellent job! I'm a student at UK and have a hairstylist in the family at home in pennsylvania so going to a salon to get my hair cut was semi-terrifying but I will without a doubt return to Joli Salon whenever I need a hair cut at school again. Amazing experience! Keely was my stylist and did a fantastic job making sure I was completely satisfied. I was in the chair within 5 minutes of walking in and offered coffee, tea or water. Keely was very through in asking me about my hair type my usual routine in caring for it. When cutting it she explained all the products she used and why (wasn't at all pushy about me buying, but I did anyway). She was friendly, and very patient while styling my super curly hair. I also got a complimentary aromatherapy and a massage. The entire process was extremely professional, the facilities were clean, and the staff were friendly.
