I finally had the chance to give Jollibee a try. I ordered several different items to see what all the buzz was about. I've been watching different Mukbang videos and Jollibee was one of them. So here it goes: - Chicken and Gravy is awesome. The spicy chicken very flavorful and has a good heat to it. - Aloha Yum Burger was delicious. The flavors from the pineapple and sauce were a great mix. I will definitely be buying this burger next time I come. - Burgersteak with steamed rice was ok. The mushroom and gravy was good. It tasted like your average Salisbury steak. - Palabok Fiesta is was most disappointed with. It has such great reviews but when it came to trying it I felt let down. Nothing special about this to me at all. - Jolly Spaghetti surprised me. It was a sweet version of a good spaghetti dish. I can see myself getting this if I am craving spaghetti for lunch. If you like sweet spaghetti you will love this! - Yum burger with cheese is ok. The sauce they use on it is good. Nothing outside your average cheeseburger. - Peach and Mango pie was pretty good. Came in for lunch with family, ordered the 2 piece chicken meal deal inside the store and I asked for 2 thighs spicy and cashier said they can't do that and asked the manager and said no as well. I find this funny because we always eat Jollibee on a weekly basis and they don't have a problem doing that. To test the theory, we left and didn't order inside and decided to go to our car and do drive thru, my husband ordered with his American accent, and funny he ordered same thing and was able to order what i originally ordered with no question. To make it even funnier, the person taking our order on drive thru is the manager that said No inside the store. The manager Shiela insisted that it's part of their policy and you can't choose. I even find it funnier that the store only sells thigh and leg part. What happened to the chicken breast and wing? I know by only selling the thigh and leg part, they're already making the profit but telling us its in the policy, im pretty sure she made that up. One of my good friends is Filipino and raves about this place so we decided to do a day trip here and taste the "best fast food" of the Philippines and I must say, it does not disappoint. I personally love fried chicken and spaghetti so I was already very excited to try the food. One recommendation is to come here with a group of friends and try everything (most cost-effective and most fun!) Also, they have daily deals so always take a look at that and you may save as much as $10 (applicable mainly for groups). Expect to pay anywhere between $8-$20 but the food does not disappoint and will definitely leave you filled and satisfied. This place is a trip. I was a little hesitant to try it out because of the other reviews, but did so anyways. The parking lot was pretty full, but in the back, we found a place. I tried the coconut bubble tea and it reminded me of the ones I used to get in Chicago; it was really good. For dinner I ordered the chickenjoy tenders and white rice. The tenders are some of the best I've had; I would eat these every day if I lived closer. The spaghetti is different. It has hotdogs and some cubed mystery meat and was almost like the canned spaghetti you find in a grocery store(you know the one I'm talkin' about)... I didn't love it and I'm not sure I hated it; it was something in between. The service was horrible on our second visit. Definitely not the fast food restaurant that we've encountered on our first visit during their grand opening. It wasn't even busy but due to their lack of staff they were running behind. There was a lot of ppl just sitting waiting for their orders. The lady at the counter was very upset but I couldn't understand what she was saying. I don't speak Tagalog. But her body language, tone, and the way she was hitting our order in the system didn't need any translation. It was the universal language of, I'm pissed! I don't know if she was upset that they called her in to work that Labor Day Mon. or what but I didn't feel welcomed. I just tried to place my order in as quickly and nicely as possible. While also hoping my smile would transfer to her face via osmosis but yeah biology doesn't work like that. Unfortunately we had to wait 20 mins for our 6-piece. Thankfully the spicy fried chicken made up for the service and wait. It tasted so much better than our first visit. Very juicy, moist, and had a GREAT spicy kick! Also the mango peach pie was still good. We finally tried the palabok fiesta, it was okay, they seem to be skimping on the toppings but maybe they were running low on those that day as well. Maybe next time I'll give their spaghetti a try but I'm hesitant since I'm not into sweet spaghetti. The good thing is that they've added lots of breakfast items since I was last here. When this place had a grand opening, the line was ridiculously long. You would have to wait for an hour just to get some "authentic Filipino" fried chicken and food. Honestly, do not expect every item on the menu to be authentic. It tastes pretty much the same and normal. Be aware that Jollibee only uses dark meat. If you want white meat, you are out of luck. Dark meat includes the drumsticks, legs and thighs, while white meat includes breast and wings. Honestly, there is no major difference when it comes down to health. It's just personal preference. I've been here several times, but my recent visits were not pleasant. The service has becoming more rude. The place is getting dirtier. Jollibee is a very unique fast food joint. Unlike most American fast food, it has a twist: it's Filipino! Before deciding to dine here, please take time to research the menu. While they do serve things like spaghetti, burgers, and fried chicken, it actually may taste a lot different than you would expect. The first time I came here was because I found out that they served bubble tea, (pearl coolers.) They have 2 flavors: coconut and Ube (taro, or purple yam.) The Ube pearl cooler is my FAVORITE thing to order, because it has a unique nutty/vanilla flavor. The second time I visited, I decided to try a side order of their spaghetti for $3.99. The first thing that I said was "wow! This is weird!" Because this isn't the traditional Italian spaghetti. It comes served with sliced hotdogs, and a sweeter red sauce. It's so sweet, and has a chili undertone. They have new chicken filet sandwiches that come with a tangy mayo, that I tried for the first time today. It was very filling and flavorful. With every visit, I try something new. It's pretty exciting to be able to expand your taste for Filipino food, without even leaving Jacksonville. I especially enjoy Jollibee's fried chicken because it tastes light and crispy and not as fatty/unhealthy as the fried chicken at other fast food joints. The chicken tastes even better when paired with gravy. Other menu items I enjoy are the spaghetti, palabok, buko pandan pearl cooler, pineapple juice, and the star of the show--the peach mango pie. I would like their pearl coolers more, though, without the boba because their boba tastes hard and not fresh, which slightly ruins the experience. However, Jollibee isn't a boba shop, so you can't have too high of expectations there. Overall, I enjoy coming here when I'm in the mood for either fried chicken or Filipino-style food! Back when Jollibee first opened, this place was beyond crowded. You had to be a little aggressive when claiming seats, and of course, Filipinos love to travel in hoards so sometimes you'd have one single family taking up half of the restaurant. This is still a new fast-food place and Filipinos in the area tend to flock to these places when they open up in the US due to its popularity in the Philippines. The restaurant is kept clean and the people working here so far have been nice. The area where you line up to order the food is on the small side, so a line going out the door can quickly form. This may be problematic during the hotter months in Jax. The food is as I remember it growing up in the Philippines. The chicken is crispy but yet juicy inside. The spaghetti and burgers have its signature flavors that Filipinos like. Instead of Apple pie, like from McDonald's, they have the peach mango pie. They also have pineapple juice and a couple of slushy bubble drinks. Lastly, if you're not Filipino and feeling adventurous, try the palabok. But since I am Filipino, I grew up on this food and not only like it but nostalgic for me too. Update: It seems like every time I come here that wait for ordering and getting my food keeps getting longer. It took more than 45 minutes to get served. The line wasn't even that long. They don't have a huge menu, so it's easy to be able to try everything they have to offer in just a few visits. If you can't decide on what you want, they have combos of chicken joy, Filipino spaghetti, hamburger steak, and palabok. I usually just get one of their family combos, however the only substitutions you can make for their sides is to rice. If you find yourself here, a must try for anyone is their peach mango pie.
