I should have rated Jolloff a long time ago. I have been stopping in much more lately. This restaurant has the best egusi soup and pounded yam. I try to make it here at least once a week on the one day I eat out. The ladies and gentlemen has always been professional and courteous. Anytime I'm in the DMV, I make sure to come through! Ive really enjoyed all my visits to Jolloff Etcetera but today was extra lovely! We can't after Sunday service and we were famished! Amara our server was lovely and patient with us and your abundant orders. Everything cans out on a timely manner and hit all the tight spots! My favorite is Rice and Ata din din! Spicy and yummy as always! We were enjoying the music and we were checked on by not just Amara but by three others I want to say Dozie but I could be wrong! Let me start off by saying l love food. I love to eat a variety of different dishes. Including African and Caribbean. This restaurant has good food. The plantains was just ok but the beef pepper soup was oh so delicious! Very spicy l must add. They don't call it pepper soup for nothing. I also ordered two Joll of rice orders. They had a very hard time getting my order right. I preordered thru Yelp 24 prepayed.Arrived 40 minutes later and my order still was not ready or accurate. The order was placed for two joll of rice dinners. One with beef and the other with goat meat. I was told they were out of goat meat when l arrived. I also paid additional for one order of plantain and it was not included in my order. I had to wait an additional 25 minutes just for them to give me that. While the food was good. I don't understand why my food was not ready when l paid and pre ordered thru Yelp. The soup really wowed me and the rice and meat with my food was good. I really think they need to get it together. There was no reason for me to wait 45 minutes to an hour for my food. That was pre payed and pre ordered for carryout through Yelp eat 24. read more

One would think that 3 years later there would be some improvement in service but no. The food remains great but it's a constant rotation of the most useless people that service you. In summary - great food but with great frustration. Food is never ready on time regardless of the time they tell you to pick up, your pick up will most likely be missing a meal so check it before you leave, your order may end up forgotten so when you get there to pick up they'll just take it again. Service is a joke and they are unapologetic about it. read more

The first dish, jolloff rice with goat meat, that I ordered was received cold, quite tasteless, and there was only one piece of goat meat and two pieces of ox tails (which I did not order/want). The meat was too tough to eat. The second dish, pounded yam with egusi soup, was very greasy, too oily. This dish, after attempting to drain some of the grease from it, was tasty though. It was even too greasy to enjoy with the pounded yam. It was also very pricey, at $20/dish on GrubHub and Doordash. Nope, I don't recommend. read more

For starters, the menu options were simple and not crowded. Don't expect everything on the menu to be available. After placing order, the waiting begins. 20-min later, food shows up. Ordered Jollof rice with assorted Meat and fried rice with chicken. The food portions are great. Meat sizes are noticeable but too bony and fried. The fried meat is just greasy and very very dry. They might as well be serving you pieces of wood as meat. The pricing can be unreasonable and there are stories of price keep going up. It would be understandable if the quality is on par with the price, but a lot remains to be desired. I would like this place to do well and flourish. The quality needs to get better as there are more competition. There is a genuine attempt to please with the food. Although the food was good I have to give it a one star due to poor customer satisfaction. When I placed my order of pounded yam and egusi soup, I specifically told them I don't want to be cheated out of the soup I'm paying. I paid almost $17 for nothing and barely ate anything. I opened the soup and there was a huge piece of bone which took up space giving the appearance of the plate being full. I ended up trashing the pounded yam because there was barely any soup to eat with it. It is really hard to support african businesses when they are always trying to take shortcuts and not making sure their customers are satisfied. It's very laid back here, don't come if you're in a rush to eat though. Jollof - Full of flavor, try it. Suya - Sometimes they thread the tough part of the beef on there. Still the meat is good and the Suya seasoning has a slight kick to it. Egusi- I would suggest beef instead of Goat meat. Caribbean like me aren't used to tough goat, or goat with the skin attached. Personally it freaks me out big time, and looks too much like real skin. The beef however is really tender, like it falls off the bone. I'm not sure what they do to it, but man it's delicious. Chicken- The baked chicken is tender, they serve the thigh and leg portion (dark meat). The sauce has kick, so if you're scare of spicy things, don't bother. Moi Moi- You really can't get me to eat moi moi on purpose. It's really good for you tho. Out of the few places I've tried this place is good, when it served warm it's fine. Personally not going to order this first, ever though. If you like Moi Moi, I think you would like this place. Nigerian Fried Rice- You really can't mess this up, it's delicious. Now....In terms of service. If you know African and Caribbean eateries they certainly will have you think they are doing you a favor by being there. The service here isn't amazing, but it's okay. My Nigerian husband and I were visiting in Greenbelt, MD for a few days and found this local restaurant where he could get traditional food from his country. Personally, I didn't fancy the smell and it was a bit too dark for the daytime for me. However, we found the food very good and portions in good size. Wow. I ordered food from DoorDash a few times and the fact that I always get 2pieces of meat after paying $20+ for a plate of food is ridiculous. I Called the store to tell them I'd like more meat if I'm paying that price. The young lady first of all said she doesn't work in the kitchen and doesn't know how the food is packed. I understood that but asked if she could tell the kitchen to serve more meat and I said if she can't I'd like to talk to someone else. Since I posted my first review, I have returned several times because I love their food so much. I can say that their service has improved 100%. You can call in your order and expect your food to be ready when you get there. The hosts are pleasant and respectful. Their food is consistently good. We waited about 10 minutes before they took our order and everything I wanted wasn't available (or the waitress wasn't sure it was available). We ended up just getting up to grab our own bottled drinks from the cooler, but we couldn't find a bottle opener. When we asked the wait staff for the opener she gestured to the location which was across the restaurant instead of bringing it to our table. (I didnt know I was on the payroll). We order goat pepper soup as an appetizers to eat in the restaurant; and eba & egusi soup and pounded yam & ogbonna soup to go. The egusi soup was good but my hubby ended up with okra soup instead of ogbonna soup. We should have checked our food before we left the restaurant. A little high for some Jolloff rice but OK. When I asked the price while placing my order (just to make sure) I was told to pay when I pick up my food. (OK) Picking up my food I was charged and additional 5 dollars then what was stated on the electronic menu not including taxes. $19.99. When I realized I was charged extra, I called and asked what the extra fee was for, I was told they forgot to change the price on the ELECTRONIC MENU. WOW. Will not be going back there. read more

My and my good friend went here to eat, my girlfriend lives to date African men and loves the food. So, we sat down and it took forever for our food to come out. While we were waiting, the owner walked around to several tables to speak. All except our table and I feel like we waited extremely too long for our food. I am a believer of jollof! Ha funny but it's so true! Everything on their menu is delicious! Everything that I've ordered is exceptionally delicious. The puff puff AMAZING! Fried rice amazing! Jollof rice duh! Amazing! I mean they named their whole restaurant jollof lol. The pepper soup could have been more spicy it's actually mild soup to be honest but that's the safest way unless they have people signing waivers before ordering the soup. Even the brand is amazing! I've never been to an African restaurant that everything on the menu tastes good! So I am indeed a believer! I'm now a regular at jollof and consistently order lunch here all the time! Wished there was a lunch special so I can save some coins nonetheless I'll continue to spend all my money in this establishment. Kudos to having amazingly additive food. read more
