Opening at 9 am on Saturday, this location of the famous Filipino chicken chain provides their complete menu even for breakfast. It has been open for less than a year at their only Oregon location here at Hillsboro. On our last day in Portland, my wife, her mom, and I stopped in for fried chicken on our way to the airport. We were all jolly when we left. I've really come to appreciate the consistency of Jollibee's chicken fried chicken. Unlike some of their competitor's, where the chicken breading might be coming off because it has been sitting under a heat lamp too long, their chickenjoy breading is crispy and their meat juicy. All of us had already eaten breakfast at the hotel we had been staying at, so weren't particularly hungry. Thus, just got a 3 pc Cjoy combo meal ($18.49, no tax) with 3 pieces of spicy, dark meat chicken (2 drums, one thigh), a biscuit (fluffy and tasty), two sides (mash potatoes and fries) and fountain drink. It also comes with a cup of brown gravy, meant to be used as dip for the fried chicken. Brown gravy with fried chicken has become something I seek out now. The fries are very similar to McDonald's and the mashed potatoes to KFC. In both cases, that is a good thing. I got a pager and it went off about 10 minutes afterwards, so got up to bring the chicken back. They have a self serve soda fountain. It is expensive though for a fast food chain, with no value-type menu available yet. Fil-Ams are loyal to this chain, and seem to be OK with the slightly higher price. No line when we walked in, service was amazing, the woman taking my order was very sweet! It was incredibly warm inside and no seats so we had to sit outside. It wasn't raining so that was fine but the kind woman wiping the tables and chairs down was doing so with a napkin (which obviously did not dry things lol). Anyway, not her fault, we made do. I'd never really heard of Jollibee until a Filipino friend of mine mentioned it. They're apparently famous for their fried chicken and spaghetti -- definitely a unique combo! The cashier was waiting for me to decide, so I went with the 2-piece chicken and a side a la carte (which, I learned, doesn't include a drink). I asked for a cup for water and they were happy to give me one. You can choose between regular or spicy chicken -- I went spicy. They handed me a pager, but my food came out within just a few minutes, which was great. The dining area was clean, with several small tables plus a big communal seating area. I appreciated that their trash station separates landfill, recycling, and compost -- though a few pictures to show what goes where would help. Now, the chicken -- definitely crispy, not soggy or overly greasy, and the spicy flavor had a nice little kick without being overpowering. My coworker had been talking this place up for a couple months...I guess since it had opened. I was over @ Tanasborne to go to get my brows waxed, so i figured i would go to lunch after. I got there just ahead of a group of 10-15 people...I am pretty happy that I did, because it took a long time to get my order. When I did, the employee "had" to walk all the way around both registers to unceremoniously drop my tray on the counter. She obviously wanted me to plow through the mass of humanity at the counter to get to her. Service gets a 3/10. The food on the other hand was surprisingly good. The chicken was trying to be a little spicy, but it needed a little more. The chicken was very crispy and juicy. Very similar to Popeye's. The fries were hot and crispy, but it was unfortunate that they didn't have mayonnaise packets...or at least that is what I was told. The price for the combo was $12.99 and that was surprising as well. Definitely better than Chik-Fil-A. After years of needing to make trips across Washington and California to get our Chickenjoy fix, we were excited to try out Oregon's very own Jollibee. The new location is in a beautiful building, though it is a little small for the number of customers it serves. When we arrived, there was a line out the door and a staff person was ushering people away from the door and allowing them inside a few at a time. But after awhile that person stopped letting people in, and several people cut in line and went straight for the door. But that's just the way it is sometimes. I'll chalk it up to them not seeing the line on the side of the building. The food was great, but the menu was restricted to a few key items (mostly chicken and spaghetti) and didn't include other things like burgers that are found at other Jollibee locations. But that didn't bother me too much since the chicken, gravy, and spaghetti were my priorities. And they were very tasty! The service was good and there were lots of food prep staff working, so order prep operates like a well-oiled machine. I'd say this is a good place to eat if you have upwards of 45 minutes to spare. I hope in the future they'll increase their offerings and/or have more seating, but all things considered, I liked the food and the experience. read more

Finally trying this place as I heard about it when I was living in Indonesia and I think they have a location there or they used to have a location there? Anyways, they finally opened one here about a year or two going on giving it a tasting. Finally made it here! The lines are normal now--not out the door. For 1st time, we just went simple with the 6 piece fried chicken bucket. They let us split it between regular and spicy. They only have drumsticks and thighs, which I love because dark meat is the best! The thighs were slightly small and drumsticks large, so they were about the same amount of meat. I would call this elevated fried chicken. The batter is perfectly light and crispy--more delicate than the big American chains, with a nice clean oil flavor. The spicy has a bit of a kick to it--not overwhelming, but didn't really add to flavor for me. Overall, I preferred the regular. The meat is juicy and perfectly cooked. It also comes with gravy on the side, which has a good chicken essence to it, so it seems like stock/broth is used, and not too thick. Services was friendly. There aren't very many inside tables. Came here around 10:30am on a Tuesday and there was no line and open seating inside to enjoy our food. I definitely don't think the hype has died down yet since it got more crowded as it came closer to typical lunch time and the drive-through was already popping on our way out. The service is so nice from holding the door for us when walking in to the warm smiles and greetings from the staff. There were lots of people working there behind the register counter keeping up with everything. Inside is limited seating but they also have some outdoor tables as well. To the haters out there not getting the hype, that's too bad because IYKYK. I got the 2 piece chicken (although next time I will definitely get spicy as well) with spaghetti. I know exactly what to expect from Filipino spaghetti (it will be sweet) and it brought back nostalgic memories of eating at my Filipino best friend's house in high school. Chicken was crispy and the gravy was supreme. I was delightfully surprised by the Pineapple Quencher drink! It was not too sweet and very refreshing without the artificial taste. Of course you have to get a hot mango peach pie here. They do lot skimp on the filling and the deep fried pie is just the sweet thing I needed to round out this savory meal. I really don't understand why Jollibee is so popular! For a chicken meal? After seeing and reading and looking at photos of some of my Filipino FB friends, why not! Let's go, and find out why, what is all that all about. I walked to Rite-Aid to shop, and came back, and hubby hasn't moved! It's 75 degrees, windy, and AC is on. Two rows of cars getting their orders, we were on lane #3, roped line. Once you get inside the rope, there's no exit Since, we couldn't eat it right away, we brought our cooler and put everything inside, so we could finish our errands, on the way home. When it was our turn, I asked for a menu. We have to study that, WHEN we could have been deciding while we're in line for 45 mins. So, we sat inside the car, with the hot sun facing us, (I have my own shade - always), and decide what to order. We ordered 6 pieces in a bucket. Hubby ordered spaghetti, too. And fries. There's gravy, too. We also got the peach mango pie, we still haven't gotten into it yet. Finally, we made it home. The chicken? Same consistency as Popeye's, without the spices. It's not greasy like KFC. We didn't get to the gravy. The fries were thin slices, (that I like) and can be re-heated so they're not soggy. Super excited to finally try the Jollibee's here in Hillsboro. It's been a long wait for this place to finally open. For a minute I was unsure if this business was moving forward with their plans of opening because there was no info on their corporate site regarding the plans but when I finally saw the building go up, it was going to happen for sure. Ordering is easy and there is ample amount of seating inside the building and some tables outside. The consistency of the chicken itself is good and crunchy just like a normal Chicken joy and their spaghetti is great as well as their peach mango pies. No issues there. They have a large amount of workers busy in the kitchen but I'm not sure if the crew will be sustained or downsized once the hype dies down. Now for the issues that I think need to be addressed immediately by the Manager: 1) Remove the ropes around the parking lot. This is causing your walk-in customers to park far just to reach the main entrance. 2) Remove the tape around the outside lines. Again, the hype has already died down and looks like there won't be a large rush of people visiting soon. Keep the covering though because it's really hot. 3) The front entrance of the restaurant crosses where cars exit from drive-thru. I had to tell a lady to be careful crossing in that section. 4) Please add the Palabok to your menu. Who cares about the Angus Burger. What Jollibee in the world does not have this basic menu item. (And don't copy the restaurant in Washington because they're skimming out the shrimp in the ingredients) The food is good and the customer service is nice and workers inviting. PRO TIP If you are waiting in the drive thru line, jump out and grab a photo of the menu so you will be ready to order when you get to the speaker. There are a variety of combinations. Our favorites are always the chicken joy SPICY, ube and mango peach pies! The pies are the star even though of course you go for the chicken, juicy and fresh. I love how they put picks for each spicy piece so you don't get them confused with the regular. My daughter likes the adobe rice but I find it very dry. Jollibee has finally expanded into Oregon with a location to call their own alongside their neighbors in California and Washington! What can we say about the is day? The wait for grand opening day amongst the other campers was something else! That said, this won't be a representative experience on other days so I will try to keep it brief! This particular location is a little smaller than some of its counterparts in other states and has limited eating area. But it's a casual fast food place so that's not necessarily a bad thing. On this day they had to limit orders on their most popular items: Their Chicken Buckets and their Peach Mango Pies! They did their best to keep things orderly, but the first order heyday madness still was overwhelming for new staff I'm sure. Despite the staff arriving earlier than they likely normally would at 6am, they still seem unprepared for the speed of service and quality that normally comes from Jollibee! Having a backlog of over a hundred customers the instant you open, it can be understandable. Perhaps they were rushed or taking shortcuts, but the chicken didn't quite have the same refreshing crisp or heat that I'm used to from other locations, but it was still great! The pies were great as well! The service was passable, but not amazing. It can't be helped as they likely felt under pressure from everyone, so there are some improvements to be made there. There was definitely the vibe of feeling like they just wanted me out of there as soon as possible. Overall once they get their bearings, I think this can turn into a real five star experience! I had Jollibee in Jersey City, in a tiny cramped shop. Can't say the meal was memorable. This location is new in Beaverton. It's a big, modern restaurant with a large staff. They have the ordering system and line management down to a science with call back pagers for when your food is ready. I wasn't hungry, only wanted a snack, so I ordered one piece of chicken for $3.79. I was served a crispy, juicy thigh. It came with a cup of brown gravy. Wasn't sure what to do with it. the chicken itself so amazing. ours came out perfectly fresh and hot. the chicken was juicy, crispy and spicy! the gravy on the side complimented the chicken and was spiced well. we also got fries on the side which were mediocre. The lines and wait times are normal at this time. Also, this location does not serve the full menu that has burgers and other things at their other locations. The best thing for me here is their basic chicken sandwich. It's one of the better ones for a fast food spot - it's $7 The chicken joy is their fried thighs and legs - coming in at around $3 per piece. The crunch is pretty decent. A bit too salty for me to eat more than one piece by itself. Comes with gravy. Spaghetti w hot dogs - sweet Filipino style. I don't personally like sweet spaghetti but, I can eat it if I'm hungry. Peach mango pie - it's a hot pocket or something. it's fine Biscuits - dry and salty as f..avoid Pineapple Quencher - it's good. $$ and makes me always wonder just how much sugar is in it.
